Yesterday Megan put me on Cymbalta for nerve pain. I took my first pill last night. The effects were almost immediate and mixed. The nerve pain is greatly improved. However I’m feeling a bit shaky and a bit spacy. My body does not quite feel like it is my own. My sense of taste has changed, and I have no appetite. Hopefully I will become accustomed to these, and the appetite thing is actually a plus, since Wendy’s cooking added six pounds to my fat ass in the last month. Tomorrow is a holy day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb, and the Colts will be visiting my Broncos. May the Divine Orb bless your team, unless you like little horses better than big ones.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 5:56 (average 6:37). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From The New Yorker: Calling this “the greatest day of my life,” a visibly moved Barack Obama held a news conference on Friday to thank Donald Trump for granting him U.S. citizenship.
“The issue of whether or not I was a U.S. citizen has been a dark cloud over my existence for as long as I can remember,” a tearful Obama told the press corps. “Only one man had the courage, wisdom, and doggedness to make that cloud go away: Donald J. Trump.”
The President, who had to halt several times during his remarks to compose himself, praised the Republican Presidential nominee for “never giving up” in his quest to prove that Obama was born in the U.S.
Andy, have you been smoking wacky tobaccey again?
From Daily Kos: Senator Claire McCaskill goes on Morning Joe and calls Trump and Dr. Oz ‘snake oil salesman’
Why doesn’t Clinton have a larger lead? I’ll tell you!! Media propaganda on his behalf is why. McCaskill insulted snake oil!
From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): One-On-One With Bernie Sanders | All In | MSNBC
I hope the all the folks, who claim to be Berners, prove it by listening to and imitating Bernie!

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
6:04 Very persnickety.
Oh dear – sounds like Cymbalta is a mixed blessing. Well, you know your own self better than anyone – I won't presume to give advice.
New Yorker – Our President can wield snark like a Jedi. I wouldn't put this past him. However I think the actual snark is Andy's. Priceless.
Daily Kos – I saw the video was up but hadn't looked at it yet – The "Claire bear" is not perfect but I have a soft spot for her, and she makes really, really good points here. And yes, she insults snake oil, but it's the only phrase we really have, unless you know of another. You say "media propaganda on his behalf," and that is true, but there is also "media propaganda swiftboating her." And the latter has been around much, much longer. It probably should have been countered sooner – but I don't know how that would have been done – and doing it wrong could have backfired.
YouTube – While I share your hope, there are BoB ("Bernie or Bust") people who only went so far with Bernie – only while he was running – and have now decided he has betrayed him (they should learn what actual betrayal is! Well, if they elect Trump, whether by direct votes or by third party votes, they will. But I would hope for any way but that!)
Cartoon – Hah! Those are the OLD terrorists – centuries old – hardly even in new clothing! And they always have and still do beat any other terrorists hands down.
NYer: Hilarious! Thanks, Andy for the laugh!
DK: Spot on, Senator McCaskill.
YT: Great video of Hayes and Mr. Sanders. Bernie's such an inspirational man. Go Blue!!
Cartoon: Yea, isn't that the truth??
Hopefully, your meds will even out, and you'll start feeling better. Best to your team for a win, as I also, will be attending Church and praying for my Texans to win vs. the Chiefs. Hope that you have a great evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.
NY'er:Andy keps it coming, beautifully!
McCaskill nd Bernie are wonderful!
Cartoon: Religious terrorists, as with most all religions, but parasites first, and last! They were the first human parasites, then there were the bankers.
With any new med, usually best to give it some time. (But still a bit concerned)
I am glad the nerve pain is better, but sympathize with your other symptoms. I cannot take any pain med I have tried for these same reasons.
The New Yorker: This is the funniest one yet! Go Andy!
Daily Kos: Good for Senator McCaskill, Trump is a snake oil salesman. I also agree with your assessment, TC, the media have given Trump a free pass. I am still seething over Matt Lauer's behavior.
