As the noose slowly tightens around the neck of Resident Donald Trump, Fuhrer of the Republican Rectum Reich, it is apparent that he is on the verge of desperate measures. Sad as it it, it appears that there is nothing so sleazy and devious that Trump’s minions won’t pursue it in defense of Republican fascism.
Some of President Trump’s lawyers are exploring ways to limit or undercut special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s Russia investigation, building a case against what they allege are his conflicts of interest and discussing the president’s authority to grant pardons, according to people familiar with the effort.
Trump has asked his advisers about his power to pardon aides, family members and even himself in connection with the probe, according to one of those people. A second person said Trump’s lawyers have been discussing the president’s pardoning powers among themselves…
…With the Russia investigation continuing to widen, Trump’s lawyers are working to corral the probe and question the propriety of the special counsel’s work. They are actively compiling a list of Mueller’s alleged potential conflicts of interest, which they say could serve as a way to stymie his work, according to several of Trump’s legal advisers…
From <Washington Post>
There are few people capable of dissecting such issues as these as Rachel Maddow. Here, she talks with Ashley Parker, one of the authors of the Post article.
I did a little research myself and could not find any actual proof that the Fuhrer could not pardon himself, but there are limitations. First, he would have to do so at the point of resignation, because he could not pardon himself for future offenses. So, if he can pardon himself and stay in office, he will commit more crimes virtually immediately. Second, if he could pardon himself, he can do so for federal crimes only. Therefore it is imperative that State AGs prepare criminal indictments against him for financial felonies committed within their borders.
About Mueller, we need to keep an eye on the fate of Jefferson "KKK Beauregard" Sessions. If Trump cans him, I think it will indicate that he’s about to go after Mueller.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
If he (dt) pardons anyone or himself… isn’t that showing they are guilty of collusion of the Russian involvement? I can’t believe the low level that dt is going for, after Muelller to discredit him. Geez….what an A- – Hat!! Does he (dt) even know the meaning of the word, DISHONORABLE!?? My Gawd, what a shitfest!
Yup. Eric Schneiderman, New York, is working on this and I believe has hired Preet Bharara. Xavier Becerra, Calfornia, is working on something in connection with this. Support your local AG (if he or she is a Democrat.) I don’t know where all Trump has properties, but there must ne a bunch.
What interests me primarily at this moment is, if Mueller gets fired, what will happen to his evidence. I would bet the Attorneys General also have some of it – may even have contributed to Mueller’s investigation. If Trump fires Mueller, I would hope Schneiderman would hire him. I don’t know whether he would have enough money, but I still feel it’s a good idea.
Very ironic that Mueller’s fate may be tied to that of Jeff Sessions. Very ironic.
His attempts to determine if he can pardon himself are an admission of guilt as far as I am concerned.
Can Twitler pardon himself? Maybe …

But I like this response from the last Link:
Prof. Samuel Gross, U. of Michigan:
AMEN!!!
Lock him up!!!
An interesting tale that pardoning himself or others to interfere with the investigation is a criminal act in itself: Obstruction of Justice.
No, Pat, “dishonorable” does not exist in his universe! There is no level too deep for him to stoop to. If his pardoning people indicates guilt, he won’t care, because that guilt will never have been proven and he will refer to it as just “Your” opinion! We have not just “fallen under trump,” we are falling! And,if you know your physics, the speed of falling accelerates, hugely.
Like any serious narcissist, he will play any card he can with no regard to the consequences to anyone, or anything else, including the country he said he’d make great! And he is up there among the most serious narcissists, with his favorite author, “Mein Kampf Adolph.”
I couldn’t agree with you more, Pat!
With Drumpf having his attorneys dig up supposed conflicts of interest to discredit Muëller, he demonstrates just how afraid he is of what Muëller may uncover. Getting his knickers in a twist as Muëller goes after his tax returns to establish patterns etc (I don’t think Muëller would disclose the information to the press or others) indicates to me that he has something to hide, something perhaps illegal or at the very least, corrupt.
Drumpf is asking about pardons, but to pardon a relative such as Don Jr, Ivanka or Jared Kushner, or even himself, is a gross conflict of interest in my opinion. Very hypocritical IMO when he is trying to nail Muëller for conflicts of interest. But then, what else would we expect from a Republican, let alone a fascist dictator?
Resist and Persist!!!
Lock him up!!!
Is there anything of a foot left for Drumpf to shoot himself in? If he’s showing “interest” in his own powers to pardon his family and team members as well as himself, he might just as well put up a sign on the door of the Oval Office saying “Yes, I colluded with the Russians”. And having the few lawyers that are willing to work for him trying to undermine Mueller’s investigation with the intend of firing him, at the moment Mueller starts delving into Drumpf’s financial background, going back at least 10 years, to look for more clues there, Drumpf may just as well add a sign saying “and I’ve been in Putin’s pocket for years”.
It can’t be a coincidence that Mark Corallo, a spokesman for President Trump’s outside legal team, has resigned at this very point in time:
Mike Luckovich works for a syndicate, and I assume they are jealous over copyright, so I won’t post the picture, but only this link.
(Note how long ago Mike had him figured out.)
Thanks for posting the link, Joanne. I’d never seen this one, or any of Luckovich’s cartoons I think, but we’re obviously of the same mind.
Oh, yeah. Luckovich and David Horsey are two of my favorites. I don’t really have the time to keep up with either as much as I’d like, though.
Thanks all. Hot humid hugs!
