I want to get as much rest as I can this weekend. Tomorrow is shower and housework day. Monday is the Fourth. Tuesday is break in a new home health aide day. Wednesday is a two hour appointment to evaluate my residual vision. Thursday is grocery delivery day, and Friday is Physical Therapy day. So I’ll be scarce next week.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 4:13 (average 5:25). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From Daily Kos: here is doing the good deed of calling U.S. Congress members to voice concerns—and then, there is doing that good deed while videotaping your calls. One woman named “Heather Calling” has decided to do both as she tries to get answers on why Republican lawmakers are doing nothing to stop the epidemic of gun deaths in America. You can subscribe to Heather Callings’ YouTube channel here.
In this first video, Heather Calling places a call to the office of Senator Mitch McConnell…
Sorry Heather, but Bought Bitch Mitch is not for sale to folks like us. He’s already bought and paid for by the 1%.
From NY Times: Defense Secretary Ashton B. Carter on Thursday removed one of the final barriers to military service by lifting the Pentagon’s ban on transgender people serving openly in the armed forces.
“Effective immediately, transgender Americans may serve openly,” Mr. Carter said. “They can no longer be discharged or otherwise separated from the military just for being transgender.”
Kudos to the Obama Administration.
From Media Matters: Laura Ingraham Suggests People Wear Diapers Rather Than Share Bathrooms With Transgender People
I strongly suspect that Ingraham already wears adult diapers, as she clearly lacks the maturity to coexist.

5:47 Pretty Any toxic ones among them?
DKos – Yes, you're right, he doesn't have any special discount rates for ordinary people, but it was good of her to ask.
NY Times – Kudos indeed. A little late for Chelsea Manning. Although correcting injustices like this is always too late for someone. Good reason to just go for justice in the first place,
MM – Well, if she does wear adult diapers, she can get a job packing chickens for Tyson. Those workers don't get bathroom breaks.
Cartoon – Right.
Off topic – How come no one is talking about Istanbul? No one is saying "We are Istanbul"? Just askin'.

Terribly sad that you can raise such a valid question
… Even sadder that we all know the answer.
WRT Ingraham’s suggestion that people wear diapers rather than chance sharing a bathroom with another human being …
Well, when it comes to Laura Ingraham, I suspect someone out there Luvs her, and even Pampers her with lots of little Huggies. But as for any chance of ever following her advice, it Depends …
(Someone had to do it – might as well be me)
love it.
Me too!
Me, too TOO!
A busy week ahead, TomCat, but mostly with usual activities, even a bit boring activities and that is so good to hear. The check on your eyesight is of course of most interest to you, and us ?
DK: What a great and creative idea to bombard Republicans with phone calls asking them how much their vote costs. LOL But I don't think you'll ever get past their secretaries – they're never in their offices anyway but on 'recess' – and they'll never hear about it, but it makes for great videos and makes people get creative.
NYT: Second your Kudos, TomCat. Give LGBT people the same rights as anyone else. Equality for all.
MM: What a wonderful idea, Ms Ingram! I can't wait to see all those hate-filled bigots doing the cowboy waddle in stores and public buildings with their diapers filled to the brim. It'll make those Republican LGBT-haters so easy to spot with having to listen to their BS first, we can now smell them from afar. ? When can we expect to see you wearing your double layered nappy, Laura?
Cartoon: Ouch…
DK: I like this young lady!! Very innovative!
NYT: Great news, it's about time!
MM: Where do they come up with these ridiculous ideas?? Like Joanne's comment. So true. Still.
Cartoon: Ewww…..!
You sound like you are going to be very, very busy this upcoming week. Please…at some point, do try and rest and regroup. In the meantime, take good care, REST, and enjoy your evening. Thanks, Tom.
Try to get some rest while you are getting things done next week.
Daily Kos: Mitch is bought and sold for sure, to the NRa, the coal companies, and any major corporation that will donate to him. He campaigned on his support of coal miners in the last election blaming Obama for the drop in coal jobs. Now the UMWA pension plan and health plan are in dire straits and he is refusing to vote to pass the act to help them. Some friend!
NY Times: I was so glad to hear this, it is about time the transgenders got some good news.
Media Matters: This woman must be really good friends with Rush.
Puzzle — 3:58 Pretty posies! I think many of them are pansies, one of my favourite flowers.
Daily Kos — An attempt to have a "serious" conversation but knock, knock, nobody home. LOL! I actually think she got a more inteliigent answer than if she connected directly with McTurtle.
NY Times — Kudos! But until it is actually working with no hiccups in the ranks, it still is just words.
Media Matters — Ingram is an idiot! And no doubt, the world will really smell! (I know what it is like at my mother's care centre!)
Nameless: "Well, when it comes to Laura Ingraham, I suspect someone out there Luvs her, and even Pampers her with lots of little Huggies. But as for any chance of ever following her advice, it Depends …" — Love it! You are a professional wordsmith!
Cartoon — Yow!
Use some Lona naps if you need, too.
Transparency sometimes makes a difference–but not with those owned by the NRA who probably welcome independent verification of that allegiance.
Carter's move is welcome–yet doesn't mean the discrimination will end quickly.
Can't stomach Laura today.
Hooray for Heather!!! I found this hilarious and inspiring…. we should all make such calls!
