I’m about to leave for my routine appointment with Megan, my PCP.  Now that she’s back from maternity leave, I won’t be the red headed step child, passed from hand to hand, anymore.  I’m quite tired after yesterday, but it was great to get out for a few hours.  Terry and Sandi tossed my power chair into the trunk, and we went to Denny’s for a chat, mostly about the unfair Parole Board practice that allows prosecutors and those opposing release unlimited witnesses to testify, but allows prisoners only one witness to testify for them.  The prisoner can have only an attorney or a witness, not both.  One of my guys went to the Board a while back, and his victim’s family were not allowed to speak on his behalf.  JD, Terry returns your greetings.  She also sends greetings to the gent with whom she spoke.  I presume he needs a name.  Portland is under an excessive heat warning, so I’ll wait to publish this until I return, so you’ll know I made it home safely.

I’m hone, hot, and pooped!!  Hugs!!

  1. 4:53  Talk about breaking teeth!

Thanks for the hi from Terry.   And you got the other one right – not that it was a tough call!  I'm sure he appreciates it too (and will say so).

That is terrible about unlimited witnesses opposing but only one attorney or one witness, not even both, for advocating.  I suppose they are afraid if they allowed more, one might say something sensible?

Rest and stay cool.  I definitely need to do the same.

  2. That's a shame about the Parole Board doing that, how sad!!

Glad you got there, and back home safe and sound. It's 100 here, and will continue. Nothing is moving outside.
Do have a resting, relaxing evening, take care, and thanks, Tom.

  3. Sadly, the cards are stacked in the favor of the powers that be!

  4. Actually, you don't look all that pooped in the cartoon, TomCat. That must be because cats don't sweat and keep their cool at all times πŸ˜‰

Joking aside, I'm glad meeting up with volunteer friends was good, even though your subject of conversation wasn't very joyous. It seems the whole judicial system is set up against rehabilitation and returning to society after dues are paid. American society, like many others, seems to be focused on taking revenge to its limits rather than on giving each and everyone the chance to be a good citizen and participate in society on an equal base.

Take care of yourself in this heat, TomCat. And that goes for everyone who is suffering in a summer heat wave right now.

  5. 3:08  Have fun chowing down on that Puddy Tat!

Me thinks the parole system in the US is in dire need of substantial reform.  Let's start with some respect for inmates as human beings!  Parole hearings should not be restricted to a lawyer or a witness on behalf of the inmate while the government gets unlimited persons.  That kind of parole hearing is stacked against the inmate.  And while that is happening, ex-inmates should be able to vote.  Give them a reason to participate in society in a positive way.  And while we're at it, return all prisons to government control.  The government lead the prosecution and convicted the inmates and as such should be responsible for their punishment.  I won't even get into the death penalty because my blood pressure will go too high!  OK, stepping down off my soapbox!

Stay as cool as you can. It is going to be a scorcher!

  6. Glad you got home safe and I hope you get a break from the heat.  We were told here in Ky that we were getting a cold front next week and should only have highs in the mid 80's.  I am not sure our weathermen understand the word "cold".

  7. Thanks all.  Hugs!!
