I spent a lot of this morning getting prescriptions squared away and trying to deal with a potential conflict. I think Allison’s semi-annual eye evaluation for cancer would put too much stress on my eye too soon after Christine does the cataract surgery. And I’m trying to schedule the cataract surgery for the other eye. I missed my morning rest and feel tired.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 3:21 (average 6:12). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From YouTube (Unlisted MoveOn Video): The Resistance is Local
If I had a nickel for every time I’ve said this to people who are voting for pseudo-progressive spoilers with Republican funding and support, like Ralph Nader and Jill Stein, who also colluded with Russia, we could all retire on the proceeds. The time and place for progressive revolution to begin is years before an election at home, not in a national election for President with a no-win candidate. RESIST!!
From Daily Kos: The video above [below], Chris Uhlmann reporting for Australia’s ABC on Donald Trump & the G20. There is little I can add to this.
I could not have said it better. AMEN! RESIST!!
From NY Times: After the nation’s worst mass shootings, in Newtown, Conn.; Aurora, Colo.; Orlando, Fla.; and Columbine High School in Colorado, gun control advocates rose to demand more rigorous laws: stricter background checks, limits on magazine capacities, bans on assault weapons and tougher controls on gun shows and online firearms markets — almost always to no avail.
But in the weeks after the June 14 shooting of Republicans at a congressional baseball practice, the response has had a twist: Conservative lawmakers, some of whom were nearly the victims of gun violence, have pressed to loosen gun controls.
Three bills introduced in the Republican-held House during the past two weeks would allow lawmakers to almost always carry a concealed weapon. A fourth would allow concealed carry permits obtained in other states to be recognized in the District of Columbia. Still another would eliminate federal controls on silencers.
What Ammosexual InsaniTEA! People too incompetent to legislate (Congressional Republicans) are too incompetent to carry concealed weapons. In Texas, legal residence, 18 years of age, and no felony convictions are the only requirements for a concealed carry permit. Do we really want Washington DC flooded with Texan wing-nuts with hidden guns? And how is giving an Ammosexual assassin a silencer going to make us safer? RESIST!!

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
5:54 This one’s always been a – er, challenge.
TC asked me to follow up on this important issue (which so few realize is important). The Coalition on Human Needs is sponsoring a Webinar on Tuesday, July 18 2017 at 2 pm ET (1 pm CT, 12 noon MT, 11 am ET) It is expected to be 1 hour long, and is free. To register, go here. Actually, just go there anyway – you don’t automatically register by clicking, and there is a bunch of What and Why info there. Also, this article is pertinent:
NYT on the “Klan Rally” And more Daily Kos
Last day to submit a comment on National Monuments:
Birthday Card for President Obama: http://go.traindemocrats.org/page/s/hbd-obama-17
I have an eye appointment of my own. I’ll return and fill in after it’s over, but I wanted to get the links up (especially the one with a deadline).
OK, I’m back.
MoveOn – Oh, man, no kidding. I’ll bet if we had all those nickels, however, that rather than retiring, we’d be putting it into local candidates.
DKos – This is just absolutely wonderful. Thanks for picking it up! And Daily Kos is the one with the complete transcript, I believe.
NYT – Saw this headline, and couldn’t bear to read the details. Because I could see it so clearly. The “Party of Personal Responsibility” (NOT!) thinks that, because they are personallt responsible for every penny and every minute of their success (NOT!),if they only had guns, they could be superheroes and solve everything. The only slight potential good I can see coming from this is humiliation when they try and fail miserably, and the collateral damage from that would be so high, I can’t support it.
Cartoon – Yup. I keep saying that to your cartoons. They must be all right on the money.
I have something else to do on the eighteenth.
You do indeed. And we all hope it goes EXTREMELY well.
Thank you! So do I!
MO: Good video! Yes, get involved, (if you can), start little, and GO BIG!!!
DK: This was great!! Well saidI.LOVED.THIS!!! Sad, and Shameful how low we’re going, isn’t it?
NYT: This is scary! Yea, I don’t own a gun, (never have), but probably here in the ‘Lone’ Star state, they are probably woopin’ and hollerin’ with glee at this news. Almost everyone I know of in the hood here, has guns/or rifles. I don’t understand people sometimes for having one, really. Especially with the kids around. ugh!
