From The New Yorker: Asserting that “heroic measures” were needed to save the National Rifle Association from financial catastrophe, the N.R.A.’s president, Oliver North, announced plans to sell arms to Iran.
“Iran needs weapons, and, Lord knows, we have a lot of weapons lying around,” North told reporters on Sunday. “This is the definition of a win-win.”
North said that he came up with the idea of selling arms to Iran because “the Iranians were always great to deal with” and “never cared where the money was going to.”

Reich – I’d heard of it too. “That nobody’s talking about,” which he also said, is more accurate, isn’t it.
CNN – I did see a great breakdown of this tweet, but can’t immediately find it. Hopefully I can later, and will update.

Robert Reich: Yes, I knew about it too, because I distinctly remember the topic was brought up right here on Politics Plus to make another case for voting blue in the 2016 elections. I can’t remember the details, but there’s little reason to think things will have gotten better in the meantime, right? If Americans allow 38 states to call for the Convention the country will end up in utter chaos, even in more chaos than it is in now. The possibility of this Convention and lifting the veil on who’s behind it should be on the Democratic agenda to create awareness of this further threat to American democracy.
CNN: So now Drumpf makes his own son out to be a perjurer for the commission. Next please…
TNY: I’m sure that something like this must have crossed Ollie’s mind when he found out about the financial state of the NRA after he took its helm. Lot’s of countries in dire need of some weapons lying around in the US, so someone needs to keep an eye on these guys. But who? Everyone is either in the pockets of the NRA or too busy investigating Drumpf, his administration, his family, his friends and advisers, the odd Republican here and there.
Everytown for Gun Safety will be watching, and there are other groups as well.

Robert Reich — Like Lona, I have remember hearing about the possibilities in the past but didn’t think it would come to pass. Now, with Diaper Don in the WH, and with the likes of Jim Jordan, Steve King, Devin Nunes, Dana Rohrabacher, Louie Goh-merde and others in congress, the “likely to happen” quotient went way up. That is why it is so import to get out the vote and vote BLUE in November. Don’t let Republicans tread on the US people any more!
CNN — As you say “Drip… Drip… Drip…”! It is interesting that with the tweets etc recently, Diaper Don appears to be throwing his “wonderful son” under the bus. Perhaps they will get adjoining prison cells.
The New Yorker — At least in 1985 during the Iran-Contra scandal, North was trying to be deceptive. Age must be catching up because Ollie is just going straight for the cash. Perhaps the NRA should not have spent all that cash on bribing mostly Republican congress critters. If he isn’t careful, Ollie could do a second stretch in the slammer.
