It’s hard to find a redder state than Kansas, at least partially due to the extreme racist, fascist, homophobic, misogynous Secretary of State, Chris Kobitch. There is a woman running for the 3rd US Congressional District that has all the requirements to cause Kobitch to have a full pants-load, if she wins, and I’d love to see either her win the nomination, and if not her, Welder, a Bernie activist.
Like mixed martial arts, running for Congress involves patience, determination, and the ability to fight without taking attacks personally.
Sharice Davids, a professional MMA fighter, Native American, openly gay attorney, and first-time candidate made that comparison on Sunday, just two days before she will have face other Democrats in a tightly contested race for Kansas’ 3rd congressional seat. Early this year, Davids said she looked at the field of candidates challenging Rep. Kevin Yoder (R-KS) and found there was nobody who looked like her on the ballot.
“We need more people who look like the rest of the country to be running for office,” Davids, who had a White House fellowship until the beginning of Donald Trump’s presidency, told ThinkProgress.
Davids said she saw that there were no leading women in the race for the district that includes Kansas City and its suburbs, which includes one county that went for Hillary Clinton in 2016. She also recognized that she would be the only candidate with federal policy experience and the only candidate with a distinctive background…

Yoder is one of those Republicans who goes from old-style GOP moderate to closet KKK depending on his audience. He is without integrity, courage or honor.

Now, can you imagine how Kobitch would react, if she won the seat? Best of all, she could nail Kobitch between the legs with a spinning back-kick that plugs his mouth with his dingles.

Sharice Davids just recently got the Kansas City Star endorsement for the Democratic primary.
The 3rd District is made up of Johnson & Wyandotte counties – 2 of the 6 counties on the Kansas side of the Metro. (There are 8 counties on the Missouri side).

We’ve got a great gubernatorial candidate here in Georgia – Stacey Abrams, who has already made history as the first black female candidate for governor of ANY state. If elected, she will be not just Georgia’s first female governor, but the state’s first non-white governor, to say nothing of being the first black female governor of any US State.
From Georgia to Kansas, I wish the very best for Davids. May she kick Rethuglicanazi butt in November!
For Drumpfian Kansas Davids has a lot of strikes against her: a Democrat, a woman, openly gay, Native American, mixed martial arts for a hobby…but in the district she’s running they could all work in her favour. Let’s hope they are; a Democrat with sensible policies in the third seat of Kansas could be the major breakthrough Democrats are looking for.
