I’m waiting for Julie to arrive, so I’m sure I’ll finish this after she is gone.  This weekend I want to do two things: rest and hydrate.

Julie has come and gone.  She made me a primped Puddy Tat, and I fed her baby back ribs.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:31 (average 5:53).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Killer Dawg Update (taken Wednesday):

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: Consider this: John McCain has just said something just as, if not even more insane and offensive than Donald Trump:

John McCain: Obama is ‘directly responsible’ for Orlando attack

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the elder Republican statesman, said President Obama was “directly responsible” for the terror attack in Orlando due to his failure to combat the rise of the Islamic State terror group.

McConJob has now whored himself so far that he’s aping Rump Dump Trump.

From NY Times: Senator Marco Rubio of Florida is leaning heavily toward running for re-election to the seat he swore he was giving up after six often frustrating years and a failed presidential run, associates said on Friday, a reversal that would upend one of the most competitive races in the country.

Mr. Rubio could make his decision public early next week after he spends the weekend with his family in Florida weighing the personal, political and financial considerations of another campaign. One adviser who described the senator as “all in” said Mr. Rubio’s staff members had already begun scouting a site for a possible announcement.

The last thing we need in the Senate is a Border Booter Bot, a Republican racist Latino, bigoted against his own people.

From Washington Post: Bernie Sanders could offer an endorsement of presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton before the party’s convention next month, depending on the outcome of ongoing policy talks between the two campaigns, Sanders’s campaign manager said Friday.

Jeff Weaver, a longtime Sanders confidant, said that he has been encouraged by discussions over several policy issues important to Sanders — including a plan for tuition-free college — that Sanders would like to see as part of the Democratic legislative agenda going forward. Clinton and Sanders began talks in earnest over such issues during a meeting Tuesday in Washington.

“The resolution of those issues are important to determining any timetable” for a potential endorsement, Weaver said, adding that the outcome could also determine “how closely the campaigns work together” heading into the fall to defeat Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee.

During an address live-streamed across the country Thursday night, the senator from Vermont did not concede the Democratic nomination to Clinton but told supporters that he plans “in a short period of time” to start working to see that “Donald Trump is defeated and defeated badly.”

Thank you, Bernie!

  1. 5:16 (4:53 early)  Michael is one tough cookie, he is.

Glad you are primped.  Killer Dawg – Aaaaaw.  Those eyes!

DKos – Typical, typical, typical.  Everything is Obama's fault.  Even if time travel may be required.  (Seriously.)

NY Times – Mr. Rubio proves that even a Hispanic is capable of picking up the Ayn Rand I've-Got-Mine-F**k-You position.

WaPo – I seldom watch anything political – whether I am pro or con, love or hate the speaker, it makes my skin crawl (maybe I'm allergic – I am to so many other things.)  But I did get through that speech, and I thought his intentions were made very clear.  In a very positive way.  I almost went into some kind of shock or overload, hearing so many proposed actions I believe in so passionately cited in such a short time (about 24 minutes, as I recall).  But that kind of overload I will take, thank you very much.

Cartoon – Republicans have already repealed US support for it on a de facto basis as executed by Baby Bush, Cheney, Rummy and the crew.

  2. Bernie does deserve our thanks for his strategy of holding Clinton accountable to progressive policies she wooed voters with and preventing her backpedaling on all of them.  Doing so now when she cannot know how the committees will build the Party platform is excellent.  Thus far he apparently has only pushed on the more cosmetic of the policies and not on any of the root causes of income inequality, etc.  IMO she has a whole lot more to do to unify the Party and far more to become a candidate his supporters' ethics and moral value could even permit considering to support.  The best case scenario for beating Trump, due to her persistent disconnect from progressives and other ordinary people, is for indictment(s) before the convention and her putting the Party before her ego and drive for power and suspending her campaign.

  3. DK: He needs to retire from politics. imho.

NYT: Yep, another robot who will bow down with the Repugs.

WP: Both are committed to defeating Drumpf, and that's an important issue. Love Bernie. 😉

Cartoon: Human Rights. Oh, happy day for the Repugs to repeal a document that sets out fundamental human rights and to be globally protected for all. Geesh!

