Although it’s a relatively light day, I do have a lot of paperwork to get done, and I want to get as much rest as I can, because tomorrow is a very busy day.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 3:38 (average 5:45). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From The Union Leader: The New Hampshire primary lived up to tradition and winnowed a large field of candidates by another two: Chris Christie and Carly Fiorina.
The Republican presidential hopefuls quit the race Wednesday after disappointing finishes in the first-in-the-nation primary.
Good riddance to the Bankrupt Bitch, as some of her own HP employees called her, and worse riddance to…
From Alternet: Stephen Colbert congratulated Bernie Sanders on his New Hampshire landslide, and overwhelming (86 percent!) youth vote Wednesday night. "It’s like you’re puppy monkey baby," Colbert says, referencing the Super Bowl ad. "Why do you think the young ones like you?"
Even if I preferred Hillary, it would be worth supporting Bernie, just to move O’Lielly to Ireland.
From Think Progress: When 12-year-old Tamir Rice was shot and killed by Cleveland police for playing with a toy gun, officers didn’t give him medical attention for four minutes. Even if they’d tried to help, the officers didn’t have a first aid kit.
Now the city is suing the Rice family for a $500 ambulance fee, two months after a grand jury decided not to indict the shooting officer.
On Wednesday, the city filed a claim against the family “for emergency medical services rendered as the decedent’s last dying expense under Ohio Revised Code.”
The Cleveland Republicans responsible for this outrage can take a long, flying you-know-what off a short pier!!!

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
4:13 (average down a couple seconds) Is this an emergency?
Union Leader – Still too many and too scary.
AlterNet – You think Ireland would take O'Lielly? (Even though he can now prove his ancestors came from there, thanks to Henry Louis Gates and his minions?) Also Rush is still here and not in Costa Rica. TC, I'm sorry to break it to you, but they LIE.
Think Progress – Perhaps the Ohio Revised Code needs more revising. A LOT more revising. By people who are not clones of Ebenezer Scrooge. (Which of course means NOT by Republicans.) Do let us know of any petitions to the city to for God's sake waive this legal abortion.
Cartoon – And in theory either party can gerrymander – but in practice it seems to be the Republicans doing all of it.
A thought – I got an email from Earthjustice wanting my signature to tell the EPA to regulate all organophosphate pesticides (you can sign here). And the email included a sentence which started me on a train of thought (don't worry, it's not as dangerous as an oil train):
“Exposure to organophosphate pesticides has been extensively linked to brain damage.”
Brain damage leads to voting Republican.
Voting Republican leads to exposure to organophosphate pesticides.
Just in case you cannot find the Earthjustice petition, here it is:
Take Action
Ban 7 dangerous neurotoxic pesticides that are poisoning our brains

.
Signed the petition.
Been there. Signed that.
I couldn't find the page you linked to, Joanne, so I signed the one Jim gave us. (Thanks Jim!)
But your thought train on the cycle of organophosphate pesticides and voting was very sound indeed. You obviously never have come in contact with the stuff yourself. Keep it that way, I beg of you.

