Today is the worst day of the heat wave so far.  It’s before Noon and already 90°.  97° is forecast, but it will be hotter.  My A/C is holding its own, albeit barely.  While not comfortable, I’m not miserable either, as long as I remain quiet and expend little energy.  Would you all please keep Nameless in your thoughts and prayers?  He has an important medical appointment.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2:50 (average 5:05).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From KP Daily Funnies: Funny or Die: The Great Wall of Trump

Barf Bag Alert!!

Rump Dump target practice? Now that’s what I call a happy ending!! Winking smile

From The New Yorker: President Obama is vacationing on Martha’s Vineyard when he should be hard at work running ISIS, Donald Trump charged on Thursday.

In an interview with Fox News, the Republican Presidential nominee said that Obama’s preference for golfing in favor of the demanding day-to-day work of running a terrorist organization shows “what a disaster he has been” at the helm of the Islamic State.

“Frankly, he doesn’t deserve to call himself the founder of ISIS,” Trump told Fox’s Sean Hannity. “He is a disgrace.”

Dang Andy!! That’s absurd enough for him to say! If Rump Dump were running his eternal resting place, Hell would need to import portable heaters for frost abatement.

From Alternet: The reign of record hot months in 2016 continues, with last month claiming the title of hottest July on record globally, according to data released by NASA on Monday.

The streak means that 2016 is still well on its way to upsetting last year as the hottest year on record. Or as Gavin Schmidt, director of NASA’s Goddard Institute of Space Studies, said on Twitter, there is still a 99 percent chance 2016 will take the top slot.

Every month so far this year has been record hot. In NASA’s data, that streak goes back to October 2015, which was the first month in its data set that was more than 1˚C hotter than average.

I can name two people who believe it: the Squatch and I.

It’s no surprise that they like Trump too!

  1. Thanks for the kind wishes.  The good news is that I do NOT have a retinal detachment.

The bad news is he isn't sure what caused it, but wants me to see my PCP and neurologist for follow-ups.

I have unilateral cheiro-oral-pedal paresthesias for the past two years that have stumped my PCP and neurologist.  (I get brief episodes of numbness/tingling of my left side of my mouth, left hand and left foot).  But two MRIs w/ contrast, a carotid Ultrasound and EEG have all been normal.  So it's more just wait and see.

The eye doctor things my photopsia episode could be related to that.  We'll see …

    • Thank you so much for the update – happy the news is good as far as it goes, though I could wish it went a little farther.  I'll email you my floater story late tonight or early tomorrow.

    • Thanks for the update, Nameless. So good to hear you do not have retinal detachment, Nameless. You must be relieved about that, but I'm sure you'd like to know what caused the floaters and flashes and whether it had anything to do with the other symptoms you described. More tests is not something to look forward to, though.

    • Glad you don't have aretinal detachment, I hope they find the answer to your other problems soon!

    • Well, I Googled "unilateral cheiro-oral-pedal paresthesias" and skimmed several of the entries.  I unmderstood nothing beyond what you explained.  I hope they figure it out.

    • Very glad to hear you  don't have a detached retina.  But this other maladie definitely sounds worrisome.  Please take care of you!  Prayers and good vibes coming your way.

  2. FOD: To quote Jon Snow in GOT, "Winter is Coming". It's not going to be pretty either.

NYer: I almost missed it, and thought DT said that. Gee, Andy…got me on this one. LOL.

AN: I believe it. We've had record heat in the 100's a few weeks back, consistently every day. From the Statesman: 'The summer of 2016 has seen 24 days that have reached temperatures at or above 100 degrees. 12/8/16 *http://www.statesman.com/news/news/local/more-triple-digit-temperatures-expected-friday-but/nsD7b/

Sorry about your weather, hope it abates soon. Prayers up for Nameless, and I hope that all goes well for him. (keep me posted)..Enjoy your evening, take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

Best to you, Nameless, and take care.

  3. 6:56 (5:05)  Had to take rests, the colors were burning my eyeballs.

FoD – Can't watch, eyeballs still burned.  i'm sure it was funny.

New Yorker – I am going to bring Dante's inferno into this to say that Drumpf will be right at home in the lowest circle of ice.  And in excellent company.  for him.

