  1. Great clips, all.  Thank you.  I wondered whether Yolanda Renee was Dr. Bernice’s daughter, but I’ve looked it up and I see she’s the daughter of another sibling.  (Although Bernice spoke of her pretty darned proudly.)  Thanks again.

  2. I love Joanne’s picture, it is what I remember about growing up in Southern CA……………and why it is so crowded

  3. Awesome! Awesome!
Rise/Stand UP, and be Heard. We have a wonderful generation RISING up too!!
Sam Fuentes, you made me cry, as did Emma, and others with your passionate words.

  4. I wasn’t able to take part in my local satellite march due to a previous engagement, but I am with all of them in spirit! This could indeed be the beginning of something big and positive.

  5. These kids give me hope for the future!  That must stay galvinized!

  6. I had a busy day Saturday but was able to see a good deal of the coverage on MSNBC as I had the TV on in the kitchen and also in the living room as I ran back and forth.  I quite often was forcing back the tears. I’m so proud of these young people. I would add one more video to your list if I could. It would be that of 11 year old Naomi Wadler.  She spoke for the young women of color disproportionately killed but who do not make the headlines. The poise of that 11 year old girl!  I look forward to voting for her in another 10 years or so.

  7. “Power to the people”, make that “Power to young people”, because they understand that if they do not become politically active right now they may never have a chance to do so again. Wonderful to hear that they’ve planned voter registrations to coincide with their walk-outs.

And though it isn’t a partisan issue – well, it shouldn’t be – we all know which party will shaking in their boots most of all when millennials start to vote. I had to laugh when a girl said modern communication such as twitter was now used as a weapon…how does it feel, Mr. Drumpf, when your tool is turned against you? ?

  8. Thanks all.  I could have included many more videos.  Hugs! 35

  9. “We the People” will not be silenced!  “We the People” are seeking justice from a system that favours the rich and powerful.  I think it was David Hogg that said this isn’t about political parties or ideologies but about men, women, children without regard to race, economic status, religion etc.  This is a march for life.

Yesterday, The sermon at church was based on two scripture lessons, one of which was Micah 6:8 —

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.”

One of several examples that Pastor Dave noted was the plethora of marches by students around the US, and yes around the world.  For my congregation, despite the way the world seems to act, this is a no brainer.  And when I see the kids organising these marches and participating in them, I see justice and kindness in action.  And Sam Fuentes was lauded and applauded for continuing with her speech after throwing up on national TV.

I loved listening to Yolanda Renee King, MLK Jr’s granddaughter, with “I have a dream that enough is enough!”.  Talk about channeling her grandfather!

But these protests are not about the individual presenters but about all people, people who want positive change in the US gun culture so that kids can study and grow up without fear of being killed.  These kids are the adults in the rooms of America, not the politicians, not the NRA!

These kids give me hope!  They do not give their consent for how things are done now.
