I’m waiting for my grocery delivery from Store to Door to arrive. My shoulder, which is still quite painful, will make putting them away more difficult and unpleasant. Later Wendy is coming to sanitize the stinky TomCat. I think I’ll feed her cheese dawgs.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 3:40 (average 5:13). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From KP Daily Funnies: Donald Trump sings "White Christmas"
That has long been the favorite song of the racist Republican Reich.
From Daily Kos: The AP’s standards blog just posted a piece about how to use the term ‘alt-right’ when writing articles. Considering the Associated Press provides the style guidelines for newspapers and magazines nationwide, this clarification is a big deal. Here’s the sweet and succinct “usage” section.
“Alt-right” (quotation marks, hyphen and lower case) may be used in quotes or modified as in the “self-described” or “so-called alt-right” in stories discussing what the movement says about itself.
Avoid using the term generically and without definition, however, because it is not well known and the term may exist primarily as a public-relations device to make its supporters’ actual beliefs less clear and more acceptable to a broader audience. In the past we have called such beliefs racist, neo-Nazi or white supremacist.
I would edit Nazi or white supremacist to read, Nazi, white supremacist or Republican.
From YouTube (GQ Channel): Can Donald Trump Possibly Believe What He’s Saying? | The Resistance with Keith Olbermann
Barf Bag Alert!!
Everything Keith said was true. I wish I were wrong about that.
Cartoon:
It failed that time, but it can be done.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
3:58 Still the only place I've seen lantana with pink and yellow together.
KPDF – There is such a thing as being too true to be very funny.
DKos – Yes, but this is still a great move. The white supremacist looney tunes definitely need to be split up and fragmented the way Progressives have been split up and fragmented. (Those of us who discuss this seem to think we did it to ourselves. I wonder.)
YT/GQ – "Crew of a pirate ship"? Well, that's not a bad description. I kind of think "swamp monsters" is a little more accurate and matches better his babble about "draining the swamp." But more on point – does he believe what he is saying? Yes, of course he does. But you must remember that the America he wants to unify is WHITE America. Anyone else is not an American, and very probably is not human. And his voters are fine with that. He simply doesn't grasp that there are WHITE people who are NOT fine with that, let alone how many of us there are.
Cartoon – They couldn't make it stick that time, and probably that failure made it more difficult for the future. It probably can be done – but Keith Olbermann had better be right about unity. I don't see it myself.
I just get sick every time I hear Drumpf's voice! He is a great example of never hearing what comes out of his mouth and takes less time thinking of what comes out of his mouth!
Keith Olbermann should have run for president!
The "ALL Whites Christmas" was hilarious! Love Funny or Die!
Take care of yourself, TC!
KPDF: Depressing.
DK: Thumbs up, 'quack quack'!!
YT/GQ: KO is spot on!! Now, re: Dumpelthinskin: where did I put my bucket?
Hope your shoulder starts feeling better for you. Hope after putting away your groceries, and Wendy helping, you get a chance to relax. Take care, and Thanks, Tom.
Puzzle — 3:13 Pretty posies!
KP Daily Funnies — White Christmas will never be the same!
Daily Kos — The term 'alt-right' has jumped the 49th. As I was driving home after physio, the radio news was reporting racial attacks (non violent) in Richmond, a city in Metro Vancouver. Pamphlets have been distributed door to door encouraging people to join the alt-right, white power. Richmond has a heavily Chinese population such that some signs for and in stores are in Chinese only and it has become a local issue. The alt-right is a cancer that needs to be excised.
Youtube — As usual, Keith is spot on. In my view, Drumpf is interfering in the working of government as he addresses the country on Youtube.
Cartoon — Oh what a thought for Thomas! I'd include Scalia but the good Lord is already judging him! I'm sure it ain't purdy!
Another "This day in history"
1932: Great depression hunger march
Meeting of the New England contingent of Washington marchers in Union Square, New York, where they await the arrival of the New York contingent before proceeding in trucks toward Washington, DC, where they will press for unemployed relief.
(I put picture in the media library but can't get it to my comment.)
I have had the same problem, but I think I may have figured it out –
Yippee! It seems to have worked!
Thanks JD. Can you email me with the 'how to' please. I tried a number of things but was obviously unsuccessful. Thanks
KP Funnies: Sadly, his followers feel exactly the way the song says. I sent this to my son, he will love it. Daily KOs: I am glad the AP did this. I have signed petitions to all the major networks to do the same. Call them what they are, white supremacists and racist.
Keith is right, wish more of our fellow citizens had listened to him before the election.
Cartoon: I wish it would be done. Better yet, the Olberman video talked about the (I think) 24th amendment showing that an electee can be dumped. That could and should be done, although Pence is a paper Trump.
Hope your shoulder heals soon.
Thanks for this TC, the video by Keith Olbermann was wonderful and much needed. Who wrote the load of lies that Trump spouted in his 'address'? I am so glad Keith tackled him on the lies and division he so ardently promoted!
Daily Kos – alt right – I have just signed a petition calling for the media on this subject.
Cartoon – got to keep trying.
I hope the sanitizing followed by some cheese dawgs relaxed your shoulder a bit and cheered you up a bit too, TomCat.
KPDF: Very appropriate, but too true to be very funny. Drumpf has totally ruined this song for me now, but I wasn't much of a fan of it anyway. How about the resistance coming up with a Christmas song for everyone?
DK: I hope the AP's directive is clear to all in that those beliefs which were " … called […] racist, neo-Nazi or white supremacist." in the past are not to be glossed over and made acceptable by now hiding those views behind “Alt-right”. If AP's suspicions are correct and “Alt-right” is just a term thought up by its supporters as a public-relations device to their make actual beliefs less clear and more acceptable to a broader audience, the best thing would be to ignore the term completely and just call it what it really is: racist, neo-Nazi, white supremacist or Republican.
YouTube(GQC): There's absolutely nothing for me to add to Keith Olbermann's excellent video, only to repeat: "God help us and God help America."
Cartoon: A justice on trial for political bias? There are moments when it would be good to turn back the clock, briefly.
Thanks all! Pooped Hugs!
