I'm starting to wonder if Portland's temperature will exceed 32° today. We're under a Winter Storm Watch and a High Wind Warning. Several schools are closed, including the one where Wendy works, so she's enjoying a day off. I have my window shut all the way for the first time since March.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today's took me 4:55 (average 5:40). That bird looked a little tough anyway. To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From YouTube (TYT Network): Trump Puts Fossil Fuel Shill In Charge Of EPA
I disagree. Instead of "Every Polluters Ally", Pruitt will choose the name, "Environmental Pollution Agency."
From NBC: A federal judge who ordered Michigan to begin its recount effectively ended it on Wednesday, tying his decision to a state court ruling that found Green Party candidate Jill Stein had no legal standing to request another look at ballots.
The ruling seals Republican Donald Trump's narrow victory over Democrat Hillary Clinton for Michigan's 16 electoral votes.
Sorry America. Stein has failed. But she may have succeeded in her attempt to detract attention from her role in electing the Fuhrer, including both winning just enough votes to tip the scale to Trump, and her collusion with Russia to discredit Hillary Clinton by regularly appearing on and parroting disinformation from RT. She did succeed in taking advantage of our desperation to raise money to fund her future campaigns.
From The New Yorker: In a stunning rebuke of the President-elect, a new poll shows that a majority of Americans favor keeping Air Force One and cancelling Donald Trump.
According to the poll, ninety-four per cent of Americans believe that Air Force One is qualified to be an airplane, while only twenty-one per cent feel that way about Trump as President.
When told that Air Force One has a mobile command center capable of launching a nuclear attack, a broad majority said that they would feel safer with Air Force One flying around with no one in it for four years than with Trump on board.
And, in perhaps the most troubling result for Trump, if a Presidential election were held today, Air Force One would defeat him by seventeen points.
No Satire There, Andy!!
From Daily Kos: With Biden in the chair on Jan. 3, the Senate can confirm a renominated Merrick Garland. Here's how.
Click through and read the article. It might work. Do you think they have the cojones to do it?

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
6:21 Everything went wrong – the pieces glued themselves to my mouse, the phone rang, Internet Explorer stopped working. But he does look tough, yes.
YT/TYT – The way Republicans lie, I would expect him to keep the name as it is. Cenk is preaching to the choir.
NBC – No comment.
TNY – The satire must be in the premise that Air Force One is a particular plane, instead of being whatever plane the President is on, even if it's a Piper Cub.
DKos – They need to have the cojones, but they also need to have their wits about them and get it done before noon. Because there is a possibility that the new Senators become empowered at noon whether they are sworn in or not. I hope they do, but I suspect Hamilton electors are more likely. And that isn't saying very much. Speaking of the EC, did everyone see this? http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/12/5/1606903/-Cartoon-The-mysterious-stranger
Cartoon – No kidding.
P.S. – RIP John Glenn.
God speed, John Glenn
And just to show you what we're up against for the next four years – at tonight's Trump "Comey Stole the Election for Us So We Can Have This Fricking Victory Rally" Trump supporters BOOED when he mentioned John Glenn!
https://twitter.com/kurteichenwald/status/807049382327713792
His supporters – just like he, himself – are sick, hate-mongering MoFos.
Very unfortunate and just goes to show how terribly crass and unappreciative some of Drump's supporters are. Unfortunately the link does not work. I tried goggling and the Democratic Underground had something but it was removed by the author. Don't know what that is all about.
John Glenn is a true American Hero for his courageous work in space.
It was Glenn's 1962 flight that had me interested in space travel. I had models that I would work on with my father as he built aircraft carrier models etc.
See today's Open Thread.
NBC: Sad.
TNYer: I wish. Wouldn't that be great? LOL, Andy!
DK: This would be wonderful if he did! Signed petition too.
Cartoon: Good Lord, so true!
Stay warm, and relax/rest for the rest of the day. Take care, and Thanks, Tom.
Looks like Oregon, and many other states I guess, is in for a repeat performance of last year's horrible winter. Is it bad earlier than last year, TomCat, or is that just my imagination? I hope you don't have to go out too much and when you do you'll reach your destination without too many problems.
YT(TYTN): What the frack! Here I was thinking that Sarah Palin would be about as bad as it could get for the EPA, and now Drumpf has outdone himself by picking Pruitt to be the man in charge. Pruitt, the climate-change-denier attorney general who took the EPA to court on for being to hard on polluters, the fossil fuel industry's best paid errand boy will now the man who will choke America, and then the rest of the planet, to death with the pollution of air and water and carbon and methane emissions his "sponsors" are allowed to produce. This really makes my blood boil, because unlike America, the rest of the world will never be able to build a wall high enough to keep all that crap within America's borders, and ultimately this planet will be eaten by America's swamp monsters.
