It’s a very busy day, here at the CatBox.  I’ve made four trips to the porcelain worship site to express my opinion of the Republican Party.  I changed the poll.  I researched today’s articles.  I prepared the graphics and collected the data I will need to prepare tomorrow’s Monthly Report for March.  I need two things: a nap and a cork.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:54 (average 5:33).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (MSNBC Challenge): Dems’ 2018 challenge: find message on taxes, health care

Some things must be absolute, like protecting Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. Others are more situational.  RESIST!!

From Washington PostSomehow, it didn’t seem as though he got the spirit of the holiday. “President Donald Trump again called for an end to the filibuster and said there will be no deal with Democrats on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, also known as DACA.

Trump still hates Latinos. Republicans would insane to nuke the filibuster now. They are likely to lose the Senate. RESIST!!

From Think Progress: \Seattle-based ABC affiliate KOMO-TV says its owner, the conservative-leaning Sinclair Broadcast Group, is forcing its reporters to air pre-scripted segments about fake news media, in an attempt to undermine non-Sinclair stations.

Sinclair has long produced “must-run” segments for its stations, dispersing them to its various subsidiaries and requiring the local stations to run controversial, typically conservative commentary promos alongside their regular news coverage. However, in recent weeks, it’s begun turning its sights on the competition, throwing in mentions of “fake news,” among other things.

“The promos, which began airing on the station last week, are part of a Sinclair campaign that forces local anchors to read Sinclair-written scripts warning of the dangers of ‘one-sided news stories plaguing our country,’” the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported on Thursday.

Here’s the video:

Barf Bag Barrage!!

You won’t see a better example of the Republican bubble machine in action, as they categorize any stations that do not goose-step with Fuhrer Drumpfenfarten as fake news.  RESIST!!

  1. 6:01 But, kitty, you don’t want to eat any of those – they’re plastic (if not concrete)!

I just absolutely LOVE this kid!

MSNBC – “Some things must be absolute, like protecting Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. Others are more situational.” Absolutely. Now if we can only manage to agree on something so simple. And we have to do it better than superlatively in order to overcome existing gerrymandering which there is not enough time to attack and repeal before November.

WaPo – Yes, wasn’t THAT discouraging and hurtful!

TP – I’m sorry, I couldn’t bear to watch it. I’m not sure why I should be feeling a little down today, but I am, and I thought I’d better refrain. I did already know about it from reading, though. Well, maybe that’s why.

    Cartoon – Yup!

I’m betting that because I didn’t run this yesterday, no one will be expecting it to run at all.

  2. The Dems may have momentum now, but they have to maintain it with something positive rather than something negative. Right now most of their support boils down to “We’re not the party of tRump.” That’s not much of a message, and it won’t keep them rolling into November – and beyond. They need to stand for something positive: reasonable gun policy, tax fairness, better wages, government and business accountability, et cetera.

The Dems need to have real campaigns, and run TO WIN. Only winners make policy; all the losers can do is protest.

That cartoon is dead on, though IMHO it would have been even better if all those tarts had been blonde.

  3. MSNBC: Good video, I hope with these issues on everyone’s minds that our candidates protect those issues that are most important to their voters.

    WaPo: Geesh! What a hater!!

TP: Very frightening, to me. KEYE is the big one here, out of Austin. Here’s the list by state: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_stations_owned_or_operated_by_Sinclair_Broadcast_Group

    Cartoon: Word.

Your comment hit my funny bone. “A nap & a cork”. I hope that you get a chance to rest. Take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

*Joanne: That young man is going places!!! for sure!! thx for the link.

  4. MSNBC: Dems need to be together, and supportive of one another.
WP: tDump hates anything that does not look or smell like him.  He keeps playing to the fools who comprise his base base.
TP: Just another one sided propaganda tank!

  5. MSNBC: One big, POSITIVE overall message is important. Positive local issues are great too, but should never run contra the one unifying issue agreed upon or override it. Most important is: “Keep it simple and short”, even for intellectuals. If you can’t get the message across in a few statements, it’s not a good message. If you need to lecture, it’s not a good message. Emotions are allowed. That’s about the only thing Republicans are good in: arousing negative emotions. Democrats should arouse positive emotions.

WP: I can’t embed the video, but this Australian one, of a show called Planet America, explains perfectly and with a bit of humour why the fate of a generation of immigrants now lies in the hands of Donald Trump.
Who are the Dreamers and why is their future at risk? Worth watching.

TP: Yes, they’re absolutely right. Sinclair is extremely dangerous to our democracy.

Hope the frequency of your visits to the porcelain throne is back to normal by now, TomCat. Catch up on some sleep, why don’t you.

  6. Puzzle — 4:07  Don’t salivate over what might have been Puddy Tat . . . they’re not real!

MSNBC — While listening to the video, I cast back to the furor created by a Colorado Republican on a Republican group’s FB page.  As reported in AlterNet, part of the comment reads:

“Democrats love poor people because they think that poor people will vote Democrat. Republicans hate poor people because they think the dignity of man is above being poor,” the original post said.

Now we all, well at least progressives do, know that Republicans are trying to line their own pockets by cutting affordable healthcare, whisking through a scam tax reform, and as Lyin’ Ryan would like to do, privatising social security.  They don’t give a rat’s ass about the “dignity of man”!

IMO, Medicare, Medicaid and social security are all programmes that benefit the disadvantaged, the elderly and the poor the most.  Now tell me again how this is about the dignity of man.

WaPo — Wait!  Isn’t it Democrats who are throwing Latinos under the bus by not coming to the table to discuss DACA? . . . she says dripping with sarcasm.

““President Donald Trump again called for an end to the filibuster and said there will be no deal with Democrats on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, also known as DACA.”

In typical Republican projection, and typical Drumpf lying, Drumpf is screwing himself and Republicans come the mid terms.

Think Progress — The Russians are coming!!!  The Russians are coming!!!  Oh wait, they’re already here!!!

“…Sinclair national correspondent Kristine Frazao, who previously worked at Russian state-run media outlet RT.

    …”

“Sinclair regularly runs disinformation segments favorable to President Trump: one of its staples is a recurring pre-taped segment featuring Sinclair’s chief political analyst, Russian-born former Trump adviser Boris Epshteyn

    .”

Add to that, the Russian diplomats like Kislyak, and Putin himself who are in and out the WH door as if it revolved.  Putin is expected at the WH in the near future according to AlterNet.  Is Drumpf now Boris and Nikki Haley, Natasha?

Cartoon — Ain’t that the truth!

  7. Thanks and tired hugs to all! 35
