From The New Yorker: Millions of Americans were foiled in their attempts to purchase groceries on Wednesday after failing to provide the proper government-issued I.D. cards.
From coast to coast, food-seeking scofflaws were turned away from supermarkets, convenience stores, and fruit markets as they tried to circumvent the nation’s long-standing grocery I.D. laws.
“Given that Americans have been required to show I.D. to buy food for years, it’s amazing that people still try to get away with this,” Carol Foyler, a supermarket cashier in Fresno, California, said. “It’s always, ‘Oh, I left my food I.D. in my other pants,’ or some B.S. like that. Believe me, I’ve heard it all.”
In Cleveland, Ohio, a man attempting to buy a loaf of bread, two yogurts, and a bottle of Fanta tried to use another consumer’s food I.D. to make the purchase, but was busted by sharp-eyed security personnel.

From NY Times: President Trump called on Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Wednesday to end the special counsel’s inquiry into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, issuing an unambiguous directive on Twitter to shut down an investigation that even now is scrutinizing his tweets for evidence of obstruction.
If that isn’t Obstruction of Justice, what is? RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

Trey – He does have their number, doesn’t he? Including the bothsiderism. (I recently got an email with the news they are going to tape a show live and make an album.) One small carp – gay people in office often DO have families – and much nicer than straight families – and I think that would make even more heads explode than saying he doesn’t.
TNY – This is a subject it is not difficult to make fun of (and the comments are really wild)
NYT – Doing it out in public in a tweet – we may all know he has corrupt intent, but it’s harder to prove that in court. That’s why, when they put Al Capone away, it was for tax evasion. That leaves a paper trail, and intent need not be proved. (And that’s why Mueller really, really wants to tslk to Trump, and is even willing to give his lawyers questions in advance, or so I read in a bulletin from the Washington Post yesterday.)

TC: Trae is a breath of fresh air among rednecks. And any Tristan Gayman-Frenchname is to be preferred to a Republican, despite his choice of (his wife’s) blouse.
TNY: You’re so right, Andy, the right to vote is just as basic as the right to buy food. Neither should be infringed upon and neither should be taken for granted.
NYT: All Drumpf wants is to keep the conversation going, to imprint yet again on the tiny brains of his followers that there was no collusion and it isn’t illegal at the same time. And he’s not guilty of anything, but he’s going to pardon himself, just as he is going to pardon any of his hoodlum friends if they stay true to him. Because they haven’t done anything wrong either. And because all media are spreading his tweets and discussing them over and over again, the imprinting is soooo easy.

The New Yorker — Everyday, Diaper Don demonstrates just how out of touch and demented he is. This is totally out there yet his ardent, misguided supporters are still lining up behind him. I am finding it very hard to see Andy’s humour in this one because it is just too close to the insanity of the WH resident.
NY Times — In my opinion, for what it is worth, Diaper Don, the petulant toddler resident in the WH, is guilty of obstruction of justice and has demonstrated it many times.
A true American president should know that venting, as his attorney’s have claimed his tweets are, in a public forum is NOT acceptable, not when you are seen as the “leader of the free world”. And as a result, yes the world is laughing at Diaper Don and his bullshit . . . when they are not crying because they have to somehow deal with this idiot. So many, if not all of his cabinet are “yes” people and therefore are more likely to take this as a direct order, not venting. So yes, this is obstruction of justice.