MSNBC: "Right now is not the time to be supporting a protest vote." This is the bottom line, whether you agree with everything Clinton says, whether you were a Bernie supporter, now is not the time to withhold your vote for her. If you do, Trump may win and we will all be in trouble.
Cartoon: To some extent, I agree, but mainly this is happening because the Republicans are using any verse they can find that will support their bigotry, misogony, anti LGBQT, and support for the one percent. They have used the evangelicals to their advantage. I recently shared a list of verses from Leviticus on my facebook page that showed all the Noes, and only got likes from my Blue friends.
Puzzle — 4:16 I ken the wee bit o' blue!
The New Yorker — Andy finally made it back to satire! Funny! However, having heard Obama's humour, I could believe that this could also be him.
Daily Kos — Why is it that the MSM ends up giving Drumpf so much coverage? After all, he maligns the MSM and various reporters unfairly IMO. I think it can be said in one word . . . "ratings" which comes down to money . . . advertising revenues. I'm not sure who the snake oil salespersons are . . . Drumpf or the MSM. I rather think that Drumpf is much worse, even worse than Voldemort (Harry Potter) and the snake oil salespersons are the MSM.
MSNBC — Go Bernie! He makes so much sense. Now if only everyone would really listen.
VOTE BLUE ALL DOWN THE TICKET!!!
Cartoon — This, religious extremism, and Donald Trump are 2 subjects that often come up in the sermon at church. Of course, Drumpf, IMO, is aiding and abetting the religious right, the religious terrorists. Once the election is over, I wonder how religious Drumpf will be.
Some of my meds take 2-3 weeks to adequately build up in my system. Is this the case with Cymbalta? Within a few weeks the side effects are less noticeable? . . . or non existent? I hope for your sake that is the case. Chronic pain is so debilitating. I am glad though that you are getting some relief already!
Bernie is RIGHT, for all you Berners, if you want to watch YOUR granchildren grow up, you better hope that HILLARY is the next president!!! The other alternative leads this country down a road that we fought AGAINST in WWII. And if ya don't want WWIII, DUMP RUMP DUMP DRUMPF OR ANY OTHER CANDIDATE!!! Because if you vote for a third or fourth party candidate, you may as well vote for Drumpf, cause that's who will benefit if you do!!!
Thanks all. Hugs. To clarify, all these side effects were anticipated and are usually temporary.
I wasn't aware that I was so late win with my comment, TomCat.
Glad the nerve pain is indeed diminishing with the Cymbalta and, as you say, all side effects are reported to be temporary. Be on the lookout for any strange reactions, though. On very rare occasions people experience a serious alergic reaction. You know what to do then: contact Megan's office immediately.
TNY: Drumpf either hasn't made too gross a statement this week or he reiterated only old ones, because Andy couldn't find a subject for a very strong column this week.
DK: I thought the best question forward in this interview was why none of his outlandish and proven deeds seems to stick to Drumpf but how he manages to make them stick to his opponents. This fact says something about Drumpf as well as about a sizeable part of American society. And the way media and DC handle it, its becoming mainstream rapidly and that is the most scary part for me.
MSNBC: Go Bernie, give Clinton that push she, and America so desperately needs. Get those votes, those BLUE votes out. Unite and show the world we've got it all wrong and that more than half of you are not part of the basket of deplorables. Show everyone that America is already great and better than it appears now.
Cartoon: The Romans called them terrorists as a group, later they called different fractions among themselves terrorists – as recently as the end of the last century in Ireland – and now their terrorist fractions hide behind scapegoating another religion in its entirety as terrorists. Nothing new there.
I'm off tomorrow for a week in Romania (Transylvania to be exact), with another hour of time difference added, so I won't be able to comment very much or on time the coming week, TomCat. If I can visit PP, your monthly page numbers may show a short local increase by a Romanian fan, unless these visits are as invisible as the countenance of the local vampires in a mirror. I hear they don't photograph well either, so don't expect any snapshots of them either. If all is well, I'll be back on Sunday.
You sure ROAMania around a lot!!
