The more the investigative noose tightens around the Fuhrer’s neck, the more desperate he is becoming. As he finishes the process of replacing the relatively same members of his administration with rabid, goose-stepping sycophants, he becomes ever more likely to act in impulse, as he did last weekend. The Twit that grabs twats and tweets directed his Twitter barrage at Robert Mueller.
President Donald Trump made his most direct attack to date on the Justice Department’s investigation into Russian election meddling being led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, the latest sign that a showdown may be brewing over the probe.
“Why does the Mueller team have 13 hardened Democrats, some big Crooked Hillary supporters, and Zero Republicans,” Trump said early Sunday on Twitter. “Does anyone think this is fair?”In other tweets, the president questioned the integrity of former FBI Director James Comey and former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe. “Wow, watch Comey lie under oath,” Trump said. He also said that accounts kept by McCabe and Comey detailing their interactions with him were “Fake Memos.” McCabe, said Trump, “never took notes when he was with me.”
John Dowd, Trump’s personal lawyer, said on Saturday that Mueller’s investigation should be shut down after the late-Friday firing of McCabe by Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Trump’s response since then suggests he’s lost patience with the months-long investigation that’s cast a dark shadow over his presidency.
Trump’s lawyers, who’ve been negotiating terms for Mueller to interview the president, had assured their client for most of last year that the investigation would wrap up by the end of 2017, said a person familiar with the matter. Trump was talked out of firing Mueller back in June, but there are strong signals that the special counsel and his team of 17 prosecutors have at least several months more work ahead of them.
“The Mueller probe should never have been started in that there was no collusion and there was no crime,” Trump said Saturday, using Mueller’s name in a tweet for the first time. “It was based on fraudulent activities and a Fake Dossier paid for by Crooked Hillary and the DNC, and improperly used in FISA COURT for surveillance of my campaign. WITCH HUNT!”… [emphasis added]

Carl Bernstein from CNN is certain that Trump wants to shut the investigation down.
I agree with most of Bernstein’s observations, and think that the tweet storm may well have been testing the waters to determine how Republicans might react if Trump fires Mueller, but disagree with his conclusion. I think Lindsey Poo was just making noise and that not enough Republicans would actually do something about it to matter. The bottom line is this. Trump makes Republican politicians uncomfortable. But he has done more in just over a year to steal wealth from the poor and middle classes to finance billionaires, and to quash liberty to establish a permanent Republican Reich than Republicans could accomplish without him in thirty years. That’s all that matters to them. They won’t stop him.
RESIST THE REPUBLICAN REICH!!

I sure do hope and pray that the ‘rule of Law’ prevails. Please! If dt was innocent with all the crapola he’s done, and the goings on in the WH, why does he feel he needs to stop the investigation? One would think that he’d be happy and let the investigation continue, to prove his innocence? the potus is a fraud, thief, and a liar, I know, but I sure hope that Mr. Mueller will be granted to serve and investigate to the end. The citizens of this country deserve that, in the least.
Personally, I think there will be an uprising and many protests if dt tries to stop the investigation. He can run, but he can’t hide! imho.
The tRump regime is already a monumental dumpster fire. Firing Mueller will make it a rolling monumental dumpster fire because it will prove just how insanely paranoid the Orange Ogre is. Dictators and other tyrants are always paranoid AF.
Carl remembers that when Watergate happened, there were Republicans who were appalled, and therefore took action. And it is a remote possibility that it might happen again. Remote. Very remote. But the other thing that happened during Watergate was that, after the Saturday Night Massacre, the investigatory staff asked, “What do we do now?” ad the fired prosecutor said, in essence, “Keep doing what you are doing until someone kicks you out.” And no one ever did. So there’s that.
BTW, what in the world is a “hardened Democrat”? Has anyone ever seen one?
A hardened Democrat is one with an Anthony Weiner.
Former Reagan Advisor, Bruce Bartlett, has a pretty good handle on how Twitler is really coming apart at the seams.
The concern is whether Mueller et al can act to get rid of him before he gets us ALL killed.
From Daily Kos:

Why Watergate was a walk in the park compared to the Trump disaster–in 1974 there honorable Republicans in office who put country above party. Now there are none. Zero. Nada. Not a single patriot among all the Republicans in Congress. Just cowards and toadies.

Lindsey Graham is full of shit. Trump could fire Mueller and throw him into a Gitmo cell and Graham wouldn’t do a damned thing because he is a coward and a whore for the Republican cult just like every other member. It’s not a party anymore.

Flake would know. He votes 100% for every single Trump nominee & initiative. Flake whines and complains but DOESN’T DO SHIT. https://twitter.com/mkraju/status/975359601947369472 …

I don’t believe a single Republican member of Congress warning Trump against firing Mueller. They are all whores and cowards who will do nothing. And Trump knows it.

Now this is a Republican one might , I said MIGHT, be able to respect.
If 50 enough?
The fact that Nunes could close his (Republican) committee’s investigation with the conclusion that there wasn’t the any indication of Russian interference in the 2016 election, doesn’t leave much room for hope that the same Republicans would do something if Drumpf interferes with the Rule of Law and finds a way to fire Mueller and his team. Yes, some have indicated that Drumpf has crossed a red line with his twitter attacks last weekend, but Mitch McConnell for instance wouldn’t comment.
If Drumpf fires Mueller, and chances are he will, I hope Republicans realize they already have a large portion of people, who might not even be politically minded or active, against them because they fail to do anything about reasonable gun control. If they then let Drumpf get away with obstruction and demolition of the Rule of Law on top of that, they’ll tear the country apart and who knows where that will lead? A cycle of more and more violent demonstrations after the first peaceful demonstrations were squelched by ammosexuals and SWAT teams alike? Riots? Anything could happen when enough is enough.
Bernstein: “…this president lies and do we have any reason to believe that he is not lying about the Russia investigation … we have less reason to believe him than we do the witnesses, the journalists and the evidence we have seen so far.”
There is no reason, none at all, to believe that Drumpf and his cohorts did NOT collude with Russia. Why carry on with denials etc and threats to shut down the investigation if there is nothing to see? IMO, Drumpf is as guilty as sin itself!
Will he fire Mueller? He will try. I do not believe there is an honourable Republican in Congress who will stand up and will say “NO!”. When your primary values are power and greed, as is the case with Republicans, there is no way you will sink your ship even if the captain is a narcissistic megalomaniac.
I hope that Mueller will be able to press charges before that happens.
Thanks all. Hugs! See today’s Open Thread.
The Republicans are satisfied with Trump. He is doing their dirty work for them.
