Here is the one hundred third article in our Republicans on Parade series, featuring individuals who personify what the Republican Party has become. Today’s honoree is Republican future head of the Census Bureau, Thomas Brunell. He is so honored for his intent to establish a permanent, totalitarian Republican Reich by using the census to help abolish competitive elections.
The Trump administration is leaning toward naming Thomas Brunell, a Texas professor with no government experience, to the top operational job at the U.S. Census Bureau, according to two people who have been briefed on the bureau’s plans.
Brunell, a political science professor, has testified more than half a dozen times on behalf of Republican efforts to redraw congressional districts, and is the author of a 2008 book titled “Redistricting and Representation: Why Competitive Elections Are Bad for America.”
The choice would mark the administration’s first major effort to shape the 2020 census, the nationwide count that determines which states lose and gain electoral votes and seats in the House of Representatives.
The fate of the census under President Donald Trump has been closely watched by voting-rights advocates worried that the administration — which has already made unsupported claims about voter fraud — might nudge it in directions that over- or undercount some Americans. If anything, Politico downplays the significance of Trump’s intent to appoint Brunell, and does not even mention the sleazy way he is doing it. Fortunately, Rachel Maddow has done the homework for all of us, as she puts this in context with Republican Gerrymandering.
There’s no way we can keep Trump from appointing this vile parade recipient but we can use exposing a,d protesting everything he does to help generate a wave election in state governments nationwide in 2018.

Thank you for picking up this story from my Census Update and making it a Parade. It truly deserves it – and I wouldn’t be covering it further.
This may be a good time to point out that I’ll be away from home from early Friday morning through much of Sunday afternoon. I will have my laptop with me, and am hoping to get an Erinyes up, but if I don’t (and if I am late in commenting and/or don’t comment at all starting Friday), it’s probably laptop issues.
Truth be told, I had already done the research, before I realized you had already commented about the census update, but that one can’t get too much exposure.
Truth be told, I wrote my comment before I saw your “same ditch” comment, but that didn’t affect my gratitude, so I left it as is

Somebody has been whispering in Drumpf’s ear and this time he has taken the advise. He’s not appointing a new director for the Census Bureau, because under scrutiny of Congress it would be all too clear why Brunell, who wouldn’t know a Mean from a Median is pushed into this job and the reasons would be proclaimed uncomfortably during a vetting hearing. No, Drumpf is planning on appointing Brunell as Chief of operations, without ant interference from Congress.
Not that the GOP majority wouldn’t let Drumpf appoint this man to Director even though there’s nothing in his resume to warrant that except for his proclivity for gerrymandering – they’ve approved appointments of people even more unsuited for the job – but it would be a tad embarrassing if Democrats were to demonstrate how the Republicans won the last elections and why and how they need Brunell to make sure they stay in power.
Yes, someone had Drumpf’s ear and this time he was paying attention. It makes it also very clear why the GOP is not going to impeach him any time soon. There are still a few points on their agenda they need him to fix. And making sure that they stay in power by turning America in something worse than a banana republic has high priority right now.

I read somewhere on FB that tRump was being groomed by the Ruskies back as early as the early 80’s! Is that true? Could that be true? He was in to the pageants back then, wasn’t he? It was supposed to be when the pageant was over in Russia and right before that Putin starting to loan him money and other ways to get tRump to “owe favors” to Putin. Just going back to his history with the country is something that Mueller needs to be concentrating on. I’m sure he has ALL the info he needs on tRump and his spawn! I know it’s gonna take a while, BUT DAMN, I wish it was closer to the end of this crap! I can’t stand watching our country being taken down by this ass clown!!!

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if “Redistricting and Representation” has enough bull**** in it to make all of Death Valley bloom like the Atlanta Botanical Gardens – for at least a decade.
