From CBS News: Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi vowed to pass legislation that would put so-called Dreamers — young undocumented immigrants who came to the U.S. as children — on a pathway to citizenship when her party retakes control of Congress’ lower chamber in January.
"America draws strength from our long, proud heritage as a nation of immigrants. In the Majority, Democrats will work to reverse the Republicans’ destructive anti-immigrant agenda," Pelosi said in a statement Saturday, responding to a letter sent Thursday by the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. "Our House Democratic Majority will once again pass the Dream Act to end the uncertainty and fear inflicted on patriotic young men and women across the country."
Lawmakers in the Caucus urged Pelosi — who is vying to secure her second spell as speaker of the House during the upcoming congressional session — to schedule votes on legislation to codify protections for recipients of the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and for immigrants with Temporary Protected Status (TPS) within the first 100 days of the 116th Congress.
"We will protect TPS recipients and those fleeing unimaginable violence," Pelosi added in her statement.
This is a move I fully support. RESIST!!

This is an open letter from New Mexico journalists to New Mexico Democratic politicians. With a few changes, it could be sent to every politician in office anywhere in the United States.
CNN – Isn’t it nice that the Election Commission voted UNANIMOUSLY not to certify the results. That means that, somewhere, out in the boonies, there are some Republicans who still have some honor.
Al – Mother Jones cites a new study that even video gaming is a part of it. (Of course that is online gaming in the study; downloaded games which reside in the computer may be guilty too, but that has not been studied.) Twelve years. That’s basically what we have. Twelve years.
CBS – Yes, this is a good and necessary move. Amen.
Cartoon – Alka-Seltzer is a good thing, and the aspirin-free variety is practically natural. I’m surprised big Pharma hasn’t found a way to make it illegal.

Having an election board comprising 4 each Dems and Rethugs plus one independent, which must certify the election in order for it to be valid, is what makes it possible. If you don;t have one, is anyone in your state legislature working on making one? If not, is there anyone you could light a fire under to get one?
CNN: That’s one for the books, as we don’t hear of investigations into voter fraud too much, re: the final count in voting. Good job!

CNN — The WaPo, along with a number of other publications, also covered this Republican boondoggle in North Carolina. So along with blatant voter suppression and gerrymandering, we can add outright election fraud by Republicans. So far Diaper Don has been quiet about this. I wonder why . . . maybe because it was Republicans that were caught and not Democrats whom he is always accusing? What a loser in a loser party! The chairperson in the State Board of Elections and Ethics Enforcement, Democrat Andy Penry, has resigned because of comments he made disparaging Diaper Don. He did not want his comments to colour the investigations into Harris’ primary win and Harris’ win over his Democratic opponent. Given that the board is made up of 4 Democrats, 4 Republicans and 1 non affiliated, I sure hope another Democrat is appointed to the board now, otherwise the investigations will be another example of Republican bullshit.
Buzz Feed — Aliens looking at this planet must think we are bunch of lunatics . . . who would destroy their own home without an escape route or backup plan? I posted an article sometime ago about Durban, South Africa running out of potable water and long lines at community water stations. Could that happen in the US? With the gutting of environmental regulations by the Republicans, and situations like Flint, Michigan, you bet it could happen in the US. Al Gore is spot on!
