I’m very tired and running behind, because I have lots of chores today.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 3:27 (average 4:56). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From Daily Kos: Let’s take a break from the presidential debates and non-stop media coverage of the November 2016 election and deal with a particularly urgent matter — whether or it’s legal or not to hunt for the elusive Bigfoot.
Don’t try Bigfoot hunting in California – it could result in your arrest and conviction, according to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW).
On May 11, 2012, the CDFW issued a statement in response to media reports about a Texas wildlife official proclaiming that bigfoot hunting is legal in the long horn state.
“The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department says that in theory, it would be legal to hunt Bigfoot in their state,” stated a CDFW facebook post. “Not so in California!”
Now, considering her progressive political views, it’s easy to understand why Texans would hunt our beloved Sasquatch, and she would be safer in blue California. But in the end, only one thing matters. Is Bigfoot hunting legal in BC?
From NY Times: When Jen Hatmaker speaks to stadiums full of Christian women, she regales them with stories about her five children and her garden back in Austin, Tex. — and stays away from politics. But recently she took to Facebook and Instagram to blast Donald J. Trump as a “national disgrace,” and remind her legions of followers that there are other names on the ballot in November.
“Trump has consistently normalized violence, sexual deviance, bigotry and hate speech,” she said in an email interview. “I wouldn’t accept this from my seventh-grade son, much less from a potential leader of the free world.”
In the nearly four decades since Jerry Falwell Sr. founded a group called the Moral Majority, evangelical Christians have been the Republican Party’s most unified and reliable voting bloc in November presidential elections. The leaders of what came to be known as the religious right were kingmakers and household names, like Pat Robertson, James C. Dobson, Ralph Reed.
But this year, Ms. Hatmaker’s outraged post was one small sign of the splintering of the evangelical bloc and a possible portent of the changes ahead. While most of the religious right’s aging old guard has chosen to stand by Mr. Trump, its judgment and authority are being challenged by an increasingly assertive crop of younger leaders, minorities and women such as Ms. Hatmaker.
I’m glad to see a splinter in the evangelical camp, and I have been willing to respect the belief of and coexist with folks with different beliefs, even Republican Supply-side Pseudo-Christians, if they are also willing to respect my beliefs and coexist with me. To date, that has been the problem with pseudo-Christians.
From YouTube: "Dangerous"
I endorse Katie McGinty for the US Senate. Flush Toomey in his frack-water!

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
4:33 I'll stay on land today.
DKos – TeeHee. Dear Squatch, STAY OUT OF TEXAS! We need you!
NY Times – And it's interesting how many who are splintering off are women. Sexually assaulting women just isn't such a big deal to (Republican) men, who do it every day politically, if not physically.
YouTube – Of course I am for Katie. I would have been for Joe if he had won the primary. But I may have a rep who can out-Toomey Toomey as a (homo habilis? No. Not presentable. Neanderthal? No. Too violent. Cro-Magnon? Maybe, though their skulls were bigger). I got an email from Doug Lamborn today and the subject line was "One Hundred Years of Abuse." Normally I don't even look at his emails, because blood pressure. But I got curious as to who he might have been willing to admit suffered abuse. One sentence told me that he was writing about Planned Parenthood as being the abuser. BARF!!!
Cartoon – They shalt TRY! But we are watching!
DK: Shhhhh…..don't spread this around, we'll have people in Texas, w/guns and rifles shooting in my back yard looking for the poor thing! Stay where you are, Sasquash!
NYT: This is good news, and kudos! to Ms. Hatmaker for speaking against DT.
YT: Not only is DT dangerous for the women of PA., he's also dangerous for women everywhere! GO! Katie!!
Cartoon: Of course!!
I can only say that my prayers were answered last night. I was so proud of my guys, WHAT a game!!!
Hope you got your chores done, and had a chance to take a nap. Enjoy your evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.
DK: What the hell do they do to the water in Texas? Or, was he talking tongue in cheek?
