It’s a crappy day here in the CatBox, because I’m fighting off a case of Republicosis. I had a cavity come out of one of my three remaining teeth. I’ll be scarce next week, because I have to get the tooth fixed on Monday, and I have a routine appointment on Wednesday.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 3:27 (average 4:43). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From YouTube (Robert Reich Channel): Robert Reich: The Yuge Republican Lie About the Deficit
Of course the Reich on the left, Robert Reich, is right! The Reich on the right, the Republican Reich, offer Russian Hooker economics: tinkle down. Sick of getting peed on? Vote Blue! RESIST!!
From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Chris Discusses Exclusive New Audio Of Fox News Host Tucker Carlson
Carlson is not the Republican exception. He’s the Republican rule. RESIST!!
From The New Yorker: Donald J. Trumpβs $4.7-trillion budget raised eyebrows on Monday when government-watchdog groups discovered that it contained twenty million dollars for bail.
The line item for a βbail fundβ was buried in the fine print of the published budget, along with a footnote specifying that the money could be used only to bail out Trump and members of his immediate family.
Dang Andy! Do you think that will be enough? RESIST!!

5:00 Some days I feel just like that “tree.”
PEN AMERICA has a new 76-page report out called “Truth on the Ballot” regarding misinformation and disinformation. You can read the main points at this link, or link from it to the full report.
RR – Republican tax cuts … and Republicans throwing money at the military. The military does have legitimate needs, including some which are not obvious. But it has gotten ridiculous (and of course Robert gets that.)
FCarlson – And there’s a reason I spell his name with an “F.” And of course phrasing slurs as questions is the most effective way to brainwash. It is a pity that we are too honest to indulge in it ourselves?
TNY – Why would anyone be surprised that he would embezzle government money for personal use? He’s been doing that his whole life, and sees nothing wrong wth it. Straight news.
Cartoon – Well, Someone had to be the first. No one could have predicted the morphing of this benign service to the country into Fox News. We’d better take a good long look at that report I linked above.
If Robert Reich isn’t willing to run for President, he should be the advisor for the next one! Right-wingers are experts at spewing propaganda and B.S. all over the place, so we have to spread the truth far and wide.
RR: Good video, passing this on too.
MSNBC: There are things and people that I don’t watch on tv, and this one is a prime example of why I don’t watch Faux news!
NYer: Hilarious! and yet, I can see him doing this. He’s done it his whole life.
Cartoon: Eight days after his inauguration, President Franklin D. … gives his first national radio address—or “fireside chat”—broadcast called the ‘Banking Crisis’, (Great Depression) *wiki
I feel ya about dentists. I had my appt. with a side dish of anxiety, last week. Hope that they can save your tooth though. Spring has sprung here, and the live oak pollen is full force w/the wind. SXSW is going strong, traffic is congested up in that area, goes on up to St. Patty’s Day, last day/night. Used to go, but I don’t go anymore, I’m too old for that now. lol. Hope that you have a good evening, take good care, and Thanks, Tom.
This just in: “Democratic Party – “We’re not perfect, but they’re NUTS!!” ~ Left A. ~
I’ve said it before – Tucker Carlson has a face that just begs to be punched.
Not that I would ever do it, but it doesn’t me it doesn’t deserve it … on MULTIPLE accounts!
Puzzle — 5:01 The tree was not the only thing that was wrecked!
Robert Reich — Reich is spot on! It is past time to reverse the tax cuts to the wealthy and corporations and reinstate progressive taxation with higher rates to the wealthy and corporations. It has already been shown that the benefits of the tax cuts rarely showed up in the hands of the workers. The tax cuts showed up in the pockets of the wealthy and corporations and not in the economy.
MSNBC — I have one thing to say to Tucker Carlson: STFU! He is a smarmy, lying, racist, bigoted POS. As you say, Carlson is the Republican rule!
The New Yorker — You know, sounds like Andy is doing straight reporting again! It would not surprise me if Trump used public funds to bail out certain “elites” like his kids and himself.
Cartoon — A game changer . . . taking government information to the people faster. In those days, the family usually sat around the radio during the evenings, like we do the TV.
