The Criminal in Chief of the Republican Party threw such a hissy fit over the FBI raid on fixer Michael Cohen that he has stopped his pretense of cooperation with the Mueller investigation. Since it seems unlikely that Trump will allow an interview with Mueller, it appears that Mueller sees no need to delay making his report of Trump’s obstruction of justice. Ready! Aim!
Special counsel Robert Mueller’s office and President Donald Trump’s legal team are now proceeding with strategies that presume a presidential interview will likely not take place as part of the Russia investigation, after months of talks between the two sides collapsed earlier this week, according to multiple people familiar with the matter.
On Monday Trump’s lawyers were discussing a possible interview with Mueller’s team and had begun to hash out the final sticking points, including the timing, scope and length, according to people familiar with the discussions. One person familiar with the strategy said the president’s lawyers had sought over the weekend to expand his legal team to include individuals who would prepare him for an interview. Another person familiar with the matter, however, said preparations had not yet gone that far.
But the prospects for a presidential interview drastically dimmed once the FBI raided the home, office and hotel room of Trump’s long-time personal lawyer, Michael Cohen on Monday, these people said. The president criticized the raid as out of bounds in Mueller’s investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election and possible collusion with Trump aides…
…Now, according to two sources, Mueller’s team may be able to close the obstruction probe more quickly as they will not need to prepare for the interview or follow up on what the president says… [emphasis added]

Rachel Maddow fills in the blanks on Mueller’s plan.
Mueller has Trump on those four Obstruction findings and will certainly have him on campaign finance crimes. And then we can deal with his conspiracy with Russia.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Mueller has Drumpf by the short and curlies and is swinging him hard, around and around and around and where he will stop, nobody knows! Drumpf has contributed mightily to his own downfall and deserves to reside in a federal prison which will not pander to his whims and fantasies. Once Drumpf is found guilty and in prison, Mueller should be declared a national hero.
Love Rachel, ‘Normal Thursday’. lol
FIRE IN THE HOLE, FIRE IN THE HOLE, FIRE IN THE HOLE!!!
Awwww, widdle Dowwald, did that waid on ya lawya-poo’s office bug ya? Here’s your yuuuge boddle full of milky-wilky.
Rachel: she is 100% right: the answer is “YES!” Pompeo, a victim of tDump’s hubristic idiocy? Cool. Ryan? May the GOPIGGIES choke on sausage of their very own making, and flesh! Pruitt: We are seeing just what kind of pig he has long been. “Gossamer thread,” tighter, tighter, tenser, ohhh pfft, all gone now. Butler? So, he’s going to ride a missile into Syria, just like in the movie? Between him and tDump, the government will become as emptied as tDump, aka “The Empty Orange,”hisself?
Won’t have to prepare for the presidential interview, NOR respond to the bulls**t that one can expect would have flowed from the Orange anus! Good. tDump, then, will have less of a platform with which to plead to his cess pool of rabid supporters. Sooner may be very better, he said improperly, but enjoying himself, as it could help push the GOPIGGIES further from control of congress, and, possibly send tDump on his way.
The indictment/impeachment question is huge, will probably be one of the issues upon which generations of law students will be taught about, if the U.S.A. lives long enough.
tDump has been emptying out the government, by failing to make huge numbers of appointments, Butler is setting himself up as numero uno, and dos, tres, quatro, etc., and we might see just how crazy the two lunatics in charge can be. BUCKLE UP, BABY!
Rachel knows very well it wasn’t a “normal Thursday.” (She also knows how to speak in snark font.) It looks to me that Mueller knows even better than Trump how to create distractions. All in all, Thursday may have been a good day.
Another smart move by Mueller’s team: letting media conclude he’s not interviewing Drumpf – just think of the enormous amount of work that will safe on chasing all the lies Drumpf would spew in just a short interview – and is therefore close to finishing his report on obstruction. Neither the dumbest of his lawyers Drumpf has left, nor Bolton, would now advise to fire Mueller at this point. If they did, even Republicans won’t be able to deny that is blatant obstruction in the face of the four instances of obstruction Drumpf is already impeachable on.
So, all that’s left for Drumpf is some minor distractions, like the missile strike on Syria, carefully avoiding any Russians that may not have left in time. And pretty useless, as Syria knew they were coming and is blowing most of those expensive smart missiles out of the sky with equally expensive and smart Russian missile defense systems. Another bright day for the weapon industry. This strike is just as much for show and distraction as the retaliation for the chemical attack a year ago. Drumpf also pardoned Libby yesterday, another minor distraction as Mueller may see himself obliged to add this to “dangling pardons in front of witnesses who might testify against him”. Let’s hope Mueller doesn’t need to do that to make his case, but also makes it clear to these witnesses that an impeached president can’t pardon anyone.
The one I feel rather sorry for is Rosenstein. I don’t know if he is obliged to tell Drumpf that he’s received the report, but as soon as word gets out he has is, pressure from the White House and his own department (Jeff Sessions) will be unbearable. I hope he’s strong enough to stand up to a raging and threatening Drumpf.
Thanks all. Hugs!
If only Lona had but up that target when I had Republicosis! ?