AlterNet – Well, you know I believe it, and have believed it for years through record snows here.  We are a high desert.  Where the F*** would all that snow come from if there's no global warming?  I don't think that's rocket science, though way too many people seem to find it just as difficult.

Cartoon – I was thinking today there were no heroes in WWII either.  At least, few or none whose names we know, though the ordinary soldiers (and I would extend that up through company grade officers) who were making no policy, just doing the grunt work, were heroes.

  4. Another day and no end to the heat wave in sight. This summer heat is really taking it out of you and your countrymen living on the West Coast. That is, if your not drowning in Colorado. And it's all down to Obama and Hillary of course. But I'm not joking if I tell you that it's good to hear from you despite the heat and know you're holding out by remaining as quiet as possible.

KPDF: It's been said many times before, but if Drumpf should become president, the Mexicans will start building that wall themselves in November. To keep Americans out.

TNY: Oh Andy, what are you going to do when Drumpf bites the dust in November (or throws in the towel before that) and is never heard of again? Obama never was and Hillary will never be such a great source of inspiration for your satire.

Alternet: Yup, I was already aware of this heat streak, but so were millions of others by just having to deal with the effects of this excessive heat. So 2016 is likely to beat 2015, huh. Chances are that 2017 is going to beat 2016's record and 2018… But it's not manmade, nahhh, definitely not.

Cartoon: And now his American successor might be elected with their funding again.

  5. I hope you get some relief from the heat soon.  Ours has cooled down to the mid eighties and it is a relief.

KP Daily Funnies:  Yes, a happy ending, indeed.  Let us hope it is prophetic in the election.

The New Yorker:  Andy is funny as always, but would it surprise anyone if Hannity did not use this as fact?

Alternet:  It seems to get hotter every year, but according to the GOP there is not climate change.

Cartoon:  Is it not disgusting to know that any of our citizens supported Hitler?

    • LOTS of our citizens supported Hitler.Only the 1% put up money though.  But WAY too many people thought he had some "good ideas."  You notice we did not get involved until Pearl Harbor.  Too many Americans would not have supported our fighting Hitler.  And don't forget to thank God for Wallis Simpson, because Edward VIII was very pro-Hitler, and it's a mercy he wasn't king when it all blew up.  I agree it's disgusting.

  6. Seems I posted this to the wrong article purely by accident.  Sorry!

Puzzle — 4:04  I have a garden full of lavender which the bees just love.

KP Daily Funnies — Funny presentation, lousy idea.  Drumpf wants a wall?  Let him pay for it if he wins the WH . . . which I am sure he won't!  He could not afford it if recent speculation of a fifth bankruptcy is true.  He is the devil incarnate!

The New Yorker — Funny, Andy, funny!  In a similar vein, Drumpf was in Louisiana visiting the flooded areas.  People were saying "God bless you" to him for visiting when they needed support.  Of course he just had to comment that Obama should be there.  However, on TRMS, the governor, Bel Edwards, commented that Obama had done a lot in setting up the help needed like FEMA.  Further, Bel Edwards said he did need Obama there because it would take too many people and resources away from the rescue stage.  Wait a few weeks.  Of course,  Drumpf was grandstanding with his own sense of his importance.  I'd like to wring his scrawny chicken neck!  Definitely not presidential.

Alternet — Oh there is climate change!  I know in some places in the southern US for example, may have hotter temperatures than here, but they are also more accustomed to hot weather.  People might find 35 C (95 F) easier to accommodate.  Not here.

Cartoon — No surprise indeed!  Drumpf was born in June 1946, a year after Hitler died.  Sperm bank???

Weather really sucked again today and the only thing, other than a breeze, making it a bit more bearable was a humidity of 23%.  The temp was 29 C (85 F) at noon but 35 C (95 F) at 1700.  I went out for a picnic supper about 1730 at the park.  My bench was in the shade, a good breeze was coming in off the inlet, and I was able to enjoy being outside.  Once the breeze dropped down, the air became thicker.  It is 23 C (74 F) now but the humidity is up to 64% which of course means the air is thicker.  Supposed to be hot again tomorrow.

  7. Thanks all!  Wilted Hugs!!
