In politics it is said, that when not fueled by hope there is a vacuum for fear to fill. Since artists turn to the muses, Clio, Euterpe, Thalia, Melpomene, Terpsichore, Erato, Polymnia, Ourania and Calliope we are exploring what they can offer us for inspiration to have the hope fueling politics.
“We have always held to the hope, the belief, the conviction
that there is a better life, a better world, beyond the horizon.”
-Franklin D. Roosevelt
“The capacity for hope is the most significant fact of life. It provides human beings with a sense of destination and the energy to get started.”
-Norman Cousins
Let us first turn to Melpomene (tragedy perhaps as the back stories) and Calliope (justice):
PHR Welcomes Guilty Verdict Against Radovan Karadzic, Key Figure in Bosnia’s Genocide
“Landmark ICTY ruling brings justice to victims of Europe’s worst genocide
since World War II.”
and
The meaning of Tyson Foods
“Last week's Supreme Court decision in Tyson Foods v. Bouaphakeo represents not just a reprieve but an affirmative win both for workers and for class action plaintiffs more generally.”

Gives me hope for change, how about you?
Now to some history courtesy of Clio:
Introducing hanami: the Japanese tradition that'll make you fall in love with nature.
Gave me a peaceful, centered hope, how about you?
Erato would claim this one (love):
This first-grader needed a special kind of help. So her teacher gave her the gift of life. (text and video)

Clio – In the game of Hanafuda, Uwe are for February and Sakura are for March. And that is all I can remember. I haven't played it for maybe 30 years. I might still have a deck around – but I am not holding my breath over that.
Erato – Beautiful.
Creatures – How fascinating that the Greeks, who certainly practiced what are sometimes called the plastic arts and sometimes the visual arts of sculpture, painting, and the like, never associated any of the Muses with them. I say that because the author of the article compares one story to a very bad game of telephone; it seems to me all these stories are like a bad game of telephone, but one played in visual arts instead of with words. That "unicorn" for instance – I can certainly see a fairly accurate but crude sketch of the creature he posits getting transformed through other sketches over centuries into something we would call a unicorn (which, after all, only means "one horn"). But how to assign this – I really can't say.
Thanks for keying in on my one frustration in balanced content given this limit related to the arts for this series…
Melpomene: Relieved to read that former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic is going to serve 40 years in prison for genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity during the 1992-1995 Bosnian war. He deserved this, but much more time, imo.
Clio: TomCat would love laying on a branch in the trees there. Absolutely gorgeous. I'd love to ride on a Swan Boat, too.
Erato: Most teachers have BIG, and Loving Hearts! I wish Natasha and Ms.Schmidt a speedy recovery! On my (old) campus, a teacher donated one of her kidneys to her mother, and we lined the hall to clap when she returned back to her class. I get something in my eye every time I read loving stories like this!
Thalia: Oh…this is classic Stephen! Loved this!
Terpsichore: 1. A great way to learn the Dance moves, which he has, of course!
2. WOW! THAT was really awesome, leave it up to kid's to jump like that!
6 Creatures: Liked them all. The Olms are my favorite, as I am a GOT fan.
Thank you, JL for this great post!
Calliope (Justice): A good decision against Radovan Karadzic, Key Figure in Bosnia’s Genocide. I am still waiting for the Bushy people to be taken to the Hague for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Tyson Foods : "…class action plaintiffs made important gains."
Hanami: Japan has a very large celebration for the Cherry Blossoms. In Washington DC, it has its own Cherry Blossoms celebration although not in the same vein as in Japan.
When is the Best Time to Visit Washington DC to See the Cherry Blossoms?

Gift of Life: Awesome Gift!
Cartoon Donald Trump: Amazing…
Dancing Machine: Good moves. lol.
Jump Rope: WOW!
6 Creatures: Fairy Tales: Fanciful Myths but may have its origins in and based on real animals at one time in our past. Manatees aka Mermaids are sooo cute. Unicorns as Rhinos – Rhinos are on the verge of total extinction in our time.
