Hot weather has returned, albeit not the extreme heat of a couple weeks ago. I’m still having a lot of trouble with nerve pain. Hopefully it will only be another week to ten days, as I see Megan on Friday.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 2:55 (average 4:57). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Fantasy Football Report:
Here are the results of Week 1 in our fantasy football league.

Standings:
I got my butt kicked, but I don’t expect to do well this season. I drafted last and had no players worth carrying forward, so I start from behind the 8 ball. Congrats to Rob, Vivian, Patty Monster, Squatch and Dusty. Pam, did you get the message I sent you on Care2? Tom Brady, your starting QB, is suspended for the first four weeks. You need to substitute Stafford for him for the next three games.
Short Takes:
From KP Daily Funnies: Tell Trump, "Release the Measurements"
Dang!! Rump Dump needs to visit a plastic surgeon to get a hand job!!
From Daily Kos: Planned Parenthood has been winning in the courts in 2016, as state after Republican-led state has tried to cripple the organization by defunding clinics. Now the Obama administration is stepping in to attempt to short-circuit those lawsuits with a proposed rule reinforcing existing law, preventing states from defunding Planned Parenthood or any other family planning provider for political reasons.
The proposed rule says that states cannot withhold Title X federal family planning funds from providers for any reason other than their "ability to deliver services to program beneficiaries in an effective manner." This would essentially make the same laws that apply to Medicaid—states can’t pick and choose providers the federal funds go to in the absence of fraud—apply specifically to Title X funding. Bottom line: if the rule is approved, states could no longer bar Planned Parenthood funding because some of its clinics provide abortions.
“This will make a real difference in so many people’s lives," said Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards…
It took far too long for Obama to learn the ropes and realize that, since Republicans are bad faith negotiators, even when they do make agreements with him, they always brake their promises. Now that he has learned, at last, and just does what needs doing, I’m going to miss this President.
From NY Times: The N.C.A.A., responding to a contentious North Carolina law that curbed anti-discrimination protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, will relocate all championship tournament games scheduled to take place in the state over the coming academic year, the organization announced Monday night.
Among the events affected is the Division I men’s basketball tournament, the N.C.A.A.’s most prominent annual event, which had six first- and second-round games scheduled to be played in Greensboro in March.
The announcement followed the N.B.A.’s decision in July to move its 2017 All-Star Game out of Charlotte but was seen as a particularly substantial blow to officials in North Carolina, where college basketball is central to the state’s culture and pride. North Carolina has hosted more men’s basketball tournament games than any other state, an N.C.A.A. spokesman said.
Kudos to the NCAA. All things in the Republican Theocratic Police State of McCrorystan should be boycotted.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
4:15 Surprised me. Well, he looks healthy.
DKos – Yes. About time. But applaudable (not deplorable).
KPF – The petition is real. I signed.
NYT – Yes. The right thing. But sad. I used to own a home in North Carolina, and was fond of the state (of course it had a Democratic governor then.) Now? Well, it does have Dr. Barber. That's a plus. I trust your call for a boycott of all things NC does not apply to Moral Mondays.
Cartoon – How nostalgic this makes me for the days when it was possible to be both a Republican and a decent human being.
PS – I hope all here who are grandparents had a fine day Sunday. It sort of got lost in the shuffle. And with our demographics, there are probably many.
Indeed, Moral Mondays, swinhce they oppose the Republican Reich, are exempt.
KPF: Signed. On the same subject, he'd tweet everything!
Give us a hand!
Thanks for joining the fight!
DK: Good news indeed!!
NYT: I used to live in NC, it's a beautiful state. I was age discriminated for a job there, and two friends were discriminated for their ethnicity. NCAA: This is definitely a step in the right direction. Kudos!
Our mornings are cool now, which I love, but by noon it's hot. Sorry to read about your pain. Hope that you have a relaxing evening, get some rest. Take care, and Thanks, Tom.
