Every day, we get more and more evidence implicating Putin’s Puppet and his deplorable minions in criminal collusion with a foreign power.  Most recently, we learned that there were repeated contacts between senior members of the Trump campaign and Russian Intelligence Officers at the same time that Russian Intelligence was interfering with the US election to help Trump usurp the Residency.  But will we see justice?

Phone records and intercepted calls show that members of Donald J. Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and other Trump associates had repeated contacts with senior Russian intelligence officials in the year before the election, according to four current and former American officials.

American law enforcement and intelligence agencies intercepted the communications around the same time they were discovering evidence that Russia was trying to disrupt the presidential election by hacking into the Democratic National Committee, three of the officials said. The intelligence agencies then sought to learn whether the Trump campaign was colluding with the Russians on the hacking or other efforts to influence the election.

The officials interviewed in recent weeks said that, so far, they had seen no evidence of such cooperation.

But the intercepts alarmed American intelligence and law enforcement agencies, in part because of the amount of contact that was occurring while Mr. Trump was speaking glowingly about the Russian president, Vladimir V. Putin. At one point last summer, Mr. Trump said at a campaign event that he hoped Russian intelligence services had stolen Hillary Clinton’s emails and would make them public… [emphasis added]

From <NY Times>

Even as this news came in, Rachael Maddow was already wondering about justice for Republican crimes.  Here are three clips from her show.  In the first she delves into the litany of questions the Reich had generated, and how partisan loyalty (IOKIYAR) is interfering with investigations.

In the second, she relays the news she had just learned.

In the third, she interviews Adam Schiff, top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, about the possibility of getting an impartial investigation into the Fuhrer and his Russian Reich.

In short, the chances of that happening are between slim and nil.

Our best bet is to keep raising such a stink that it provokes a public outcry sufficient to make enough Republicans fear for their jobs to throw the Fuhrer under the bus.

RESIST!!

  1. Well, the most encouraging news to me today is this:  Intel Community to Trump: "Now we go nuclear. He will die in jail."

My thought on this – “Die in jail” sounds particularly sinister to me.  Here’s why:  felons under life sentences, or sentenced to death and executed, are held and executed in prisons, not jails.  For someone to die in jail, every prison would have to be so full that a lifer was being held in a jail in lieu of a prison temporarily (unlikely with such high-profile felons, and we are talking about the Federal system, not a State system, which makes that virtually impossible), or the felon would have to be in the jail temporarily to be close to a court for proceedings such as maybe an appeal, or conceivably held in a jail before conviction while awaiting trial.  Then, he would have to have an unexpected medical event which became fatal.  Of course that medical event might be spontaneous, or it might be induced.  It’s the last possibility that sounds so sinister.  Much of the general public does not distinguish between jails and prisons, but I would expect a senior member of the intelligence community to do so almost automatically.

I can think of all kinds of things which I would believe would happen before a Republican officeholder started acting like a patriot.  Yes, Mark Painter is starting to talk like one, but he is retired, and talk is cheap.

  2. Boy, I sure hope that they investigate throughly. We all know that he's been involved in talks w/Russia, and during his campaign.

He's guilty of shameful, and perfidious behavior, imho.

    Thanks, Tom.

  3. Time will tell what will happen.

As a reference, the Watergate "third-rate" burglary by the "Plumbers" happened June 17, 1972.

Nixon didn't resign until over two years later – August 9, 1974.

  4. A thorough investigation is BIGLY needed!!  Congressman Adm Schiff, D=-Ca. can be contacted and urged to leave no stone unturned!!!!!!!

  5. There must be an independent investigation of Drumpfenfarten, Flynn, the Russians, Comey (?) and any others that come up in the course of the investigation.  Sessions cannot be involved.

Drumpfenfarten and his cabal of cretins should be sent on long vacations (like permanent) to federal prisons, but never club fed!

    Resist!!!

  6. Again, almost a day behind, I can only say that I've learned nothing major here. And before you all get upset: that is not because TomCat hasn't done a terrific job on this article and gave a great analysis of the current situation, because he has!! It's because I've heard it all last night on Dutch and British news and news shows, in detail. Even the link to Sessions not excusing himself from any investigation and refusing to step aside even though he was advisor to Drumpf during his campaign and could be investigating himself(?).

All the news talk shows start with Drumpf and the absolute shambles the US Administration is in (including the absolute disregard for national security they showed at his diner with Abe and paying guests at his golf course) and the discussions bring in new facts as soon as the news breaks in America. And analysts here aren't fooled for one minute by the Republicans in Congress and the position they take in this; they seriously question their reluctance to investigate,  besides that Drumpf is a "Republican", and wonder what they are afraid of. Is it that the investigation will shows that the Russians are fed with a lot more "inside" information than they had ever imagined or is it that their own role/knowledge of it becomes exposed?

The whole world is watching this travesty and you can be sure that all those big statements Drumpf and his minions are making about clinching big deals (Israel-Palestinians) or having NATO partners pay up is met with derision.

And Drumpf obviously thinks that bullying will be the answer. The New York Times just posted: "President Trump may ask Stephen A. Feinberg, a billionaire investor and a member of his economic advisory council, to lead an assessment of spy operations. The possibility has top intelligence officials on edge and fearing that a review by a Trump ally with no intelligence experience would stifle their independence.

    Time to RESIST

  7. Guantanamo Bay detention camp as a "Federal Prison" would be an ideal place for Drumpf, Flynn, Bannon, Comey, Spicer, Conway and all the rest of other lackeys of the Drumpf administration. Temperature is warm and balmy with an ocean view and breeze. Can we do it…? lol.

  8. Thanks all!  Pooped hugs!