NY T: Falwell, for whom we have St. Reagan to thank/blame, has left a legacy of hores shit behind him. His Liberty Univ. teaches fools like Bachman that the founding fathers did NOT mean to separate Church and State, pure horse shit! So, we have had fools trying to push their religious agenda onto the political scene, since then. It is promising to hear that some of that solidarity is breking up.
You Tube: Toomey is fiull of that horse shit! Now, The Empty Orange wants Hillary to be drug tested before the next debate. It is going to be interesting to see how insanely low, bonzo, he will get before the debate, and election; somewhat scary, too. He will lower th bar in politics, and human behavior, as well.
The water in Texas? It can't be lead, Michigan has that market cornered. LSD?
InsaniTEA!
Daily Kos: This sounds like something Andy would write!
Ny Times: I shared this on Facebook. It is encouraging to me that not all Evangelicals are following Trump. Most of the ones I know are sincere in their beliefs, although they are not my beliefs. I respect them for their faith.
Youtube: Dangerous is right.
Cartoon: Let us hope it does not happen.
Puzzle — 3:31 Your boat has a little more hsp than mine! My great grandfather had a boat much like this called the Nancy. When she was retired, she was pulled up on the shore and became a sandbox for we kids.
Daily Kos — There is absolutely no way I'll go to Texas! I have a few great Care2 friends there, but I'm afraid I'd walk up to Greg Abbott and kick him in the family jewels so hard he'd turn inside out! Not to mention there are too many ammosexuals in Texas! In BC, there is no hunting season for Sasquatches except by camera. I'm an endangered species!
NY Times — Kudos to Jen Hatmaker! Drumpf has his PhD in Assholery and graduated summa cum laude. Obviously, Hatmaker recognised this. Too bad more don't recognise this.
Youtube — Hey, where was the Barf bag alert? Dangerous is an understatement!
Cartoon — Interesting how Drumpf and Pence seem to be on different pages when it comes to accepting the results of the election. Theft is all Republicans know! They are so accustomed to rigging elections that they think others do it to the same degree. When it comes to Drumpf, his level of paranoia is off the chart.
Y'a'' grab your camewrat and get that Sasquatch!
Good luck with the chores, TomCat.
DK: The photo dates from '67, and few sightings were made after that time, so we don't have to worry our beloved Sasquatch has been tempted to stray across the border since then. She's obviously far too sensible to have an ammosexual take a potshot at her, legally or not; she says so herself. And I'm sure she has little to worry about in BC, she's an endangered species and Canadians respect that.
NYT: You've posted some articles here before that demonstrated the splintering within the evangelical block, TomCat and it is good to see that the breach is starting to grow. The aging old Talibangelists sticking to Drumpf despite (or because of?) his normalizing "violence, sexual deviance, bigotry and hate speech" is very much akin to the angry old white males who fight for their old majority position they are about to lose. There is great overlap between the two groups and both are "on their way out". But the younger evangelist generation needs to assert itself more to get rid of the harmful influence of their dogmatic leaders, and the populists who cater to them, on their church and political party if they want to slow down ongoing secularization. Jen Hatmakers is certainly trying.
YouTube. Of course I hope Katie McGinty wins, but I wish she, and so many other Democrats, had a chance to do it in a more positive way, that is on her own merit. It's sad and dispiriting that people only are able to win an election by showing how bad, mad, dangerous, whatever their opponent is. It seems we've lost our interest in true quality and capability.
It's hard to run an all-positive campaign against an incumbent, though. People tend to feel (notice I didn't say "think" because they don't put it into words) that the incumbent has been in office for two, four, six years, and the sky hasn't fallen, so he/she must be doing all right. A challenger really does need to show that it isn't all right. It's easier to be upbeat in an open contest.
In addition to what JD said, Toomey had just released an ad, desceptively trying to distance himself from Rump Dump. The one I posted was Katie's reply to that ad.
Thanks all! Pooped Hugs!!
