Just read our morning paper, and for the $100,000 Grand Prize I’m planning on saving TONS of daylight. But my good friend, Earl E, Byrd, told me not to jump the gun and be sure to wait until Sunday, or like our mutual friend, Ruddy Daye, warned, “You’ll live to regret it.” But I checked, and my lawyer, Kermit A. Kryme (of the law firm, Dewey, Cheatum & Howe) assured me I’m not violating any rules … yet. So here’s the article that got me buzzed:
[Editor’s Note: Sorry, but I can’t make it any larger, so you may have to increase your screen size to make it legible. Thanks.]
I’m in it to win it! And I think I actually have a chance, unlike the paper’s annual St. Patrick’s Day “Irish Pub Singing Contest” – which is ALWAYS won by Kerry O’Kee.
So “Happy Springing Forward!”

News for spring forward time change in USA:
Spring forward 1 hour occurs this Saturday night, early Sunday morning at 2 AM, March 13, 2016. Most people usually set their clocks ahead before heading to bed Saturday night.
I remember doing the clock resettings on the unit where I worked on the graveyard shift. Changing all the clocks took over a half hour and made for a very fast paced shift of 7 hours. I also needed a long step ladder to reach the clocks.
As for the “$100,000 contest”, I’ll be by-passing it. lol.
I think I'll sleep through the contest…
Cross-posted to Care2 here.
Still needs a right-click, sorry.
Not to be picky (all right, it is picky) but the "hold moonbeams in your hand" is from "Man of La Mancha," not "The Sound of Music." OK, I've spent way too much time with both.
Even though it makes me feel jet-lagged for at least two weeks, I always welcome DST because the extra hour before sunset allows me to do more, since I can no longer drive when it's dark.
Well, I can pick up the “picky” gauntlet and get even pickier.
Sorry to say, but the Nuns in Sound of Music would point out that no one has “Solved a problem like Maria”
With their burning question of … “How do you hold a moonbeam in your hand”
Touche! (Don't ask me why I remember "To Each His Dulcinea" so well, I might cry).
Thanks for cross-posting, Joanne and good luck with your jet-lag.
I think I'll start saving now!!!
I'm excited, as there's plenty of sun/daylight here.
How funny! LOL !!!
Wouldn't you know, Europeans are excluded again, because we don't start putting our clocks ahead until the last weekend of March, so this year it coincides with Easter There's no competing when Americans have a head start of two weeks of daylight saving, is there. Sigh…I probably won't find a light-tight jar to hold it it anyway.
Thanks for the posting, Nameless. The article was really funny, and your text was even funnier. It really made my Friday.
My Birthday present is the loss of an hour's sleep.
Easy to give as a gift …
But SO hard to wrap!
