I thought of sharing the complete video of last night’s massacre, but I decided to be merciful and spare you. I do have several short clips for you. When Trump stayed on script in the very beginning, he actually did fairly well. He even backed Hillary into voicing support for NAFTA, a big mistake on her part. But Hillary kept baiting him, and after around fifteen minutes, Trump started reacting. He kept getting worse, and by the end of the debate, Hillary had reduced Trump to ranting gibberish.
Coming into the presidential debate, I thought that if Hillary Clinton won decisively, she would virtually lock up the election. Coming out, it was clear that she did win decisively but I suspect that the campaign will remain ferociously close.
By all traditional standards of debate, Mrs. Clinton crushed. She carefully marshaled her arguments and facts and then sent them into battle with a smile. She rolled out a long list of indictments against Donald Trump, often damaging. By contrast, he came in unprepared, had nothing fresh to say, and increasingly gave way to rants. As the evening ended, the media buried him in criticisms.
Even so, I doubt she has put him away. For one thing, Trump supporters aren’t judging him by traditional standards. They have heard establishment politicians over-promise and under-deliver for so long that they crave something different. They were quick last night to see yet more signs of media bias. Trump was an angry figure, yes, but he is also giving voice to their anger. Those who are for him are likely to stick, despite his ineffectual performance… [emphasis added]

Lester Holt surprised me. I thought he moderated well.
The term gibberish was not mine. It actually came from Trump’s fellow Republican.
The next three clips are brief excerpts from the Rachel Maddow Show. In the first, she discusses Trump’s erratic demeanor.
In the second, she covers his interruptions.
In the third, she points out what I considered to be Hillary’s knock-out blow.
I saw the very first televised debate between Kennedy and Nixon, and I have missed very few since then. Trump’s performance was the worst I have ever seen.
That said, I suspect that virtually all the Trump supporters are still supporting Trump. For the Rump Dump Republican Rectumite base, such things as interrupting, shouting, bullying, lying, ranting and gibberish are all positive aspects of his performance.
However, I do think Hillary has made a better impression on undecided voters, and that will help America in November.

There is a lovely article, if you just want some quick quips, on Daily Kos – http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/9/27/1574926/-Literally-just-a-bunch-of-funny-tweets-about-last-night-s-debate And looking for it, I found another – http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/9/27/1575071/-Need-a-break-Here-are-12-more-funny-tweets-from-last-night-s-debate
I particuarly liked "I see Hillary has come dressed in the blood of men who have underestimated her." Also David Ehrlich's "tonight, we are pretty much sending Hillary Clinton to drill into a giant asteroid & nuke it from the inside before it can destroy the earth" But "The message from this debate: Never bring a Cheeto to a knife fight." was pretty good too.
Thanks for the links JD. Some tweets are funny, some are just plain embarrassing for Drumpf. I doubt he'd recognise the difference.
LOL!
She rocked, and ruled the Debate!!
Thanks, Tom for this.
"Rocked & Ruled"
That's fantastic! (Consider it stolen)
And yes, she DID!

Now that's cute!
I did not watch the debate but heard snippets on the radio. Of course there were reactions from Canadian politicians, none too enamoured with Drumpf, not even the Tories (Conservatives). http://www.newscaf.com/out/?i=592045 This one by Bob Rae, former federal Liberal leader and previous NDP politician, is my favourite: "I'm watching Dennis the Menace as an old man. Ludicrous." https://twitter.com/BobRae48/status/780595823717543936?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw Of course, PM Justin Trudeau is on record multiple times saying that he'll work with whomever is elected. But he was recently seen with his fingers crossed behind his back as he made this pronouncement yet again!
And then there was Wall Street with concerns about a Drumpf presidency as the indexes dropped. But then they were back up today, an indication perhaps that, in the eyes of Wall Street, Clinton was the winner.
To say that Drumpf is not on a Canuck Christmas list is, I think, an understatement.
I love Bob Rae's comparison, but perhaps it is an insult to Dennis.
It probably is, because Dennis was brought up by Hank and Alice. Had he been brought up by Fred and [invisible], however, it might have been spot on.
WOW !!! What showing for Hillary! Rump Dump Drumpf made an asss out of himself! What was all the sniffing and drinking water about? I'm not giving him excuses, but is looked like he had taken some kind of allergy med and it didn't work. I don't know what kind he had, but he acted like one of my kids when I had to give them stuff to dry their sinuses out. Looks like it didn't work too well, tho!
And the interruptions and facial expressions were just down right RUDE! If Hillary had done what he did, he would have said she was not following the rules!!!
Thanks for the clips, TC! They were GREAT!!!
I watched the whole debate. You are right, he did fairly well while following his script, but went off the rails after Hillary's careful answers upset him. The media agrees that she won, but from what I am hearing from his fans, they think he did. I am not sure any of them will change their minds, I just hope the debate will help some who had not decided yet to choose BLUE!
I wish you a speedy recovery.
Video 1: Could it be that some moderators (especially those working for Faux News) do not feel comfortable with fact checking because they don't do that for their own stories they put out to their public?
Video 2: Schmidt summarizes the debate perfectly. It looks like some Republicans will no longer be held accountable for having Drumpf as their candidate and have begun to look reality in the eye.
Video 3: Rachel and her colleagues were right to point out Drumpf's erratic demeanor. It looked like he had taken advise from Sara Palin and had a little pow wow in the restroom to "steady his nerves".
Video 4: "Almost as if he couldn't control himself"? Drumpf couldn't, period. Once he started interrupting he fell back on his normal behavior, that of a bullying, intimidating heckler. Clinton sure showed him that a future president isn't bullied, intimidated by a low class heckler who can't be "presidential" for 90 minutes when it's essential to show Americans he is.
Video 5: I think this one's my cue. I'll try to put a "As Seen From Afar" up on this subject in the next few days.
Yay!
I look forward to seeing the view.
But of course, Trump thinks he did just great… even tho his microphone wasn't working quite right (smirk)… and if he'd known Hillary was going to get down and dirty, he would have had more to say….and if Lester Holt hadn't asked him such hard questions… and…as Andy writes:
ROTFLMAOAPMP!
Great minds fall in the same ditch. You anticipated today's Open Thread.
Thanks all! Hugs!!