*Joanne: Thank you for your PS comment, that's so sweet of you!
The mornings have been cool here too, but with no wind, they aren't cooling the interior.
KP Funnies: Now, that IS funny!
Daily Kos: This was long overdue. Bevins, our Republican governor, just shut down the only clinic in Lexington, Ky. that performed abortions and was upheld by a Republican judge. Never mind the thousands of women who depended on that clinic for health care! Grrr.
NY Times: I am glad the NCAA stepped up. I have had issues with them in the past, as a Kentuckian, I have to be a basketball fan, but this redeems them.
Cartoon: This shows how much the Republican party has changed, that would never happen now.
I hope you get good weather for a while. We are back in the nineties with high humidity.
Puzzle — 3:03 I guess this means birdie fricassée, eh Puddy Tat!?
KP Daily Funnies — Drumpf has the ugliest hands and hand mannerisms I have ever seen! Funny vid!
Daily Kos — AMEN!!!
NY Times — I wonder how long it will take North Carolina voters to turf McCrory and take back their state? McCrory and the Republicans are responsible for all this BS, negative economic spin offs, foul reputation etc. Shall we give McCrory the Golden Plunger Award for throwing his state into the toilet?!
Cartoon — 2016 First female US President elected! Republicans don't like that either!
Birdie BURP!!
Sending be wells and "nerve peace", TC…
This president has been a credit to the country…with so much against him, he's done a great deal and yet manages to stay upbeat and positive. The scary – ok, one of the scary things – about Trump is his darn negativity. I believe you attract to you what you focus on most and so Trump would bring us negativity, chaos, and misery. Can't we just declare a national emergency and keep Obama?
We're having a record breaking in September heat wave with temperatures 32°C+ (90°F). Weather forecasters were quick to point out that a longer summer may be a nice side effect of Global Warming/Climate Change but certainly doesn't outweigh the far more negative effects like rising sea levels, floods, hailstorms, droughts, not to mention mass extinction…Not many climate deniers left in The Netherlands, I think. Hold on without pain medications for another week, TomCat. I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed the phantom pains abate somewhat in the mean time and that Wendy will find you some medication specifically suited for phantom pains and which are suitable for you.
KPDF: Yeah, why doesn't Drumpf release those measurements. Why is he so secretive about it, he must have something to hide 😉
DK: This proposed rule is a case of better late than never, and I sure hope it gets through soon and fast, because having to fight each state in court costs Planned Parenthood an extraordinary amount of energy and money, something that should have been used for its intended use: safeguarding the healthcare of women across America, especially of those who can't afford it themselves.
I also hope the administration isn't rushing to get the new rule to work and is taking extra care with the wording of it and make sure it's legally airtight. In the past Obamacare has been taken to the cleaners by the Republican part of the SCOTUS (then a majority) because some parts could be misinterpreted and, of course, were. The right-wing think tanks have shown themselves all too adept in finding these slight flaws or oversights and abusing them.
NYT: Sad that it has come to this, but apparently the only way to let North Carolina feel that most other states don't agree with their discrimination of the LGBT community is by boycotting (sporting) events in that state. But I doubt it will have the desired effect. Most NC politicians and voters will only dig their heels in deeper, vote Drumpf to start with and then do the same for their governor McCrory and his ilk.
Lona, it's my doctor, Megan, that needs to prescribe a new med, not Wendy.
It's easy to confuse two such wonderful women.
Sorry, my bad. Other than typing in the wrong name I don't have these wonderful ladies confused in my mind at all, I can assure you. 🙂
I didn't think you did bud did not want to confuse anyone who might. 🙂
Thanks all! Hugs!!
KP Funnies: Wonderful! Whatt about tiny brains?
DK: It has taken tooooo long, but Pres. Hillary will know, better, what she is up against, and, hopefully, deal with them more forcefully, unless the House goes BLUE!!!!!! And the senate, too. Then she may not have to.
NY Times: Way to go!