NBC: It was to be expected that any further investigation of the ballots would be blocked. I don't think Jill Stein has managed to "clear her name" by going for a recount. Her true intentions will become clear when she either has to refund the donations or has to donate it to a fund to reform the voting system like she promised.
TNY: You know you're slipping in the Mr. Popularity contest if a plane beats you by seventeen points, Drumpf. LOL I can understand Andy's reasoning really well: Drumpf has managed to push just about anybody's buttons since November 8, so imagine what could happen when he get's his hands on the buttons in Air Force One…
DK: No, they won't. They won't have the balls and they won't try even consider trying it.
Cartoon: Oh no, not that family Christmas card again.
Puzzle — 3:55 In a vision I once had, I was an eagle or rested on the back of an eagle flying high above a river flowing through a mountain valley in sunny skies. That was years ago yet I remember it so vividly.
Youtube — "Environmental Pollution Agency" — very appropriate! The fox is definitely in the hen house!
NBC — Seems like the fox is in the judicial hen house as well! Conservative activist judges?
The New Yorker — Andy is doing reporting again! . . . or it certainly seems so. I am waiting for Andy's series on buyers' remorse.
Daily Kos — "And having a reasonable person in that SCOTUS seat could be the difference between surviving this trainwreck of an “administration,” or seeing it destroy everything. Alternatively, in the post-fact, LOL YOLO Nothing Matters world, what’s the point in not pulling out all the stops?" — Complicated but go for it Papa Joe! Show your cojones Democrats!
Cartoon — Piece on earth brought to you by Republicans and the NRA!
Well, no snow Thursday but it was cold. The forecast calls for 10 – 20 cm (4 – 8 in) of snow starting early Friday morning, just in time to make the commute very ugly. Metro Vancouver drivers drive to the posted speed (or over it), not to the driving conditions. Sure glad I am retired!
YT/TYT: Just another asshole swimming in the refubished swamp!
NBC: Just another Ralph Nader!
N. Yorker: Hell, i'd feel better if Yuri Gagarin was at the controls!
DK: Signed!
YouTube (TYT Network): EPA: You been good to us but, now we say "Sad to see you, the EPA, going bye-bye. …sniff, sniff…
NBC: Who would have thought that the third party candidates, by voting for them, would not matter in the 2016 election thought wrong. History repeated itself from the 2000 election. By the way, Bushy has finally made the list as one of the 10 worst presidents in US history. Drumpf may make the list before his term is up in 2020.
http://www.worldatlas.com/articles/who-were-the-worst-presidents-in-the-history-of-the-united-states.html
"A federal judge who ordered Michigan to begin its recount effectively ended it on Wednesday, tying his decision to a state court ruling that found Green Party candidate Jill Stein had no legal standing to request another look at ballots."" My question is: When did the State of Michigan pass its court ruling that Jill Stein had no legal standing. First, the judge OK'ed it and second, then changed his mind a few days later. Did I miss something here… Does a crapper outhouse smell or what…? Drumpf and his GOP minions stole the election, period.
New Yorker: Andy is speaking the truth, not satire here. Yup, Let's keep Air Force One plane flying empty for the next 4 years. Drumpf has his own plane.
Daily Kos: I do hope Joe Biden is able to pull off a "miracle!" in getting Garland on the Supreme Court. The only problem is that there are several members of the Supreme Court that are very old and Drumpf has an opportunity to fill-in the people he/GOP/White Supremacist wants during his 4 years of terror.
.
TYT: Pruitt is a dream come true for the oil industry. Unforunately, I learned today that he has Kentucky connection, having gone to Georgetown College on a baseball scholarship. I bet he is a friend of Mitch.
NBC: 🙁 She should just retire.
The New Yorker: Too bad Andy's voters were not awake enough to change the results of this disastrous election.
Daily Kos: I read this article earlier, and signed the action for it. However, I don't expect it to happen.
Cartoon: Yep!
OH! I feel so ashamed! That Drumpfenfarten could have appointed Scott Pruitt to the head of the EPA is far past the pail on this!!! ARG! Talk about fix in the henhouse! This stuff is getting like a carnival ride that I can't get off of!!!
Thanks all! Tired hugs!!
