Yesterday my appointment was successful, but altogether grueling. They do make special replacement lenses that would give me vision at all distances, but Medicare does not cover them, and I can’t afford $2,700 to buy them myself. I selected a standard mid-range lens, suitable for most indoor activities. Then I can get a pair of sunglasses for long range outdoor use, seeing hazards to my chair at a distance, and a pair of reading glasses. TriMet Lift delivered me an hour early, I was seen right away, and it took far less time than anticipated. I was done at Noon. I called TriMet, but they were unable to move my ride up from the 2:00 to 2:30 window. They picked me up just after 2:30. On the way home, someone sideswiped another TriMet Lift Bus, and mine was diverted to rescue their passengers. I got to take an unwanted, but necessary, grand tour and finally returned home just after 5:00. Exhausted, I ate, went to bed, and slept well. We are now in the worst heat wave of the year so far, forecast at 92° today, 99° tomorrow, and 100° Sunday. I’m afraid that when Wendy comes Sunday to de-stink the TomCat, the TomCat may also have to de-stink Wendy!!

From NY Times: President Trump cleared up one of the capital’s least suspenseful mysteries on Thursday, acknowledging that he did not record conversations with James B. Comey, the F.B.I. director he fired in anger over an investigation into his campaign’s possible ties to Russia.
Meeting a self-imposed deadline of this week to resolve questions he himself raised by implying that he had taped Mr. Comey, Mr. Trump said on Twitter [Traitor delinked] that he had not made tapes of what Mr. Comey has testified were attempts by the president to derail the Justice Department’s investigation.
But if few people believed that Mr. Trump actually possessed recordings, his motives in warning Mr. Comey that he might have taped him remain a mystery, particularly since it set off a chain of events that accelerated, rather than slowed, the investigation into Mr. Trump and Russia.
Mr. Comey testified that it was Mr. Trump’s veiled threat of tapes that led him to authorize the disclosure of memos of his conversations with the president — the details of which prompted the Justice Department to appoint a special counsel to look into the case.
If Trump is now telling the truth, always a doubtful hypothesis, he committed Obstruction of Justice by using threats to temper with a witness. RESIST!!
From Raw Story: Life After Hate — a nonprofit group dedicated to de-radicalizing white nationalist and neo-Nazi extremists and combating the rise of right-wing extremism — is losing its funding under the Trump administration.
Politico’s Playbook Plus reported that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)’s $10 million grant program “Countering Violent Extremism” was stalled but is set to resume on Friday.
Life After Hate was supposed to receive a $400,000 grant in the last days of the Obama administration. That money was delayed as the program was reviewed and assessed.
“But,” Politico said, “the Trump administration dropped them from the new grant list that’s getting announced today.”
The group has had a “twenty-fold increase in calls for help” since Election Day from people trying to “disengage” from neo-Nazism and white supremacy as well as friends and family looking for help for someone they know.
It wouldn’t surprise me at all, if the Fuhrer and his Republican Reich gave the money to Stormfront instead. RESIST!!

NYT: Yesterday NBC reported “Trump Admits He Has No Tapes!” CNN reported “Trump States He Had No Tape!” The latter is the more accurate story: ANYTHING Trump says, admits to, denies, etc., is very highly, even “Bigly” a lie! I am sad that the major media do not relate to this very obvious truth.
Raw Story: Is that a surprise to anyone? He got where he is, and hopefully will come to regret it (ah, but I am off topic), by catering to hate, and hate groups, in part.

NYT – Of course he used the threat of tapes to tamper with a witness. While it’s nearly impossible to tell when he’s telling the truth (just as a stopped clock is right twice a day but it’s nearly impossible to tell when), I think it’s always been pretty evident to everyone, even including him and his staff, that the truth getting out in whole or even in part is their worst enemy.
Raw Story – If anyone needs help near Memphis (or even up to Mississippi, Georgia, and Texas), I know a recovered KKK-er who wants nothing more than to help others escape. Ain’t gonna be no money from Trump, that’s for sure.

Glad things went relatively well at your eye appointment. Had a similar situation happen in San Francisco back in 1976. A small car decided to play chicken with our street car as we were going downhill. Only difference, nobody sent alternate transportation to get us all. My friend and I had to walk to the hotel which was a small hotel on the edge of Chinatown. It was a long walk in an unknown city and we were very tired.

I already save my comments in an ASCII/ANSI format, then copy and paste to post. (If I weren’t already doing so, and were having your experiences, I sure would start!) I have PCs and use “Notepad,” which comes with the package. “Wordpad,” which has more formatting options, also comes with the package. I would think any word processing software would work as well. Whatever you would be most comfortable with.
Lynn, I use Firefox as a browser and one of the reasons I like the new text editor on this site is that when you go back to the previous page, or even one before that, the text you’ve entered is still there. That definitely wasn’t the case with previous editor, as I was unlucky to experience more than once. I don’t know if other browsers do the same for this editor, but it’s worth to have a little test by entering some text an then open something entirely different in the same tab and then press the top left arrow (go back a page, or previous page) and see what happens. If it works you may also get your text back after you’ve logged in and your page is “refreshed”.
RWW Channel: You know I’m not well versed on religious matters, but how many Anti-Christs are there? I thought Obama had already filled in that vacancy.
NYT: It doesn’t really matter if tapes actually exist, Drumpf threatened Comey with them and that’s Obstruction of Justice in itself. And as I’ve said before, of course there are no “tapes”, there would be recordings on hard disk at “best”, it was just a reference to the Nixon tapes, thinking that this would put pressure on Comey. Boy, how far into delusional dementia is a Resident of the White House allowed to slip before the nuclear code is changed and he no longer has access to it?
RS: There’s a twenty fold increase for help to ‘Life after Hate’ so it stands to reason that they cut the funding of this group, doesn’t it. It does if you are Drumpf, or rather Bannon, because those are core voters they may lose if ‘Life after Hate’ does its job. No, Drumpf/Bannon wants them to act out even more and recruit more people into their ranks. You might be right thinking the money went to Stormfront instead, TomCat. They need “troops” to fight and hurt as many of those protesters against Drumpf(care) possible.
