From TPM: Rep. John Burt, a Republican who sits on the New Hampshire House Committee on Public Safety, had dismissive words for the Moms Demand Action volunteers who were insulted Tuesday by his peers’ decision to don pearls during a hearing on a gun safety measure.
“The anti-gun out-of-state lady and the other anti-gun folks need to get over themselves,” Burt told TPM in an email, referring to Moms Demand Action founder Shannon Watts. “This had nothing to do with them. It is to support the Women’s Defense League and the good they do to train women to protect their children.”

Lawrence – I think Lindsey is being blackmailed. And I am not alone in this. There is much speculation on who is doing the blackmailing and what they might have on him, of course, and certainly no consensus, except on the blackmail existing.
Jeff – This is what I was referring to yesterday when I remarked how much I adore Jeff. Priorities!
TPM – Yes, that was quite a spectacle. I am sufficiently outraged by the concept of “pearl-clutching” referring to the height of hypocrisy (and being a snowflake) – I don’t need to go with you on the expanded definition.
Cartoon – I watched a special on Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr. last night (and willingly suffered through the fundraising to do so). The one of his documentaries that I have not seen in full is “African Americans: Many Rivers to Cross,” and I was most interested in a clip from it in which a guest explained that, exactly BECAUSE the European invaders were Christians, they HAD to tell themselves that people of color were not fully human, because, if they were, it would be impossibly sinful to enslave them. The Dred Scott decision is probably the ultimate expression of this warped viewpoint.
I considered that, but when I looked up pearl clutching, I saw that the negative impact is directed at the one doing it. But you could be right.
I didn’t say you were wrong, only that I didn’t need the expanded definition to hate them (also, when have Republicans ever gotten anything right?)

PBA: While it’s amazing to watch the vids from one train of thought to another, and where he is today, it’s downright sickening. I have to agree with Joanne’s thoughts on this. I (personally) think he’s been bought by money and greed, but who is behind it? The RR’s? Repugs and or Russia?

MSNBC: I am going to withhold judgement on the blackmail issue. I’ve not heard of it in regard to this particular jackass before, do not have any information regarding it…but would not be surprised, down the road, to find that there is discreet evidence for it.
Comparing the situation today, to the speech he gave in the Clinton case, gives me no pause for thought, as I figure he does not give hoot about the constitution, or the country, as long as he, and his GOPig cronies remain in power. Back in the clinton time, and now, as someone recently wrote, he/they are not talking to anyone but the jackass sheeple back home, those who keep re-electing these POS people.
