You probably think I’m sounding like a broken record, but you’ll only have me harassing you about this for less than a month. In the interim, I offer no apology. The stakes are just too damn high. But don’t listen to me. And don’t listen to the Reich on the Right, The Republican Reich, including their proxies brought to you by Putin. Listen to the Reich on the Left, Robert Reich. He admonishes progressives to vote for Hillary.
I continue to hear from many people who call themselves progressives or liberals, but tell me they won’t vote for Hillary Clinton in the upcoming election.
With due respect, I believe they’re wrong.
Herewith, their three major arguments and my responses.
Some claim she’s no better than Donald Trump. “He’s bad, but she’s just as bad,” they say.
I’m sorry, but anyone who equates Trump with Clinton hasn’t been paying attention.
Donald Trump is a dangerous, bigoted, misogynistic, narcissistic megalomaniac with fascist tendencies. If elected president he could wreak irreparable damage on America and the world.
Hillary isn’t perfect but she’s able and experienced. I’ve known her for almost fifty years and worked with her closely in her husband’s administration. She will make a good president.
There is simply no comparison… [emphasis added]
From <Robert Reich>
I shared one of the three major arguments. Please click through to read about the other two.
You certainly have the right to vote for whomever you choose, but you ought to recognize that failure to vote strategically by voting for a candidate, who cannot win, has consequences that extend far beyond the feel-good protest value you derive from it. If you refuse to recognize that saving this nation from Trump carries more weight than feeling good, than be prepared to accept responsibility for consequences. At least 2000 Nader voters have one valid excuse. They didn’t realize how dire the consequences were. Today, it’s obvious.

Very good points! Of course. I'm IN.
Thanks, Tom.
You and the Reich on the left are, of course, correct (can't bring myself to say "right.") It certainly is more obvious today than it was in 2000. But, frankly, I then had already learned my lesson, with John Anderson. And a hard lesson it was, too. And a campaign then, as now, based on slander of a Democrat with integrity. The one difference then was that no one denied his integrity but thought it made him "weak." Grrr. Between Anderson and "Reagan Democrats" we were toast. And still feeling it today.
I agree with you and Reich. A vote for a third party, or a refusal to vote is the same as voting for Trump. I thought his campaign was finished when the first report came out about he and Billy Bush, but I was wrong. I am shocked at the number of women who are defending him.
Robert Reich is spot on! Perhaps these "principled" people should read or watch what Robert Reich has to say about Patriotism.
I can only reiterate what I've been saying, along with almost everyone else here, for the past months so I'll quote Robert Reich, who says it so much better than I ever could: "Donald Trump is a dangerous, bigoted, misogynistic, narcissistic megalomaniac with fascist tendencies. If elected president he could wreak irreparable damage on America and the world."
As you've pointed out so well, TomCat, anyone who doesn't want Drumpf to get to the White House but at the same time doesn't vote or votes for a third party KNOWS what the consequences of their decision could be. They are taking a gamble on enough other people willing to do the right thing so that they can remain true to their principles or cast a protest vote. It's their democratic right of course, and bullying anyone into doing something they don't want to do is Drumpfian. So all Robert Reich, All Gore and Bernie Sanders and you, TomCat, can do is appeal to their common sense and accountability. All we can do is agree, hope for the best and thank Drumpf for making such a strong case against himself.
I’m going to be the contrarian here and say there is ONE third-party vote I would endorse: Evan McMullin in Utah.
He’s virtually tied in a three-way (not THAT kind of three-way, Donald) with Trump & Clinton in the latest Utah polling. And as a variation on “The enemy of my enemy is my friend” – the loss of Utah by Trump to McMullin is a victory for Clinton.
There's always an exception somewhere.
Thanks all! Hugs!!
