From Washington Post: Andrew McCabe, the FBI’s deputy director who has been the target of Republican critics for more than a year, plans to retire in a few months when he becomes fully eligible for pension benefits, according to people familiar with the matter.
McCabe spent hours in Congress this past week, facing questions behind closed doors from members of three committees. Republicans said they were dissatisfied with his answers; Democrats called it a partisan hounding.
McCabe, 49, holds a unique position in the political firestorm surrounding the FBI . He was former director James B. Comey’s right-hand man, a position that involved him in most of the FBI’s actions that vex President Trump and in the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while secretary of state, a matter that still riles Democrats.
McCabe won’t become eligible for his full pension until early March. People close to him say he plans to retire as soon as he hits that mark. “He’s got about 90 days, and some of that will be holiday time. He can make it,’’ one said.
He has done an excellent job. If the Republican Reich has any say in replacing him, the FBI will suffer for it. RESIST!!
From CBS News: Police on Saturday investigated a suspicious package addressed to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, CBS Los Angeles reports. The package was found on Bel Air Road, near Mnuchin’s home, in Los Angeles.
The package was gift-wrapped and filled with manure, police say, CBS Los Angeles’ Cristy Fajardo reports.
The package was found at a neighbor’s home but was addressed to Mnuchin, which police say raised alarm bells.
LAPD officers, the bomb squad and the Secret Service poured into the area.
A neighbor, Prince Frederick von Anhalt, said he and others who live above the home were trapped for about two hours, until police found out it was filled with manure and cleared the scene.

WP: Just read that Mr. DUMPty has been negatively tweeting about Mr. McCabe while (or after) golfing. I wish him well in his retirement, take as much holiday time as you can! I sure wouldn’t want to be working for this mess of a potus, that’s for sure!!

WP: McCabe has done a fantastic job and I don’t envy him his last 90 days on that job. Knowing that there will be an end to it in 3 months time must be what gives him the strength to hold on to it.
Kudos to you, Mr. McCabe.
And Mueller and all the other committees know what their deadline is too. They have to finish up before McCabe is replaced because if Drumpf still is in the White House we all know exactly what will happen: the next Director will have the mission to gut it and turn it into an extension of the GOP, focusing on minorities, the left, immigrants and the ‘terrorist evil all inherently harbor’. Directors like Comey and McCabe kept the FBI bi-partisan or rather independent, any new director under this Congress/administration will be a GOP minion.
CBS: May all Mnuchin’s packages be filled with the droppings of every animal known to man. I don’t think Prince Frederick will be likely to accept any packages for Mnuchin from now on, so may they all be delivered right on Mnuchin’s doorstep for his personal enjoyment.

The package that landed on the neighbor’s porch should have been sent to the WHOLE repukkklican party, c/o Donald J. DRUMPF! He is the reason that we are in the mess that the whole world is in NOW! As I was driving home last night about 2200 hours after a wonderful Christmas dinner, a sub lieutenant at NORAD said that Santa was just crossing into BC from Alberta. But the most important part of his message was that Santa really liked all the cookies and milk so far. But the official reminded kids to make sure there were still lots and lots of cookies for Santa. Santa surely is a diabetic by now!

WaPo — It would not surprise me to see Drumpf fire McCabe now, just short of his announced retirement. Of course that would bring on a monumental lawsuit I am sure. I certainly do hope that his testimony was enough to put a nail in Drumpfs coffin!
