Here are the results of our “Trump Code-Word Intelligence” poll. Politics Plus Polls are not scientific, because those who respond are not balanced according to demographic categories. Therefore, we do not accurately reflect the makeup of the US population. Nevertheless, our polls are usually factually accurate, and more often than not, they reflect thinking of the majority of those who actually do think.
Since our polling site no longer enables us to copy and paste your poll comments, you may read them here.
I voted All of the above, because he does have the right to declassify material, to do it was completely incompetent, and giving it to Russia did betray America.
The new poll is up. After you vote…

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
His right to declassify is not as absolute as he thinks it is. For one thing, there are procedures which must be followed. For another, the particular bit of intelligence he gave away was not original with us and therefore not ours to give. But I suppose recent events have made this incident less major than it then seemed. Now it’s just more evidence.
Joanne,
Your Resist and Persist picture is beautiful. (A work of art) !!
AMEN!!!
Thanks, Tom for all your hard work!
Your disclaimer ends with the operative concept; “…think.” Sadly, too many people do not, and DeVos is working to see to it that future generations will not even know what the word means.
This is my comment and I still stand by it.
I don’t dispute that an American president may have the right to declassify intelligence, but I’m still convinced Drumpf didn’t actively exercise that right. He just blabbed the little he had picked up that morning, trying to impress the Russian delegation and create an old-boys atmosphere. Only later, when he was attacked for giving the Russians classified intelligence from an allied nation, did his staff come up with the excuse that he has the right to do so, and only because the couldn’t come up with any other excuse why he had thrown Israel’s Mossad under the bus. And they still haven’t.
But Joanne is absolutely right in stating “But I suppose recent events have made this incident less major than it then seemed. Now it’s just more evidence.” Yes, and also more evidence of his frightening level of incompetence and near complete divorce from reality.
I think we are arguing semantics. Technically, when the US Resident reveals information, it is instantly declassified under US law. That’s what I meant. What you guys are arguing is that Trump has no right to reveal another countries intelligence. Morally and ethically, you are absolutely correct, but not under US law. The law never envisioned Trump and needs to be changed.
