I, for one, have been concerned that Drumpfenfarten, Fuhrer of the Republican Rectum-Rage Reich, has been refusing foreign intelligence briefings, claiming to get information from other sources (Kremlin, perhaps?). He just tanked our China relations so badly, that without major damage control, we may find ourselves back in a cold war with China.
President-elect Donald J. Trump spoke by telephone with Taiwan’s president on Friday, a striking break with nearly four decades of diplomatic practice that could precipitate a major rift with China even before Mr. Trump takes office.
Mr. Trump’s office said he had spoken with the Taiwanese president, Tsai Ing-wen, “who offered her congratulations.” He is believed to be the first president or president-elect who has spoken to a Taiwanese leader since at least 1979, when the United States severed diplomatic ties with Taiwan as part of its recognition of the People’s Republic of China.
In the statement, Mr. Trump’s office said the two leaders had noted “the close economic, political, and security ties” between Taiwan and the United States. Mr. Trump, it said, “also congratulated President Tsai on becoming President of Taiwan earlier this year.”
Mr. Trump’s motives in taking the call, which lasted more than 10 minutes, were not clear. In a Twitter message late Friday, he said [Twit Tweet delinked] Ms. Tsai “CALLED ME.”… [emphasis added]

Lets dispense with the idiotic "called me" excuse. First, if I called the Fuhrer, it wouldn’t pick up the phone. The call would go to a low level aide, who would want to know who I was and what I wanted. If that aide thought it worthwhile, I’d be passed to a mid-level aide, who would grill me for much more detailed information. If i passed that test, I’d be passed to a high level aide for the final vetting of my call. If I passed, we would find a time that fit both the Fuhrer’s and my schedules, and I’d be given a special number to call at that time. I would call the Fuhrer at the appointed time, and only then would it answer the phone. Second, given the long-term absence of US formal relations with Taiwan, Ms. Tsai would have no reason to call, unless she had reason to believe it would be well received. In short, the "CALLED ME" claim is a Republican Lie. That call was prearranged!

Did the Fuhrer understand the impact of what it was doing? There is no way to tell. Fuhrer Drumpfenfarten is certainly devious enough to return us to a cold war footing with China intentionally. However, the Fuhrer is also stupid enough to have had no idea what he was doing.

Uh, oh!!!! Doesn't surprise me in the least….he lacks any skills (domestic/foreign relations), whatsoever to be President.
I read about this last Thursday I think and my jaw hit the floor, (I still have to carry it around in a sling.) The arrogant and mendacious fool kept going on about how he would "fix" everything, during the campaign. He kept going on about his skills as a negotiator and how poorly the current administration, and I suspect previous administrations including Republican administrations, negotiated agreements. Well in international politics, the "Art of the Deal" means nothing. He said he would make America great again, but all I see is an asshole who is such a narcissist that he will only destroy America, and I fear take the rest of the world with it.
Some of his supporters said "He's a businessman and knows how to get things done." Bullshit! He knows how to bully people, and that is not how foreign relations work. Drumpfenfarten is demonstrating that the past means nothing, absolutely nothing. I remember hearing him go on about China (currency manipulations) during the campaign and how he would bring China to heel. Ha!
Not only is Drumpfenfarten mendacious, arrogant, and narcissistic, but he is unintelligent in the worst ways. The best thing that Republicans can do now, since they created this mess in the first place (it's only going to get worse!), is to impeach the asshole on 21 January 2017.

Drumpfenfarten is aware there is a LOT of the US owned by China, isn't he? He was spouting so much about selling them real estate, your think he would know, but I don't give his dim bulb brain that much credit!
I concur wholeheartedly with everything so far written here – when I heard about this latest 'faux pas' I thought 'The egomaniacal idiot will cause WWIII and have not the least clue that a) he did it b) how he did it and that c) he would never admit it till the end of time and would be blaming everyone else!'. I also prayed frantically that the Chinese are ruled by someone at the moment and for the next umpteen years who is intelligent, calm, practical and compassionate to ordinary people – or none of the world's population stand much of a chance of living much longer with the idiots in charge in various countries!

Vivian has a good point and one that hadn't occurred to me – and it should, after all China has been buying up tons of the worlds real estate over many years now, why would they ignore the US…. and Trump will discover that they have many ways I'm sure to make his life difficult both as a country and as individual investors….
China could even undermine our currency, by selling a bnunch of it.
Drumpf has really no idea what he's doing. No idea at all. He wasn't just chatting with a friendly little old Chinese woman who just happened to be president of a little old island filled with Chinese dissidents, he was being very friendly with Tsai Ing-wen, a 59 year old lady who was inaugurated only at the end of may of this year and who was elected on her hard-line policies on China. Her predecessor was getting too cozy with China and wasn't completely adverse to some form of coalition with the mainland. Tsai however stands for the oposite, i.e. complete independence, and her inaugural speech wasn't well-received at all in Beijin. Drumpf now having a friendly chat with her and throwing all diplomatic advancement made over the past decades over board isn't only ill-advised – uhmmm…non-advised – but incredibly stupis. He may have been aware of what he was doing, which I personally doubt, but I'm sure he has no idea of how he has made America a pawn in the very difficult relationship Tsai's electeion had thrown China and Taiwan back into.