RR: He is absolutely right. I shared this video.
MSNBC: Carlson is disgusting. He is another reason why I don’t watch Faux News.
NYer: Andy is reporting straight news again. I, like the others in this group, can see the orange ogre doing this.
Thank you TomCat. I wish you luck with your tooth and well check this week.
RR is always spot on!
MSNBC: I tried! I really tried, but the garbage they spew is just so toxic. Carlson a=was on, at the gym tonight, with a piece about how all the other media “Speak with one voice.” Well, duh, yeah! Because they are aware of how full of it Drumph, and, by extension, Faux News are, or is it really the other way around? In Goebbel’s day, Faux would have been proud to state “We have the best propaganda around!”
New Yorker: Yes, Andy is doing real news again.
“Toon: FDR was not perfect, understandably, but must be rolling in his grave about now!
2:43 I think it’s about the third or fourth time this puzzle has come up, and this time the pieces of tree, sand and sea were laid out well for me to assemble.
Robert Reich: You said it so eloquently, TomCat: “Sick of getting peed on? Vote BLUE.” If there really was a trickle down economy, everyone would be happy to get trickled on a little. But when the GOP gladly helped Drumpf to implement his tax cuts for the rich, every serious economist, i.e. not on the GOP side, foretold that it wouldn’t work and that the next step of the GOP would be to cut social security, Medicaid and Medicare. Boy, that GOP is predictable, isn’t it? You’d think that among GOP and Drumpf devotees there would be enough people on social security, Medicaid or Medicare to say “enough is enough”, but apparently their anger and hate makes them blind, deaf and dumb and they’ll stay loyal to the great liars.
MSNB: True, the Tuckers and “judge Janines” of this world get away with their mind-blowing bigotry by starting their program items with a question. They give themselves the excuse that they are starting a debate on a topic, because people then forget they always follow this “question” with filling in their “side” of that debate without even bothering to have someone else fill in the other side. And when they do, they have made sure that this other side happens to coincide with theirs. If they don’t, they’re view just isn’t aired, the way Tucker Carlson deleted the Dutch Historian from his show because he couldn’t handle him. This al is standard practice on Faux News, so their apologies for anything untoward is pure ππ©.
TNY: If Andy had mentioned $50 million for bail in Drumpf’s budget, I would have found it more convincing. That amount probably comes closer to what Drumpf already has taken from the government/tax payers and stashed away for ‘a rainy day’.
I feel for you having to visit your dentist, TomCat, because I intensely dislike visiting them too. So I won’t make matters worse for you by embedding a clip of the short version, i.e. the worst of W.C. Fields’ The Dentist, just put a link here for those with a strong stomach, a wicked sense of humour and absolutely no fear of dentists. π
RR: Great one. Right on the button as usual.
MSNBC: Have to agree with Pat on this one. I have never watched Faux News, and never plan on it in the future,
TNY: Andy sure know the way tRump plays his games. Seems like something he loves doing evil things and always had. He’s mentally insane with his crazy antics.
Cartoon: Agree with Mitchell that FDR would be rolling in his grave about what is going on right now.
Sorry about hearing you had to go to he dentist. They are never fun. Believe me I know that for a fact. Plus the cost is a real pain too. Wish you luck with your next two visits.
Lona, I detest dentists ever since one dentist I had as a preteen slapped me in the face when I, reacting to a sharp instrument in my gum, bit his fingers. Hey, he left them in the way when I instinctively shut my mouth. Having said that, I loved this short video. It was funny!
I tried to add this as a reply to Lona’s comment but there was no place to type it. Has anyone else had problems today? I saw there 2 plug in updates yesterday. Could this be related to one of those?
Yes. But the workaround that worked when this first came up works again.
He does have a face that begs to be punched!
Thanks all.
I hate dentists too and have since one pulled my wisdom teeth without anesthesia 58 years ago.
I have had all four taken out. Not one was pulled. All had to be excavated. Even with anesthesia, each was painful for days. You deserve a medal.
Thank you for the news and jigsaw.π
