Every day I express my gratitude in prayer to God that the earth has survived another day in which very small hands have access to the nuclear football. Unfortunately the Potomac Polluter has been making some crude decisions, so crude, in fact, that they make it clear that the Fuhrer has more than one way to destroy the world.
It took President Obama most of two terms to decide to reject the Keystone XL oil pipeline. His administration wrestled openly for months before concluding that it would look for alternative routes for the Dakota Access pipeline.
President Trump needed just five days in office to begin trying to reverse both decisions.
When Obama announced in November 2015 that he was rejecting Keystone XL, which would have transported oil from Canada’s tar sands to an existing pipeline in the United States, international meetings that would lead to the historic Paris climate accord were just weeks away. The former president made clear that he was concerned about his environmental legacy and the world’s future.
"America is now a global leader when it comes to taking serious action to fight climate change," Obama said at the time. "And, frankly, approving this project would have undercut that global leadership."
When Trump announced his executive actions on Tuesday to try to revive the Keystone XL pipeline, which would extend from northern Alberta to Nebraska, as well as the Dakota Access pipeline, which would run through North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa and Illinois, there was no talk of climate change or global environmental leadership.
Among his motives, he told reporters: “a lot of jobs.”… [emphasis added]
From <LA Times>
By "a lot" Pumpkin Pinocchio means 35 permanent jobs for Keystone XL and a lesser number for DAPL. In addition, Trump is invested in both pipelines, and since Transamerica is a Canadian company, his action criminally violated the emoluments clause in the Constitution.
If that isn’t bad enough, the Republican War on Mother Earth is far, far worse, as Rachel Maddow explains.
Soon it will be law that Federal employees, who disagree on any point with the Republican Reich will be required to click their heels, extend their arms, and shout Sieg Heil!
RESIST!!

Oh my, I guess I should have read this first. I posted a whole slough of links in the Open Thread. Oh well, it's only one page back.
Ominous events happening to our environment, and to our Nation.
"Danger, Will Robinson, Danger!!"
RM is so spot on!
Thanks, Tom.
Oh, DAMN! Can't we go thru a day that Drumpfenfarten doesn't sign some executive order that endangers the EARTH!!! S#!@!!! I am sick to death of his highhanded ways of doing things!!! He hasn't even been in office a week and he has overturned so many laws that it will take right years of a democratic president to just get started on making amends to Mother Earth! And we may not be able to make it right with her, EVER!!!
Depression is setting in just thinking about it. Take care TC!
Vivian, move from depression to anger, it's healthier, and more fun!
The man is a POS. Perhaps the law suit filed on Monday will cover th links to Canadian connections, in regard to the "Emoluments" clause.
But, It might help everyone's mental health to NOT expect Empty Orange to do anything reasonable. Lowered, to the floor, in this case, expectations help with resilience, and we need RESITANCE WITH RESILIENCE! Do not be shocked by his idiocy. As an uncle told me, many years ago, in regard to driving, "Expect the next guy to do the dumbest thing he can, because he probably will!" Expect Rumpy to do the fucking dumbest thing he can, because he probablty will!!! Take a deep breath, and remind yourself that we are dealing with a very sick puppy.
A-fricking-men!
In the good old days, when we just had to contend with nasty Republican politicians, I've suggested that not only former GOPers in power needed to be charged with war crimes at the international court in The Hague, but that it was about time to add a new international court to it to persecute environmental crimes against Mother Earth. Hearing what Drumpf and his criminal cabinet are about to unleash on top of what Republicans have unleashed on the planet already, I would urge the UN to make haste with such a court.
Not that it would ever happen, though. I'm not delusional, unlike your new not-the-popular-vote president, and know all too well that almost all UN members have huge amounts of butter on their heads (Dutch proverb), but with any opposition to the further gang rape of this planet effectively silenced by a president and his cabinet that hasn't even been fully vetted yet, it looks like the ball is in the court of America's grass-root resistance and in that of all the other countries who have signed and ratified the global warming treaty
RESIST!
I'd love to send him your way!
I love that Greenpeace hung the RESIST sign in back of the White House (rumor is Trump wanted to know why they weren't shot).
And scientists have decided to march on Washington –
"It's an idea spawned on Reddit, where several scientists — concerned about the new president's policies on climate change and other issues, and hyped from the success of the Women's March on Washington — were discussing the best way to respond to what they feared would be an administration hostile to science.
Then someone wrote, “There needs to be a Scientists' March on Washington.”
"100%,” someone replied. Dozens of others agreed.
One participant in the exchange, University of Texas Health Science Center postdoctoral fellow Jonathan Berman, took the conversation to heart. In short order, the march had a Facebook page (whose membership swelled from 200 people on Tuesday night to more than 300,000 by Wednesday evening), a Twitter handle, a website, two co-chairs, Berman and science writer and public health researcher Caroline Weinberg, and a Google form through which interested researchers could sign up to help."
Non-scientists are also welcome to march….The Resistance is alive and well!
Thanks for this!
Thanks all! Hugs!!