This is the link that I got after following JD's link and then clicking on 'Take Action'. It took me to a page with 3 petitions, one of which is titled BAN 7 DANGEROUS NEUROTOXIC PESTICIDES THAT ARE POISONING OUR BRAINS and references organophosphates. I have set this link to open on a new tab so nobody should lose incomplete comments if they click here.
Take all the time and rest you need, TomCat, it's good to pace yourself.
The Union leader: Good riddance to them both, and I hope Fiorina got the hint that politics isn't for her, but reading her "farewell message", which sounds like it was written by a Democrat, it looks like she's looking too attach herself to another campaign and will like a bad penny, probably turn up somewhere else, like Bachmann and Palin. PIGnocchio will return to wreak some more havoc on his own state in an attempt to get some more corporate backing in case times get rough.
Alternet: No matter where and no matter when, no matter how many times he repeats it, Bernie Sander's messages keep on ringing true. They've been attacked from all sides, they've been ridiculed, they've been belittled and so has Sanders been as a person, but it doesn't even put a dent into the message nor the man. Good friend O'Reilly is wrong, as always, and needs to start thinking about a wardrobe suited for Irish weather.
Think Progress: I'm gob smacked by this amount of inhumanity, of sickening gall…of…of Republicanism.
Cartoon: When will we see a name and date when gerrymandering was banned for good (by either party)?
Gerrymandering banned? Not while SCOTUS is SCROTUS,
Lona!!! Excellent post! You said EVERYTHING I was thinking! And Bernie was brilliant!! He is an old hippy, even though he won't claim it. All of his ideas are what is old hippies want for this country!!! And he is running STRONG, right now! I hope it stays that way!!!
UL: ''The Republican presidential hopefuls quit the race Wednesday after disappointing finishes in the first-in-the-nation primary.'' I'm not disappointed, I breathed a sigh of relief, actually.
AlterNet: Really nice to see that the younger generation is on the side of Mr. Sanders. No lie!! Go, Bernie!! I'm excited for the remark O'Reilly made in moving, though I do feel awfully sorry for the Irish.
Cartoon: Lying deceitful ID's.
Thank you, Joanne, and Jim for the link(s). Signed!!
From AlterNet: Anybody watch Samantha Bee's new Show? She nailed it! "Republicans laid out an all-you-can-eat banquet of crazy." Here's the link, enjoy! 5 Videos. Spoiler: Video #3: An alligator eats a turtle. I didn't like that.

Hope the rest of your day goes by well, and that you get a chance to rest. Take care, and Thanks, Tom.
Thanks for the link, loved it, and shared it.
Great link!
All the petitions already signed. Counterpoint to Cleveland is DOJ suing Ferguson for failing to abide fully by the settlement agreement.
Read where Clinton's folks are not that optimistic about NV outcome.
Answer to Ferguson, yes. I included this from Mother Jones in my OT yesterday:
Mother Jones — On Wednesday, Attorney General Loretta Lynch announced that the Justice Department was filing a lawsuit against Ferguson one day after the city council rejected a proposed settlement that sought to "remedy literally years of systematic deficiencies." The Justice Department spent more than six months negotiating a settlement with local officials after it identified widespread civil rights violations and racial discrimination in the Ferguson Police Department's stops, searches, and arrests. It also alleges that local court proceedings violated the due process of residents. The city council's rejection of the agreement, Lynch said, "leaves us no further choice." … …the residents of Ferguson have suffered the deprivation of their constitutional rights – the rights guaranteed to all Americans – for decades.
The full text of the lawsuit is there.
While we're on the topic of petitions, there are two more Earth Justice ones that need our help.
DEMAND STRONG AND COMPLETE PROTECTIONS FROM METHANE POLLUTION NOW!
STOP OLD-GROWTH CLEAR-CUTTING IN THE TONGASS NATIONAL FOREST!
I signed both!
Dito
Signed!
3:17 My mother would love this puzzle — she LOVES red!
The Union Leader — As I said in my OT yesterday, "Fiorina is a whack job that had no business even being in the race. I imagine there are some Hewlett Packard employees and investors that are glad she's out of the race." and "Mr Christie, your cookies crumbled . . . thankfully!" With Pignocchio, the ditch had to be supersized!
Alternet — Go Bernie! Amen to voting Bernie just to get rid of O'Lielly! I vote substance, not gender. Sanders over Clinton. Bernie is the people's candidate!
Think Progress — This is beyond the pale! Here is a Care2 petition: (you don't have to be a Care2 member to sign!)
Cleveland: Stop Punishing Tamir Rice's Family
"The Cleveland Republicans responsible for this outrage can take a long, flying you-know-what off a short pier!!!" — AMEN!!!
Cartoon — Seditious twerp!
The Union Leader: I was glad to see both of them go, now if the rest of them would, I would be happier.
Alternet: Go Bernie! I think his support from youth may very well get him elected. They are enthusiastic and will go to the polls. I will vote for Clinton if she is nominate, but prefer Bernie.
Think Progress: The city of Cleveland has withdrawn that request for the ambulance fee. Someone should be fired for doing this. Tamir Rice has not been given justice, and probably never will.
Cartoon: He had to have been a Republican by nature!
Could anyone help. The Repug gang have a new Mantra. They will make America " Great again".
Could someone please qualify this statement!?. Great WHAT??
"Great" is Republican for "white."
Thanks all!! Hugs!! Running out of gas fast!