Glad that you got your primping done. Love the pictures!!! Killer Dawg is the cutest thing ever. Shhhh…don't tell my Corgi that!  Get plenty of rest, relax, hydrate, and take care. Thanks, Tom.

  4. 3:05  This reminds me of a book, The Stone Angel, written by Canadian author Margaret Laurence.  It was required reading in grade 10 or 12 English literature.

  5. On a disturbing note:

The Unexpected Side Effect of Hillary 2016: How She Transformed Democrats Into 'New' Republicans
The Clinton campaign has drained many of the ideals Democrats have long stood for.

    • Her conclusion is "Defending a two-party system that has abdicated any connection to reality simply seems insane."  I agree, but until we change it, we have to recognize that purality rules.

  6. Puzzle — 3:05  This reminds me of a book, The Stone Angel, written by Canadian author Margaret Laurence.  It was required reading in grade 10 or 12 English literature.

Is killer dawg a pawg (baby dawg) or an adult dawg?  In these pictures he looks like like a pup . . . with big brown eyes that can melt even the hardest of hearts.

Daily Kos — I was going to use this story from a different source in my next OT.  From Huffington Post :

“Barack Obama is directly responsible for it, because when he pulled everybody out of Iraq, al Qaeda went to Syria, became ISIS, and ISIS is what it is today thanks to Barack Obama’s failures,” McCain said, according to The Washington Post.

I think McCain is date challenged among other challenges.  It was Baby Bush who started the war in Iraq and  negotiated the exit strategy with the Iraqis.  Not Obama.  It was the sectarian violence between Sunni and Shi'a Muslims in Iraq that spawned ISIS, and that violence was the result of the war started by Baby Bush et cie.  I agree, McConJob is a Drumpf whore.

NY Times — You'd think that Rubio would forego another whooping so soon after the presidential campaign defeat at the hands of Drumpf and Cruz.  Let's hope that Floridians have learned enough to dump Rubio along with Drumpf.

Wasington Post — Let's hope that the Bernie or Bust gang follow Bernie's lead.  One of Bernie's concerns seems to be ameliorated with the defanging of Wasserman Schultz.  That might be a temporary move, but hopefully, Democrats will see the wisdom of it and make it permanent.

Cartoon — Now if only countries would live up to these ideals!

  7. Killer Dawg is adorable!

Daily Kos:  I have had no respect for McCain since he embraced Dubya.  He seems to be over the edge!

NY Times:  Since the Presidency isn't in thepicture, he probably needs a job, why not go back to what served him best? I bet that is his thinking.

Washington Post:  Bernie continues to show acumen and class. This seems to be the only way to have things he really wants included.  I hope those who have refused to support another candidate will listen to him.

Cartoon:  A noble act that many still don't have.

  8. It sure looks like you're going to miss both Julie and cute little Killer Dawg a lot, TomCat. Yes, even a cat can get attached to a dog, ad even admit to it too 😉 I like your plan for the weekend: rest and hydrate. I hope you sleep well.

DK: So Obama is not only responsible for the Orlando killings by being "weak and not smart or having "a hidden agenda" (Drumpf), he's also "directly responsible", by not having wiped out every man, woman and child in Da'esh held regions in Iraq and Syria in the hope there'd be some terrorists among them. Because that's the way real, white men do it, right Mr. McCain? Never mind the killings had little to do with Da'esh but everything with the homophobia and hatred you, your party and your presumptive candidate, whom you'll vote for, have been sowing and watering like mad.

NYT: Rubio had some time to look around for a new job, and apparently nobody wanted to take on such a loser. So for him it's back to where all the Republican losers gather to comfort each other. It's up to the voters now to make sure he's not going to waste any more taxpayers money by doing nothing but block and oppose and send him into early retirement.

WP: Bernie shows the way, again. Great going, Mr. Sanders.

Cartoon: One of the most important declarations of the century, supported on paper by many countries. Note the "on paper".

  9. Thanks all!!  Hugs!!