Cartoon: Yep! *wiki: TASS or Информационное агентство России enjoys”exclusive right to gather and distribute information outside the Soviet Union, as well as the right to distribute foreign and domestic information within the Soviet Union, and manage the news agencies of the Soviet republics”.Add the US now to this too.
I wish you well in getting your appointments lined up for your eye. It is exhausting, isn’t it, being on the phone for setting things up. Hope that you get a chance to relax, and take good care. Thanks, Tom.
**Will do, Joanne, Thank you!
NOTE: Chris Uhlmann is a conservative pundit.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Uhlmann
The partisan aspect here is not really liberal vs. conservative, but sane vs. insane, or maybe pre-frontal cortex vs. lizard brain. Uhlmann appears to have a functioning pre-frontal cortex.
One of the Aussie ladies on Care2 commented that he is a very good reporter and to her experience, not biased. Everyone is biased in one way or another but apparently he calls them pretty close.
I have nothing against authentic conservatives. There’s nothing conservative about Republicans.
I was noting his leanings in a POSITIVE way.
YTube: Yes, very well said!
DK: “…no capacity.” For anything rational, reasonable, sensible!
NYT: These fools will use any excuse to feed the need of the NRA, that’s really all there is to it.
Well I let my laptop drain to 10% battery power but I still can’t get an internet connection so I guess it is off to the repair shop. Argh!!! I’m on my desk top which is a pain, but at least it works.
Puzzle — 3:56 Well it is clear that yesterday’s problems with the time had to do with the website. Everything is good today except my time. Good thing there are no birdies or dawgs with their lives on the line today.
YouTube — Good vid but how many people who need to see it, will see it. Short of making voting mandatory, which I personally think would be a good idea, getting people out is like going to the dentist for a tooth extraction. We have a similar problem here, although not as bad perhaps.
Daily Kos — Spot on! Has this Aussie got him pegged, or what! Where was the main stream US press? Hiding from Drumpf for fear he sues them?
NY Times — Would such regulations have made a difference when Scalise was shot? Not likely considering there were 2 police constables there who were part of a security team and wounded also. No doubt that the Republicans have sold themselves into slavery with the NRA, like puppets on a string! But they are complicit and IMO, can be linked to Scalise’s injury. Republicans move in the wrong direction on a brother’s attempted assassination, but the murder of 20 children in Newtown and scores of other civilians brings nothing to Republican lawmakers. Disgusting!!!
Cartoon — That’s where Faux Noise got the idea for its raison d’être!
Resist and Persist!!!
No doubt you’ve Googled it, but two quick Links that you may want to take a look at WRT your laptop:

MoveOne: Excellent video. Resistance starts at home; start voting for progressives.
DK: Kudos to Aussie Chris Uhlmann for saying out loud what everyone in the rest of the world is thinking. By giving a repeat performance of the G6 + 1 at the G19 +1, has made it very clear to all that Drumpf has no interest in leading his own country, let alone the rest of the world and that all his rhetoric on “those values he holds so dear”, and written into his speeches by others, is nothing more than that: empty words regurgitated by a self-obsessed, incompetent man whose only interests are making as much money out of hist time in office and getting as much “adoration” out of it as he can. Yes, the real Drumpf is a pathetic twitler, not the man that (badly) manages to read a carefully scripted speech now and again.
NYT: I couldn’t agree more with you, TomCat. This is both utterly ridiculous and frightfully dangerous, an invitation for disaster to happen. Imagine what will happen if a reporter is “too persistent” in asking questions about TrumpCare or when a Democratic Congressperson is too insistent on an answer, or when their great leader is ridiculed too much? Will ammosexuals feel the need to stand their ground? Although some of it would be just ridiculous. Are they going to wear their guns concealed while practicing a baseball game, in GOP uniforms, I take it? That would make for some interesting, very tweetable pictures. And for some very interesting areas to take a bullet from by the hospital staff. But it will the end of any friendly sports competition left between Republicans and Democrats.
I hope you got all the new appointment to do with your eyes sorted now, TomCat, and caught up on some sleep too.
Thanks all. Pooped Hugs!
