The more apparent it becomes that Donald Trump, Fuhrer of the Republican Party and accomplice of Vladimir Putin (R-RU) is getting desperate, because the investigation is closing in on him, the more Republicans make it clear that they are too cowardly, too dishonest, and/or too anti-American to protect the investigation.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday thwarted a bipartisan effort to protect special counsel Robert Mueller’s job, saying he will not hold a floor vote on the legislation even if it is approved next week in the Senate Judiciary Committee.
McConnell said the bill is unnecessary because President Donald Trump will not fire Mueller.
“We’ll not be having this on the floor of the Senate,” McConnell said on Fox News.
His comments came amid widespread opposition to the bill among members of his caucus, with several GOP senators saying the bill is unconstitutional. Others said it’s simply not good politics to try and tell Trump what to do, likening the legislation to “poking the bear.”
The bipartisan legislation was introduced last week as Trump publicly criticized Mueller, who is investigating potential ties between Russia and Trump’s 2016 campaign as well as possible obstruction of justice by the president. Trump, fuming about a raid of his personal lawyer’s office by a different division of the FBI, said last week that the Mueller investigation is “an attack on our country” and is “corrupt.”…

A few days ago, Jim posted THIS LINK to the “No One Is Above The Law” site where all the events that are set up for rapid response are recorded, and where you can find one near you, sign up to show up (in which case you will get notified of where to show up when), or start and register a new event if there isn’t one close enough to you to attend. If you are inspired by that Resistance Alert above, and can and want to take part, this is the place to get the information.
Does anyone besides me suspect that, if McConnell knew for a fact that the bill would NOT be passed with a veto proof majority – that is, either it would fail, or pass by only one or two votes – he might well bring it to a vote? Ans that if he thought it would fail, he would DEFINITELY bring it to a vote, to make the point? I find it a little bit encouraging that he can’t be certain.

Firing Mueller wouldn’t help Drumpf in the FBI investigation into Cohen and himself, but when has anyone seen Drumpf using common sense? So I do hope that ordinary Americans, unable to talk sense in their Republican representatives to protect Mueller from being fired, will take immediately to the streets in the hundred thousands to peacefully protest the attack on their Constitution and their democracy when Drumpf does fire Mueller. And that the FBI redoubles their efforts to get Drumpf criminally charged on whatever they have found in Cohen’s papers.

Where did McTurtle get that idea that Drumpf won’t effect the firing Mueller by one means or another? Let’s see . . . Comey, Preet Bharara, Sally Yates, Sam Nunberg (this racist moron is no great loss), Stephen Bannon (another racist moron, among other things, that is no great loss), and then there are not fired so far but in line like Rod Rosenstein, Jeff Sessions (although IMO, Sessions deserves it if for no other reason than he is a racist Republican SOB!) and others.
An excellent piece by Rachel (as usual!). IMO, McTurtle and other congressional Republicans have absolutely no interest in the truth, only the power and greed that proceeds from the power. To call these Republicans blood sucking leeches is an understatement!
If Drumpf does fire Mueller, Americans must turn out in massive numbers to protest and demand his immediate re-instatement. The investigation must continue unfettered! No one, not even POTUS, is above the law. Clearly Drumpf thinks he is.
