Here is the ninety-eighth article in our Republicans on Parade series, featuring individuals who personify what the Republican Party has become. Today’s honoree is Republican Senator John Thune [R-SD]. He is so honored for blaming the victims for their mass murder by an older, white, Ammosexual multi-millionaire.
Sen. John Thune (R-SD) on Tuesday responded to calls for increased gun control after the massacre in Las Vegas by telling reporters that shooting victims had a responsibility to protect themselves from gunfire.
“It sounds like [the shooter] used conversion kits and other things, you know, to make the weapons more lethal,” Thune reportedly told MSNBC’s Hallie Jackson…
…But Thune shied away from the topic of gun control, arguing, “[I]t’s an open society and it’s hard to prevent anything.”
Instead, the Republican senator offered advice to potential victims.
“I think people are going to have to take steps in their own lives to take precautions,” he opined. “To protect themselves."… [emphasis added]

Had the shooter been Muslim, Thune would propose banning Muslim refugees. Had the shooter been Latino, Thune would propose building the Republican wall and telling border guards to shoot to kill. Had the shooter been Black, Thune would have proposed militarizing police even more and maintaining the absence consequences for police killing innocent Blacks. These are the standard Republican solutions. What a hypocrite Thune is! That’s why he deserves his parade!
RESIST THE REPUBLICAN REICH!!

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
This guy is in the news today, and so is Tim Murphy, a flaming anti-choice Republican, who encouraged his mistress to get an abortion (of what turned out to be a false pregnancy, lucky for him.) There’s not a lick of difference between them, except that the abortion hypocrisy is so much more common, it makes Thune stand out from the crowd.
Murphy needs a saguaro enema!
THUNE (from the AlterNet Link):
Apparently Thune thinks we should all be part armadillos …
Priceless on your part my friend! But I wonder, how well would the armadillo’s armour stand up to enhanced ammunition and rifle?
BTW, the credit for the armadillo picture says lolgif.ru. Have you been getting your pictures from the Drumpf team, and they from Russia?
Nyet!
Dang! Lunch that packs itself!
I’ve never tried armadillo – but no doubt “It tastes like chicken”.
Gawd, they are all awful! Just read about Murphy, the creep!! U.G.H.!!
Bunch of creepy asses! This is just what one can expect from those who creep out of the cess pool that is the GOP, for their moment of fame.
What an idiot!
Let’s parade him TWICE! Or continually! What a twatwaffle! They don’t think EVER before they speak!!! They don’t have the least bit of feelings for other people!
Another “hit” on the repugnuts parade of stupidity!
Thanks so MUCH, TC!
What a jackass!!! Did Thune give the same advice to Steve Scalise and then blame Scalise for his own shooting?
Today or yesterday McTurtle said that now is not the time to be discussing gun control while people are still in shock. Have some respect for the victims he said. I say, if not now, when? Republicans are gutless because if they start entertaining gun control legislation, they’ll lose their rabid base and their power.
In an Alternet piece, country music
I hope there is a growing tide in the country that feels the same way. Of course, as McTurtle said, they will not discuss the issue that is resulting in more deaths on American soil by domestic terrorists than by any foreign terrorists.
BTW, there is a new petition on Care2 regarding gun control: https://www.thepetitionsite.com/287/336/316/urge-country-music-stars-to-stand-with-caleb-keeter-for-common-sense-gun-reforms/
Kudos to Keeter!
I have no jaw left to drop on my desk, it’s shattered to bits by the stuff that has been coming out of different GOP orifices since the Las Vegas massacre. But if I had a jaw left it surely have been made its last drop because of John Thune’s idiocy. People attending a folk music festival (what could be more innocent and peaceful?) shot from a window on the 32nd floor with automatic weapons should have taken precautions? I can’t believe Thune has said that even when I’m typing it. And he doesn’t mean bullet proof vests and helmets either, does he. Thune means with arming themselves with guns.
I’m out of comments on mass shootings, I just keep repeating myself so I translated a column from my Dutch newspaper and published it as an ‘As Seen From Afar’ to show how other non-Americans think about the American gun issue.
Thank you!
Thanks all! Republicosis hugs!
