It’s a cool day, so I think I can get away with no AC.  WWWendy is due in 15 minutes.  When we finish our tasks, I plan to spend my day in religious meditation on the wonder of the holy Ellipsoid Orb.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:21 (average 4:38).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Politico: Six of Republican Rep. Paul Gosar’s nine siblings set tongues wagging in Arizona and beyond with some of the more memorable ads of the year, urging voters of the state’s 4th congressional district to boot him from office in November.

The brothers and sisters instead encouraged voters to cast their ballots for the congressman’s Democratic opponent, David Brill, who surfaced the three spots on his YouTube page Friday. They quickly went viral.

One ad — entitled, “A Family Defends Its Honor” — opens with David Gosar, a lawyer.

All relatives of Republican politicians, pundits, and goose-steppers should do that. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From Daily Kos:

Kavanaugh and the W.H. have both denied conspiring with Ed Whelan on his bullshit hit piece but…

Washington Post

“On Sunday, Ford noticed that — even before her name became public — Whelan appeared to be seeking information about her.

That morning, Ford alerted an associate via email that Whelan had looked at her LinkedIn page, according to the email, which was reviewed by The Post. LinkedIn allows some subscribers to see who views their pages. Ford sent the email about 90 minutes after The Post shared her name with a White House spokesman and hours before her identity was revealed in a story posted on its website.

A White House spokesman said Friday that neither Kavanaugh nor anyone in the White House gave Ford’s name to Whelan before it was disclosed by The Post. Whelan did not respond to a request for comment on how he first learned of Ford’s identity.

Now we know how Christine was outed. Pervert Trump and Pervert Kava-Nazi had it done. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From Washington Post: Just as he did several weeks ago to prepare for his confirmation hearings for the Supreme Court, Brett M. Kavanaugh was back inside a room at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building — again facing questioners readying him for a high-stakes appearance in the Senate.

This time, the questions were much different. An array of White House aides, playing the role of various senators on the Judiciary Committee, quizzed Kavanaugh last week about his sex life and other personal matters in an attempt to prepare him for a hearing that would inevitably be uncomfortable.

In his answers during the practice runs, aides said, Kavanaugh condemned sexual assault and carefully avoided seeming to discredit Christine Blasey Ford, a psychology professor in Northern California who has accused the nominee of pinning her to a bed, groping her and putting his hand over her mouth to stifle her screams as he tried to take off her clothes at a drunken high school party in the early 1980s.

But Kavanaugh grew frustrated when it came to questions that dug into his private life, particularly his drinking habits and his sexual proclivities, according to three people familiar with the preparations, who requested anonymity to discuss internal deliberations. He declined to answer some questions altogether, saying they were too personal, these people said.

Hmmmm…. Does Pervert Kava-Nazi have other victims? RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

  1. Without any FBI investigation? The Republicans got what they wanted; a he said, she said. Thomas sits on the Supreme Court, so will Kavanaugh.

  2. 5:35 Anyone for tea? Some do call it “cat lap.” Have you considered this?

Politico – Aweel, too many families of goosesteppers are also goosesteppers. Of those who are not, Gosar is not alone. Stephen Miller’s family has been blistering him (so has his former rabbi). Not in attack ads because he’s not running for anything, but in interviews.

WaPo – Yeah, pretty damning, eh? I think I can see who views my page, since I get weekly emails if someone has during a week. I always assume it’s employers. Maybe I should check who they are, but, not being prominent, I haven’t been.

WaPo II – Well, a former rape investigator is sure he has other victims, on the evidene that he turned up the radio and put his hand over her mouth while too drunk to think rationally. She deduced he’d done it before.

    Cartoon – SO sick!

    May your meditations be fruitful!

  3. Politicio: WOW! I gotta give them (all) credit where’s it due, and this is one family that deserves it. Boy, I guess that makes any family functions kinda awkward in getting together, eh?

WaPo: She couldn’t even be anonymous w/o this cad looking her up. ugh! Then lying about, knowing that he looked her up.

WaPo2: He’s hiding something from his past. I hope they find out what they are. Better yet, refuse or pass over the nomination, Kava!!

    Cartoon: Frightening!!!

Hi Wendy! Well, we lost, it’s our 3rd straight loss, 22-27 Giants. What a bummer. Hope they come back from this streak. Hope your guys win, enjoy your evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

*This just in: “Has anyone tried unplugging the Country and plugging it back in?” ~ Turnip ~

  4. Politico: Goes to show just how dysfunctional Republican families can be. Especially in these times.

WP: If Kava-nut won’t answer questions about his personal life, that should tell you a lot about whether he is fit to serve on the Supreme Court.

