Being in pain is NOT fun. Rest may not even help much – it's tough to get to sleep when your in pain (voice of experience here) and the sleep isn't as restful anyway. All good wishes and healing prayers to you, of course!

Hope that you start feeling better. Glad that you called for assistance! Praying for you and hope for your recovery. My vacation was awesome, I'm so tired, but it's a good tired, ya know?
Hugs to all, take good, good care, BBL !!
Pulling muscles, or even breaking ribs due to strenuous coughing is terribly painful – I know from too recent experience – and there's only one thing for it and that is a cough inhibitor and a suitable painkiller, preferably with some anti-inflammatory effects. And then lots of rest for the muscle/rib to heal. I hope the Elder at Home call came quickly and you're fixed up with the right medication. If not try the a normal dose of your medication against the arthritis in your hands together with two paracetamol, or acetaminophen as I think it's called in the US. And if you're allowed to take them, of course. Just to tie you over and let you get some rest.
Hope you feel better soon, TomCat.

Resist and Persist!!!
Puddy Tat, I feel for you. As I said yesterday, it sounds like an intercostal muscle sprain which hurts like hell! Every little movement, every breathe sets off excruciating pain. Mine took 2-3 weeks to go away and lots of Tylenol. I also found that lying down to sleep was useless so I propped myself up with pillows so that my upper body was at about a 35-40 degree angle to my legs. That definitely helped take some of the coughing pressure off. You're in my thoughts and prayers! The furbabies say "hi" and get better soon!
Thanks all. Sick Hugs. I'm using Squatch's technique,
Rest and recuperate.
I was coughing like crazy a couple of weeks ago, but did not pull or injure anything.
