It’s a very unusual Sunday, because normally, Wendy would be finishing up, and I’d be a perfumed Puddy Tat. I expect she will leave her country music festival in Southern Oregon late this afternoon, and will not be coming, until after she finishes work tomorrow. Therefore, I’m issuing an Air Quality Alert for a 500 mile radius. We’re moving into another heat wave, and it was so muggy last night that I slept very poorly.

From Newsweek: President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump announced Saturday morning that they would not be attending the Kennedy Center Honors celebrations scheduled for this December. The ceremonial weekend, due to include a State Department dinner and gala, honors performing arts figures that have changed American culture. Typically, the people being honored sit next to the president and first lady, according to Rolling Stone.
Not this year.
"The President and First Lady have decided not to participate in this year’s activities to allow the honorees to celebrate without any political distraction," White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a news release. "First Lady Melania Trump, along with her husband President Donald J. Trump, extend their sincerest congratulations and well wishes to all of this year’s award recipients for their many accomplishments."
If I was being honored, and he were attending, I would boycott. So would most artists, and the Fuhrer is too cowardly to face the rejection. RESIST!!

There is only one problem — Arnie says Drumpf has a moral responsibility as pResident. But Drumpf has no moral compass and knows nothing of moral responsibility.

I watched it as a kid on TV and vividly remember the eclipse scene that saved Crosby’s life. Enjoyed it so much I even got the book by Mark Twain from the library and enjoyed it, too.
I never saw the movie, but I did read the book.
Ditto TC, at least on that movie. But I did see a different version with Whoopi Goldberg – and of course the Rodgers and Hart musical has many fine songs: “Thou Swell,” “My Heart Stood Still,” and new for an early revival, “To Keep My Love Alive.”

I watched it all and it was most enjoyable and fascinating. There was one part where the entire crowd, in one of the towns, was watching it and they all disappeared when the eclipse was total, completely dark. It was an awesome morning for me.
Here in Sonoma, it was a very overcast morning and I did noticed a bit of darkness during the eclipse. Otherwise, the live broadcast was well worth watching and I did not have to have the special eclipse watching glasses. lol.

I knew that “Quick, Henry, the Flit!” was a cartoon, but I didn’t realize it was a whole series of cartoons, a big campaign by Dr. Seuss, before he became famous. He was a real anti-Fascist (and apparently a genuinely good person) so I think this one will be the most appropriate with your comment:
