The heat here at the CatBox is horrid. Last night at bedtime (8:30) it was still 92° with 49% humidity. I slept poorly and feel very tired.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 3:52 (average 5:46). To di it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Nunes On Secret Tape: Brett Kavanaugh Vote, Then Rod Rosenstein Impeachment – 20 min.
Could it be that in Washington DC, Nunes has to keep his head so far up his Fuhrer’s butt that his neck is brown. The only way I know to defeat this Republican criminal conspiracy to obstruct justice is to flip the House. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!
From YouTube (Robert Reich Channel): Robert Reich: Why Right-to-Work is Wrong
The Reich on the left, Robert Reich, is right. The Reich on the right, the Republican Reich, is trying to create a right for rich employers to make workers bend over and grab their ankles. Support labor! RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!
From The New Yorker: With Tuesday’s special election in Ohio still too close to call, Republican officials in the state acknowledged that they outspent Democrats to the tune of a hundred million rubles.
Harland Dorrinson, a spokesman for the Ohio Republican Party, told reporters on Wednesday that if the G.O.P. ekes out a win, it will have been worth all of the Russian currency the Party threw at the race.
“You can talk ground game all you want, but, at the end of the day, you can’t buy TV and radio ads without rubles,” he said.
Dorrinson credited the Republican congressional-campaign committee for what he called a “highly successful ruble-raising effort.”
Andy, that’s great investigative journalism! RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
4:52 The background looks more like malachite than the butterfly.
Something I didn’t know until last night – I knew that Leonard Bernstein was in Berlin when the Wall came down, and I vaguely knew he had conducted Beethoven’s Ninth there (with an orchestra put together for the occasion including instrumentalists from all over the world – I don’t know about the chorus). What I didn’t know was that, on that one occasion, Bernstein had the chorus change “Freude” to “Freiheit” throughout.
A commenter on Disqus presented what I consider a great idea, specifically to address the contingency of Orange Judas claiming that a November Blue Wave will have been due to Russian hacking. I’ve memed it and show it below in lieu of a “RESIST” graphic today.
MSNBC – I figured you’d be on to this. How stupid can they be not to know something like this WILL get out! If they had any brains at all, the last person to do something like this would have been 47% Mitt Romney! But they keep doing it and doing it! Securities fraud on a White House phone is just one recent example.
Reich – CO has been a “Right to Work” state for quite some time. It also affected companies which did provide benefits, when it came to wages. But we haven’t been able to do much if anything about it. Maybe we can soon … I hope.
TNY – More coming out in the open. I would believe this as straight news!
Cartoon – Yup. (Did they build that with rubles?)
Proud to have voted “NO!” – and thereby repealing Missouri’s “right to work” law last Tuesday.
MSNBC: Wow!!! Great video by Rachel. They’re coming out of the woodwork, and Nunes is leading the pack of sneaky snakes. wow!
Reich: Good video, Texas is not a ‘Right to Work’ state. Yet. Will vote NO if it comes up.
NYer: Standard currency in the not so far future? Hell no !!!! LOL, Andy!
Cartoon: Yea, …with a roof and everything!
Hope you get your rest, and take good care, enjoy your evening. Thanks, Tom. *Got preseason tonight Texans – KC @7:30 tonight… 😉
*Nameless: WTG !!!
Why, thank you.
Wasn’t surprised by the outcome – but was surprised by the resounding margin!
“Yes” (for keeping right to work law): ~ 33%
“NO” (AGAINST right to work law): ~ 67%

Right-to-work laws are wolves in sheep’s clothing. They need to be not only abolished, but outlawed.
Another nasty policy that keeps too much money in the dirty trotters of the 1% is stock buybacks. These artificially inflate stock prices while keeping money out of the hands of rank-and-file workers, who are the real lifeblood of this country. Please sign this petition to ban them.
Yep, the Republican Party is definitely in the sh***er.
OMG 49% humidity! CRIKEY!!That would kill me TC!!i wish i could send you some of our BIG chill!Stay cool mate! ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
“…if they tell a lie often enough, and they put it out there….” Sure, you know about this, this is part of the GOPIG credo, seen soooooo often of Faux News. Public statements by the GOPIG leadership are not worth a liquid ounce of pee! Apparently, Nunes, et al. knows that Dumpy is implicated in the investigation, hell, he’s the witch!
Reich: Right to work is really right to fire, at will!
New Yorker: Da, tovarich!
‘Toon: Rubles, or not, it is where they belong!
Rachel Maddow: Great news-breaking item. Perhaps it’s good that it’s content will mostly make Democrats and left-leaning voters even more determined to vote Republicans into minority, even non-existence, and that republicans will either never hear of it, believe the Republican denial of it, or that it is fake news and will not go to the voting boots in greater numbers than they already did to save their party from going down. But take nothing for granted, Democrats and vote blue!
Robert Reich: Bravo for Missouri proving Reich right by such a great margin (2/3 of the vote!). Now how about these other states?!
TNY: They must have seen yesterday’s fall of the ruble coming. “The fall of the ruble has been swift and devastating. Carl Weinberg, chief economist at High Frequency Economics, referred to the currency’s plummet as “an unrecoverable spiral” in a note to clients on Tuesday.”(Fortune). Is this what they call Karma?
Cartoon: It seems to seat at least three Republicans at a time; make sure Republican HQ will need only a one-seater in November.
Puzzle — 3:21 Is it true Puddy Tat that butterfly legs taste a lot like chicken? Too bad you won’t get the chance to test that assumption this time!!!
MSNBC — It’s not that Nunes HAS to keep his head so far up Diaper Don’s ass, he chooses to do so because he is a little boy who can’t think or reason for himself, and because he likes the stroking he gets from Diaper Don, . . . it makes him feel important. Diaper Don tweeted that Nunes is a patriotic American hero??? Pardon me while I barf!!! I agree with you that the only solution is to flip the House. That solves two problems — no impeachment of Rosenstein, and Mueller’s investigation continues to its logical conclusion. Flip the Senate too and the Congress will finally be able to do the work of the People. Wouldn’t Diaper Don get his knickers in a twist if that happened.
Robert Reich — What a misnomer! Employees only have the right to work if they will take lower wages and few to no benefits. It seems tantamount to modern slavery! Republicans want to take the American workers back to the Industrial Revolution!
The New Yorker — Straight reporting? I wonder if Diaper Don has made arrangements with Putin to have his likeness printed on the 100 ruble bill.
Cartoon — Yup! All meetings are held in the basement!
It is so hot that I can’t sleep. It was 34C (93F) and the humidity was over 60%. As I write the temp has gone down but humidity is 78%. I am hoping Friday will be much cooler, but I won’t believe it until I feel it. Although I have not spoken to her yet, Sareena and her mum returned this evening from 5 weeks in Iran visiting family. I have really missed her and her shenanigans.
Thanks and hot hugs. ?️
