Lyin' Ryan (R-WI) has made it completely clear that one of the top priorities when the Republican Rectum Reich takes charge next year is repealing ObamaCare. Although the Fuhrer promised over and over again, as he travelled the nation on his March of Million Lies, that Americans would NOT lose their health care, he was lying. The only unanswered question is when. Paul Krugmann wrote an excellent editorial on why Republicans want to snatch health care from millions. Here is his conclusion.
…Why do the Republicans hate health reform? Some of the answer is that Obamacare was paid for in part with taxes on the wealthy, who will reap a huge windfall if it’s repealed, even as many middle-income families face tax hikes.
More broadly, Obamacare must die precisely because it’s working, showing that government action really can improve people’s lives — a truth they don’t want anyone to know.
How will Republicans try to contain the political fallout if they go ahead with repeal, and tens of millions lose access to health care? No doubt they’ll try to distract the public — and the all-too-compliant news media — with shiny objects of various kinds.
But surely a central aspect of their damage control will be an attempt to push a false narrative about Obamacare’s past. Health reform, they’ll claim, was always a failure, and it was already collapsing on the eve of the G.O.P. takeover. When the number of uninsured Americans skyrockets on their watch, they’ll claim that it’s not their fault — like everything, it’s the fault of liberal elites.
So let’s refute that narrative in advance. Obamacare has, in fact, been a big success — imperfect, yes, but it has greatly improved (and saved) many lives. And all indications are that this success is sustainable, that the teething problems of health reform weren’t fatal and were well on their way to being solved at the end of 2016.
If, as seems all too likely, a health care debacle is imminent, blame must be placed where it belongs: on Donald Trump and the people who put him over the top. [emphasis added]

I shared his conclusion here, but I strongly recommend that you click through to read the entire editorial for an understanding of the facts he used to reach that conclusion.
Now, Republicans will offer their own health plan instead. It's called RepubliCare, and it's famous for the RepubliCare Death Benefit. Here's how RepubliCare works. If you are rich enough to pay for health care, you get health care. If not, the RepubliCare Death Benefit kicks in. You get to die, and the Republican Party won't charge you a penny for the privilege.

RESIST !!!
WOW, Joanne! That hits me in the pocketbook and mine is FLAT BROKE! How are we gonna get these idiots OUT before they do damage that we can't recover from??
UGH!
Certainly some hopeful thinking on my part, but I believe the rethuglicans' antics on trying to repeal/replace ObamaCare will come back to bite them in their asses.
And if they pull that stunt of a "time-delayed" repeal (hell, they've only had over SIX YEARS to come up with a "replacement" plan), ObamaCare will only be more embedded in the fabric of American healthcare – and harder for them to unravel.
We can only hope that they don't do the "balance-billing" thing to us! I would be TOTALLY screwed by that! There is so much left over that they CAN'T bill because of the Medicare law that I won't even be able to see my primary care physician, let alone the other doctors that I have to go to! OH GOD! I thought the "death panels" were supposed to be the ACA THING! They went on and on about how Obamacare would be doing that, didn't they?
Have a HAPPY New Year, TC! I will be on bed, of course! That's where I spend most of my time anyway. And with Drumpfenfarten coming in, I may just not give a damn anymore!
Keep telling yourself, "They told me to follow my dreams, so I'm going back to bed." You'll still be in bed, but you may feel more positive about it.
Lordy, we're screwed.
The pressure from the 1% who want their tax cuts on the Republicans whom the bought into Congress must be enormous and the most spineless ones have given in to that pressure even before Drumpf was helped to the Presidency. Now Drumpf is about to take his throne, many start to realize they're only sock puppets and that their voters will retaliate when they find out what repealing Obamacare really is going to mean for them on a personal level. So Republicans have banned any pictures or videos taken of the "legislation" in the House and are also delaying the repeal as long as possible, all to keep their voters from finding out the GOP is screwing them to please their true masters.
So Democrats have to lean to play a whole "new" game by never ever working with the GOP or Drumpf (who aren't necessarily the same thing), ALWAYS opposing and having a CONSTANT stream of loud and very clear communication on how the Republicans are fracking them. Writing pieces for the NY Times like Krugmann does, is excellent, but doesn't reach those people who really need to hear it. The past election has proven that the liberal message doesn't seep into the pores of American society the way the Republican lies and scaremongering do. Not that the progressives should adopt that strategy, but they do need a good plan to "refute that [Republican] narrative in advance." So:
RESIST, REFUTE and REDIRECT!
I would like to say "Happy New Year" but I am dreading what Drumpf and his cohorts, the GOP, have in store for us all in USA starting at 12 noon, January 20, 2017.
Hugzzz, Jim.
.
I ran into my pastor at Costco this afternoon and what did we end up talking about over a hotdog? — Yup, Trump and US healthcare. Even with our own imperfect system, we still discuss the pending US healthcare debacle. Some of the working class, who voted for Trump because he was going to bring back jobs, are starting to worry about losing their healthcare. And they should be worried with Paul Ryan and the Republicans lurking about. Perhaps this will be the catalyst for a revolt, a moving away from Trump and Republicans. The problem is, many will suffer and die before the next opportunity in 2018 to change the balance of power. As Lona says,
RESIST, REFUTE and REDIRECT!
Thjanks all! Hurry Hugs!!
Repeal it, put it on hold, bring it back named "Trumpcare" and it will be okay. Trump will take credit for it just like he tries to take credit for every other darn thing.
