We have discussed many times that that the Reich on the Right, the Republican Reich, is virtually always wrong. On the other hand, the Reich on the Left, Robert Reich, is virtually always right. In this case, Robert is right that there is already sufficient evidence to impeach the Orange Obstructer for Obstruction of Justice.
Obstruction of justice was among the articles of impeachment drafted against both Presidents Nixon and Clinton. The parallel between Nixon and Trump is almost exact. White House tapes revealed Nixon giving instructions to pressure the acting FBI director into halting the Watergate investigation.
Two weeks after Trump told Comey privately “I need loyalty. I expect loyalty,” he had another private meeting with Comey in the Oval Office. After shooing out his advisers – all of whom had top security clearance – Trump said to Comey, according to Comey’s memo written shortly after the meeting, “I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go.”
Then on May 9, Trump fired Comey. In a subsequent interview with NBC Trump said he planned to fire Comey “regardless of [the] recommendation” of the Attorney and Deputy Attorney General, partly because of “this Russia thing.” Trump also revealed in the interview that he had had several conversations with Comey about the Russia investigation, and had asked Comey if he was under investigation…

I fully agree, with the caveat that things will have to get much, much worse, before House Republicans will act. Probably, Democrats will have to flip the House first, hopefully in 2018. Then they can impeach Pence at the same time.
RESIST!!

No question there is enough evidence to impeach. Indeed, one wonders – every day, every hour, they (the House, and particularly the Republicans in the House) wait, the more likely it becomes that such an inquiry will result in conviction – as more and more evidence becomes available. I would hope it is already too late for an acquittal, in fact. Why do “they” continue to delay? Could it be that they not only want him impeached but they want him convicted? Firmly? What a tightrope to be trying to walk while he is still in power!
Seems to me that there is more evidence of Obstruction of Justice, please say it’s gonna happen, and quickly.
To both above Comments:
That would be wonderful!
Not holding my breath … but that would be great!
I do not believe that the Rethugs are waiting for anything, but are using the time they can buy simply to further their agenda of screwing as many non-billionaires as possible; of overturning as much “Libral” legislation as possible, of divesting as many more people of their voting rights as possible.
I believe that there has been enough evidence for impeachment for quite some time now, as there was in the case of G.W. Bush, and Dickie Boy!
I agree with you, Mitch.
I believe Mitch is right, the Republicans will do nothing against Trump until they meet all their agendas for enriching themselves and their campaign contributors.
We all seem to agree that there is enough evidence for obstruction of justice. The burden of proof is higher in the law, but getting the Republicans to impeach one of their own is near impossible. As TC says, “…Democrats will have to flip the House first, hopefully in 2018. Then they can impeach Pence at the same time.” A Democrat’s wet dream, as TC might say.
Resist and Persist!!!!!
The main difference between starting the impeachment procedures against Nixon then and starting them now against Drumpf is that against Nixon there was actual evidence, Nixon himself ordering, on tape, others to put the pressure on In the Drumpf case, Drumpf was smart enough to order everyone else out of the room before he himself put pressure on Comey, making it his word against his. And for his “admittances” on camera: this time his street-wise layers will use Drumpf’s usual incoherency to have him say the opposite.
So in this case there is no clear and direct evidence, but altogether there is more than enough to give probable cause, which should be enough to start an impeachment investigation. As the Congressional committees already delving into the Russian thing seem to be very reluctant to dig any deeper under the chairmanships of Republicans, it’ll be next to impossible to get impeachment on its way until Democrats flip the house in 2018.
I really fear that is too long to wait for, and to be absolutely frank here: I’m not going to hold my breath for that to happen. In the mean time:
Thanks all. Hugs! In a rush!
