One of the few things about which most Democrats have agreed is is that Debbie Wasserman Schultz has done a horrid job as the DNC Chair. Of course, a few think she is a Hillary Clinton ally, acting in her behalf, but many of those folks think Donald Trump, Beelzebub, and the ghosts of Adolf Hitler and Ronnie Ray Gun are also Hillary Clinton allies. One person who does not think so is Hillary Clinton.
In 2008, when then-Sen. Barack Obama sewed up the nomination, his team rushed to fill the ranks of the Democratic National Committee. That is normal, as the committee’s No. 1 task is to support the presidential campaign (the Senate and House Democrats have their own committees).
If you remember, Howard Dean was the head of the DNC at the time, and he remained nominally in charge, but Obama’s team was in full control. Dean had been moved to the sidelines. It wasn’t an antagonistic move. It simply meant that the presidential campaign and the DNC had to be in sync, and the best way to manage that is to have people from the same team in charge. So with that bit of background, say goodbye to Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
Hillary Clinton's campaign is taking the reins of the Democratic National Committee, installing a new top official on Thursday to oversee the party's day-to-day operations through the general election.
Brandon Davis, national political director for the Service Employees International Union, will become the general election chief of staff for the Democratic Party. His selection formalizes the coordination of the Clinton campaign and the committee, a stark contrast to Donald Trump who is currently at odds with his party…
From <Daily Kos>
Schultz will be relegated to fundraising and cheerleading, while Davis actually runs the Democratic Party. Davis appears to be the opposite of Schultz. He's competent, charismatic, energized, and progressive.
I have to admit that, assuming Hillary actually gets the nomination, my support for her will include a held nose, but I give her just credit for doing this right!!

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Glad to read that DWS is de-throned, Kudos to Mr. Davis!
This is certainly good news!! Thanks, Tom.
Well, in my case, due to all my allergies, I will probably not be holding my nose, because I won't need to, it will already be stopped up. But, seriously, this may be the most positive news about Hillary this year. This goes beyond saying things and into the realm of doing something.
In 2008, I supported Hillary, before I supported Obama. Maybe the reasons I had at the time will resurface as the campaign goes on. There is a lot to Hillary, and some of it is good. I will keep watching, and hoping for more news similar to this.
As a member of SEIU, I and a LOT of Union members were pissed off that the Union endorsed Hillary without asking us for input! But now I see why..;) I like Hillary, have always believed that she & Obama were interchangeable, and I hope she is Forced to lean left after this election is over. It took a second term for Obama to relax & lean left…too little, too late for too many. But I "think" Hillary has learned at least some lessons & hopefully will get Warren on ticket (I still think she would've been stronger With Sanders). I've also read that DWS will still be the DNC Chair..I don't know if people (well, ME any way) really believe the Chair has no clout, is not a big deal, etc. – so getting rid of her completely is still needed! I still won't donate to the DNC until I read that she's gone!
Over my LONG lifetime, many (not all of course) Vice Presidents have disappeared into the woodwork never to be seen again. Perhaps I am off base, but I do have a concern that having a former President as the Presidential spouse might make that more likely, and I do not want either Liz or Bernie to disappear, so I am fine with it being someone else altogether. And, for me, preferably NOT anyone who is in the Senate. I think we have a good chance of a supermajority there, or close, and I don't want that blown. But of course, I am far from always right.
I agree with JD on this. The VP slot is the worst spot Liz could have for holdinjg Hillary's feet to the fire.
One key difference in this convention is how much further apart the candidates have been on policy issues and how much many people believe Clinton wants to back pedal to her moderate and neocon preferred positions and away from the progressive positions people voted for; thus one will expect equivalent biases as found in DWS with Clinton's handpicked minions increase the odds the Party will self destruct with Clinton's autocratic authoritarian style of management and leadership.
Good to know, and about time, too. Schultz has acted like a Republican.
Good to know. All that is left to do is to get Wasserman Schultz out permanently!
A good step, but having the campaign team taking over the control of the day-to-day running of the party apparently isn't something novel Hillary has done, as Obama has done the same thing before her, nor is it something she has done especially to push DWS aside. Until DWS is officially dethroned as head of the DNC it'll be a convenient coincidence and political cosmetics rather than a drop-kick. However putting young and progressive Brandon Davis in charge is a good step forwards and bodes well for a Clinton-Sanders campaign intent on defeating Drumpf and his Republican serfs.
Lona, if Schultz were not being kicked toi the curb, she would be incoprorated into the campaign.
Ding dong, the bitch is gone! Sanders would be the nominee if she was gone long before this! Too late for him.
Peace, love and hugs, TomCat!
