I’m continuing to improve, but I’m so far behind on everything that I’m completely swamped. Therefore this is today’s only article. Hugs!
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 4:14 (average 4:51). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From The New Yorker: Adding a new wrinkle in an already unpredictable election year, Donald Trump saw his poll numbers plummet on Monday after receiving a surprise endorsement from President Barack Obama.
The long-awaited downfall of the abrasive billionaire came in startling fashion, as few had expected the President to offer a full-throated endorsement of Trump, especially on the eve of the all-important Super Tuesday primaries.
Praising the Republican front-runner during a nationally televised address, the President said that, despite media reports to the contrary, Trump shared his views on such important issues as immigration and religious tolerance. “In every way that matters, Donald and I are on exactly the same page,” Obama said, pointing to a framed picture of the billionaire on his Oval Office desk.
Uh Oh!! Andy put InsaniTEA in his Wacky Tobacky!! Dang!!
From Daily Kos: Only hours ago, in an interview with Jake Tapper on CNN, Donald Trump repeatedly refused to repudiate a political endorsement of Trump’s candidacy from KKK leader David Duke, pleading ignorance of Duke and what he represents (white supremacy):
Barf Bag Alert!!
Hateful Hairball has already demonstrated his racism.
From NY Times: Nearly three years after Iran’s reform-minded president was elected, the most reactionary voices in Iranian politics are losing ground to moderates buoyed by the sweeping nuclear deal with big powers, including the United States.
Though hard-liners still control the most powerful positions and institutions of the state, two national elections last week appeared to build on the slow but unmistakable evolution toward a more moderate political landscape — now and into the future.
It’s a pleasure to report good news for a change.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
March sure didn't come in like a lion…but starting tomorrow night rain is forecast more days than not through the Ides of March. Maybe the lion will show itself in Super Tuesday race results…glad you continue to improve!
If it comes in like a lamb, it should go out like a lion. But, remember, that was before climate change, so as I see it, all bets are off.
Then DC (4/1) and WI (the 5th) might have weather affecting their voting…
Glad to hear of your improvement! Slow but steady wins the race …
But imitate a tortoise instead of a McTurtle
3:44 (4:51) Kangaroo paw. Right.
New Yorker – It might work but I HOPE we are not quite THAT desperate YET.!!!
DKos – Oh, yeah, and he's getting points from THAT endorement. Barf!
NYTimes – It's not a solution, of course, but it's very, very promising.
Cartoon – Everyone is probably very tired of my tidbits from "Antiques Roadshow" and more recently "Finding Your Roots" – but I can't resist sharing that an ancestor of Neil Patrick Harris was burned as a witch in England before the Salem trials (in Salem no one was burned; all were hanged except Giles Corey, brave man, who was pressed to death).
NYer: LOL, Andy. Loved your comment too, Tom.
DK: Of course he knows, and supports this Barf Bag. Lies, lies and more lies. And people vote for this guy?? UGH!!
Cartoon: What Joanne said. ''In October 1692, Governor William Phipps of Massachusetts ordered the Court of Oyer and Terminer dissolved and replaced with the Superior Court of Judicature, which forbade the type of sensational testimony allowed in the earlier trials. Executions ceased, and the Superior Court eventually released all those awaiting trial and pardoned those sentenced to death. *History
Glad to read that you are feeling better. Do things in small tasks, even if it takes you longer. Relax, and take care. Thanks, Tom.
2:49 That's one roo that didn't get away from me.
Puzzle — 2:49 That's one roo that didn't get away from me.
The New Yorker — Wouldn't that be a hoot!
Daily Kos — I watched this on another site yesterday and could not believe it. Trump would have people believe that he doesn't know who David Duke is or white supremacy?! He wants to be president and he hasn't a clue?! When pushed, Trump finally said "I would disavow them if I thought there was anything wrong." Now isn't that a non disavowment! As a racist twit, he says he would disavow if HE thought there was anything wrong. A racist like Trump will find little wrong with white supremacists. What a line of bullshit!
NY Times — Now keep the damn Republicans out of Congress and the White House! Foreign relations will go much more smoothly.
Cartoon — Oh look! It's Christine "I'm not a witch!" O'Donnell!
Glad to hear you are improving. Hang in there!
The New Yorker: Love Andy! This would be the perfect way to "dump Trump", if his supporters thought Obama endorsed him they woud depart in droves.
Daily Kos: If he has never heard of David Duke, then I have a bridge in the desert to sell him. Sadly, this will make him more popular amongst the ignorant who support him.
NY Times: This is good news for the Iranian people and perhaps the rest of us. If enough moderates take control in Iran maybe they will not be such a hotbed for terror. Now if we could get those in our country who want to elect radicals to see the same it would be a better world.
Cartoon: I bet they wish they could do it again, oh wait, I forgot Benghazi!
March has come in like a lion here (thanks for the reminder of that saying Joanne!) let's hope it goes out like a lamb (gales, sleet, freezing cold rain, and snow in some parts). Australia is enduring a heatwave in the beginning of their autumn (at least in the parts where my friends are) and a drought – which means they must be wary of bushfires.
So very glad you are improving TC – I've only just been able to get back to C2, saw you'd been ill again, briefly panicked then was reassured – I hope you continue to improve.
My (elder) sister has just been for four hectic days of decorating heroism – she really is indefatigible – and I am just trying to catch my breath, so I can't be back regularly yet; there is still plenty of chaos left to sort out – things stacked up and odd bits of paint where they shouldn't be as always happens with such concentrated effort. At first she was impressed by my efforts over the previous four months, then when she left told me I'd have to try harder despite being so ill, exhausted and partially disabled – great motivational speech Sis!
NYTimes – please God protect moderates everywhere, and especially in places where being moderate can put people in peril, such as Iran – remember 2 million on the streets pleading for moderate change a few years ago and they were (at best) ignored. I do hope and pray that there will be moderate change this time, for everyone's sake. Thanks for this piece of good news TC, I had missed it!
Good to see you back, Pat.
The same we tell TomCat holds for you: "Take it easy". Ignore youre sisters "motivational speech" and just be happy she finally helped you out with the decoration. Now she's gone you can clean up in your own pace.
Great to see you back Pat!
Very good to see you back!
Welcome Home!
Thank you everyone – I have missed you all so much!
Congratulations on your improvement. Try not to do to much to catch up quickly, it'll only tire you out and keep you from recuperating fully. Slowly and the rope won't break, as we say.
TNY: You know, Andy may have given McTurtle an idea with this. The GOP is really desperate to get rid of Drumpf after his wins yesterday and a McConnell is now on his way to Obama to tell him he'll put a nominee for SCOTUS to the vote if he endorses Drumpf as Andy described. Because that will certainly work to have Drumpf's voters turn against him. And putting a nominee to the vote doesn't cost McTurtlle nothing, Republicans just vote him or her down.
DK: Drumpf is a habitual liar with Korzakov dementia, he's truly incapable of keeping track of all the lies, or truths, he's told. He makes it all up as he goes along and then forget about it. And he has absolutely no problem with making up the next lie if he get's caught out, because he knows it doesn't matter for the followers he's made, they love him lies and all, or perhaps even because of the lies, because that is how they would like it to be. And it worked again, didn't it!
NYT: This slow but certain change towards moderate politics in Iran will be denied by the GOP and by Netanyahu, but it is a fact and the result of the Nuclear Deal, negotiated by several world leaders, among them Obama. The GOP and Faux News will have a more difficult time to keep the American people in fear of Iran. They are probably looking for a replacement right now.
