When it became clear that Ted ‘Uranus’ Cruz could not win, Nazi Billionaire Robert Mercer flipped to Trump. Trump inherited three things, in addition to a bottomless pants load of money. He got Smellyanne Conway, Steve ‘Breitfart’ Bannon, and propaganda firm Cambridge Analytica, who partnered with Facebook to steal data on the most intimate personal habits of fifty million Americans for Trump and the Republican Party.
Sitting in a hotel bar, Alexander Nix, who runs the political data firm Cambridge Analytica, had a few ideas for a prospective client looking for help in a foreign election. The firm could send an attractive woman to seduce a rival candidate and secretly videotape the encounter, Mr. Nix said, or send someone posing as a wealthy land developer to pass a bribe.
“We have a long history of working behind the scenes,” Mr. Nix said.
The prospective client, though, was actually a reporter from Channel 4 News in Britain, and the encounter was secretly filmed as part of a monthslong investigation into Cambridge Analytica, the data firm with ties to President Trump’s 2016 campaign.
The results of Channel 4’s work were broadcast in Britain on Monday, days after reports in The New York Times and The Observer of London that the firm had harvested the data from more than 50 million Facebook profiles in its bid to develop techniques for predicting the behavior of individual American voters.
The weekend’s reports about the data misuse have prompted calls from lawmakers in Britain and the United States for renewed scrutiny of Facebook, and at least two American state prosecutors have said they are looking into the misuse of data by Cambridge Analytica.

Well, look what the UK is doing WRT Cambridge Analytica – this ought to encourage those of us who want to see CA burn for what they did – though it’s not guaranteed, certainly.
I don’t think Putin needs any help setting up honey traps. He’s been doing it for decades.
But, using CA’s honey trap gives Russia a level of deniability.
Rachel did excellent research on the part re: of CA, and on the interview. The hole is very, very deep now, and sheet is gonna hit the fan.
I think we can borrow Joe Biden’s words when he congratulated Pres. Obama on the passage of ObamaCare (but I’ll clean it up a little)

The BBC news aired two or more clips of it yesterday, and one was very interesting indeed. In that clip Mr. Nix was bragging that he had met Mr. Drumpf personally, in fact had met him several times and had a good report with him. Nobody is mentioning it, and it is probably nothing more than Drumpfian lying and bragging to intimidate a potential customer, but I can hear poor Mueller sighing: “That’s one more thing we need to look into.” I expect subpoenas from Mueller’s team to CA’s CEOs to follow the other’s soon.
This story is of course very important in relationship to it being Crunch Time for Drumpf and his acolytes, but it may also be crunch time for Facebook, as you indirectly allude to in your title, TomCat. CA was able to harvest the personal data of more than 50 million Facebook users and target them through Facebook to influence their voting behavior, but possibly other behavior too – remember Steve Bannon was on the board of CA – and Facebook has known about it for two years before shutting CA down. Facebook is now made to answer for that – and hopefully for anything else they cooperated with CA on. Facebook stocks have now taken a dive on the stock market as people are ‘unfriending’ Facebook and investors an advertisers now think thy are at risk. Crunch Time!
