Media meltdowns are a common enough occurrence in normal times, but the foreign assault on and subsequent occupation of the White House by Resident Donald Trump [R-RU], aka Putin’s Piddle Puppet, ensure that these are not normal times. Consider this:
2. Fox News eggs on white vigilantes threatening to ‘shoot looters’ in Houston.
Fox News’ business model is predicated on driving to the one-yard line of white supremacy, then acting shocked when it’s accused of trying to score a touchdown. Fox’s institutional flirtation with white nationalist tropes has gotten more overt with the rise of Trump, a fact that was on full display in one particularly gross segment in which a Fox News anchor laughed at the thought of a few vigilante rednecks going around shooting “looters.”

Who are these looters? Presumably the two gun-wielding white guys will drive around making this determination and blowing people away based on their own ad hoc judgments of guilt. All just another good laugh on the set of Fox News.
From <Alternet>
If Republicans follow their GOP SOP, they will make the determination of whether or not to shoot based on skin color.
Thus is just the second of six media meltdowns from last week alone. Click through for the other five. Then…
RESIST THE REPUBLICAN REICH!!

#2 As long as I can remember, as many disasters as I can remember, any black people seen in any public places were called “looters,” assumed to be picking u expensive junk to sell. Any white people seen in the same places were “scavenging” to “feed their families.” Baaaaaaarf!!!!
#1 I don’t know anything about. #3 just proves Alex Jones is an opportunist – and probably more than usually pissed right now because a 9-year-old white “thug woman” took down his minion. #4 Anyone who didn’t already know that Jeff Sessions gets his talking points from Breitbart and Fox had better check his or her pulse. #5 SMH. #6 Oh, the Post. Well, yes, of course they did. American lives are so much farther up the hierarchy than North Korean lives!
It looks like AlterNet is tring to find something that is small enough to handle to replace its “5 Dumbest Trump-isms” and “5 Dumbest things Republicans Said,” which have long since gotten exponentially out of hand. I agree something is needed, or at lease wanted. IMHO, this isn’t it.
Unbelievable the amount of racism that goes on in a time where survival is the ONLY thing on anyone’s mind! My son is in the GA guard and was sent to middle of that crap! I’m not happy about that and I wish he wasn’t. BUT, people need to STOP listening to Drumpf and start being HUMAN BEINGS!
Hugs to you and prayers for your son.
Thanks, Joanne! Found out he is in Atlanta, so much less worried.
Woooo Hoooo!!
Wouldn’t that be nice!?
It SURE would, Mitch! But just as soon as the hurricanes are over, expect Florida to return to original bright red state!
But. I hope there is minimal damage and NO loss of lives!
Thinking of Florida and Georgia!
WE, and neighbors who have been here over 20 years, have dealt with fires and floods, and yet…no looting by person(s) in our area. Even those folks who live by the river, weren’t. It is a sense of being a good neighbor, and helping one another, and donating where one can, to render. Houston must be one rough area, I go there occasionally to visit a niece. What a crying shame.!!
#6. Oh, Lordy! How extremely rude and crude !!!
NY Post: I saw a fellow hunkered done over what appeared to be the Post, this morning, at a bagel shop. The page he was reading had a blaring heading about “The Worst Human Scum!,” or something much like that. If that was the Post, it’s not even trying to do something vaguely like news reporting, it’s just being scum in print!
I saw the Meltdowns on e-mail, earlier.
I’m sure you weren’t expecting anything different from a reader of the Murdoch rag NY Post.
It’s sole goal is to buttress Twitler.
Yes, and we can credit Murdoch with the election of the Empty Orange, by way of his unspoken support of him,and his hate, through Faux news! Apparently, the wonderfully departed Roger Ailles kept Murdoch from coming out in support of Obama, in ’08, saying that it would not be good for business.
Faux Noise, New York Post, Breitfart, and Info Wars . . . the intelligentsia of the right wing nut jobs? OMG! You do have problems when this is the stuff of so many Americans.
I spoke to a total stranger named Ian in the parking lot of 7Eleven this afternoon. It was a fantastic conversation (started by me when I asked about his VW bug) that covered a lot of ground. Of course we got off to US politics . . . he’s a Bernie guy . . . of which he is quite knowledgeable. At that point we got into news and “fake news”, and well these publications define fake news! He even brought up Bill Maher’s last show when we spoke about climate change and Hurricane Irma. I wish there were more people like Ian.
Resist, Persist and Remove!!!
Send him south. We’ll trade Cruz!
You can keep that pathetic POS! Ian is ours!!!
Can’t blame a kitty for trying!
#1: Looks like all the other equally pointless and pointless and badly executed media product pushers couldn’t stand another one wanting a piece of the pie, not even when it’s backed by Hillary Clinton
#2: Wouldn’t have expected anything else from Faux News; this isn’t a meltdown but regular, i.e. white supremacist, reporting. Remember it’s their duty to keep Drumpf happy, otherwise he’ll start another war somewhere and forget all about Harvey/Irma victims.
#3: Poor Alex Jones. In his old age he can only retain a small number of topics to rail against and Drumpf has added so many to the list he’s now forced to make choices: it’s either FEMA or DACA. And DACA has won (for now).
#4: So sock puppet Jeff Sessions has a new hand up his backside: Bannon’s in stead of Drumpf’s. Got to hand it to Bannon: he warned that he would continue the fight on the outside, and he is. It doesn’t make much difference, does it. Faux News and Breitbart have always been Bannon outlets.
#5: The Washington Post has lost its way sometime ago too; why keep Ed Rogers on the payroll and let him publish these self-serving Op-eds full of alternative facts but have him undermine himself with the disclosure that he’s a lobbyist for Exxon? What’s next; are they going to make Ed do his own fact-checking too?
#6:
Thanks all. Hugs!