A further observation: What if a Democratic Prez had nominated a left-wing judge? Republicans would be digging up all sorts of dirt on him/her. Right-wing organizations would be making petitions left and right calling for Congress to vote against confirmation. Before any right-wingers howl about what progressives and liberals are doing to stop Kava-nah, ask them what measures they would take to stop the confirmation of a left winger who wants to keep abortion legal, favors immigrant and LGBTQ rights, and actually believes in science.

Cartoon: Like so many of TomCat’s cartoons, sadly true.

  5. Politico: At least some people have scruples!
    DK: So, who is surprised?
WP: I saw that, as well, and recall that those doing the coaching were glad that he set up a barrier, saying that that was the right thing to do.  I hope the committee crashes the barrier, but do not have much hope.  Apparently, another woman has come forward with a story our hero will not want to hear.
    ‘Toon: Too damn true!

  6. Politico: At first glance a little sibling rivalry here, but when nine well-educated and successful brothers and sisters speak out so strongly against a tenth, this is obviously not the case. He may always have been the outlier, and they may have “hated his guts” ever since he was a toddler, but this is a clear, and sad, example of what the current divisive political climate in America can bring about. Apparently Gosar is very likely to be re-elected, so this brave stance against one of their own is a waste of their money and time, but the siblings should be thanked for their effort. Paul Gosar won’t be joining his siblings for Thanksgiving this year, but I suspect he hasn’t done that for decades anyway.

DK: No surprise there. The way to break a(n) (attempted) rape victim is break down all barriers of confidentiality and make the victim distrust everyone and unsure and self-conscious. And Wheland, the White House and The Post have succeeded in doing exactly that.

WP: I hope that session made Kavanaugh just as distrustful, unsure and self-conscious as the outing has made Prof. Ford fee, and that it makes him look very guilty during the next hearing. If he’s done it to other women, let’s hope they are found as soon as possible and are willing to speak out.

Cartoon:  Sigh. Kavanaugh could do with a bit of that; just enough to have him withdraw.

  7. Puzzle — 4:32  Is the pot full of coffee for the Puddy Tat?

Politico — I read this on Friday while testing my internet connection.  You know things are bad when the entire family comes out publicly to diss you!  I would love to hear how politician Gosar defines family values!

Daily Kos — “Now we know how Christine was outed. Pervert Trump and Pervert Kava-Nazi had it done.” — But the question is ‘why?’!  The only logical reason is ‘truth’.  Ford is telling the truth and Diaper Don and Kavanazi know it.  Guilty!!!  This will upend Diaper Don’s plan for a conservative SCOTUS pick right before the mid terms. If there was nothing to her allegations, nothing to fear, then there would not be any fear of consequences.  It is quite obvious that a diaper change is in order because as my daddy used to say, Diaper Don is ‘shitting bricks’!!!

WaPo — I read somewhere during the weekend that Kavanazi was a central member of a drinking group — their plan was to drink 100 kegs of beer before graduation from high school.  If I recall, his high school friend, Mark Judge, was also a member of this group and was named as the other person at the alleged rape of Ford.

    USA Today contained this:

“Judge, a conservative writer, wrote memoirs titled “Wasted: Tales of a GenX Drunk” and “God and Man at Georgetown Prep.” He said his drinking and “immorality” began at Georgetown Prep, according to excerpts published by the Post.

In “Wasted,” Judge wrote about a character named “Bart O’Kavanaugh” who drank until he passed out, according to the Post.”

It seems that Kavanazi is more likely the one who is, as Orrin Hatch said of Ford, confused about the day in question.

AlterNet is reporting that there are now 3 additional accusers of Kavanazi. Where there is smoke there is usually fire. Isn’t this the same kind of thing that happened in the Bill Cosby case — strength in numbers.

Although he has not done so, how can Kavanazi continue with this charade of propriety when clearly it is a lie.  And what kind of example is he setting for his daughters!  Kavanazi should withdraw his nomination.

Cartoon — Truly sad but true from my vantage point.

    • Just pointing out that there is a difference between passing out and blacking out.  Passing out is becoming unconscious like being asleep or in a coma, and therefore unable to move or speak. No one is going to do anything stupid while passed out.  Blacking out, on the other hand, can’t be determined while someone is in it.  The person is fully in control of his or her body, and appears to be acting with intention, even normally.  But a day later (and pretty well forever after), the person has no memory of what he or she did during that period.  Blacking out may also be a symptom of some allergies (not to get into the argument on whether alcoholism itself is or isn’t an allergy).

      • You and I know the difference but I hazard a guess that the distinction is lost on many, if not most, people.  It is also possible to black out and pass out, depending on the circumstances but I think that would be far more rare.  In Kavanazi’s case, I think he likely passed out at some point afterwards but chose  to “forget” the incident.  Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on the perspective, Ford was so traumatised that she will never forget.

    • I agree with JD.  In my youth I have no recollection of what I did before my car drove me home on a few occasions. 16

  8. Thanks all!  OGIM Hugs! 19
