I bet you didn’t know, right? You did?!!? Dang!! And I thought it was a surprise, based on Hillary’s victorious concession speech. One might think she won. In a very funny way, she did, but first let’s celebrate Bernie’s win! We were hoping for a spread in the teens, but Bernie pulled off a virtual landslide. a twenty-one point spread!
New Hampshire resoundingly rejected the two major party’s mainstream candidates in its presidential primary Tuesday, with Bernie Sanders decisively beating Hillary Clinton on the Democratic ticket and Donald Trump overwhelming a pack of governors and U.S. senators who cannot seem to stop him.
Sanders’ 21-point victory over Clinton, though not unexpected after surging in recent polls, was a monumental achievement for a candidate who started out with less than 5 percent of the vote (trailing by 44 percent at one point last year) and calling for a revolution to fundamentally address economic and political inequality.
“We won because we harnessed the energy and the excitement that the Democratic Party will need to succeed in November,” Sanders said. “What the people here have said is that given the enormous crises facing our country, it is just too late for the same old, same old establishment politics and establishment economics: the people want real change.”…

Here’s the reason Hillary is not down over her loss. She is taking more delegates from NH than Bernie is, in spite of Bernie’s landslide. The problem is that the Democratic Party has 712 Super Delegates, from the party establishment, They are not required to follow the will of the voters in their states. Here is how they are effecting the delegate count so far.

I have no objection to Super Delegates committing to Hillary, as long as they reflect the will of their states’ voters. But for any candidate to take away two more of a state’s delegates that the candidate who won that state’s primary by twenty-one points is anti-democratic and obscene. All delegates must be required to follow the will of the voters.
Congrats to Bernie!

Me neither!
Nor I
YAY!!!
I'm feelin' it here, Feeling the BERN !!!
Awesome Win for Bernie in NH!
The graph above tells a much different story. Have a look.
"..undemocratic and obscene" you got that right!!
7 or 8 in Colorado, maybe more, I lost count, and all for Clinton. ReadyToFight.org, a division of actionnetwork.org, has launched a petition to Democratic superdelegates in general – it's at http://pac.petitions.moveon.org/sign/superdelegates-dont-deny?source=c.em.cp&fb_test=0&r_by=6272992 and it's fairly self explanatory.
I do want to point out that, just since the close of the New Hampshire polls and up to 2:16 pm Mountain time today, that's just about 18 hours, Bernie raised $5.2 million from roughly 150,000 small donors, all on line. They are hoping for $6M by the end of today, but already it's amazing.
This cartoon is also pretty self explanatory and I think maybe we should all look at it. Bernie himself doesn't need reminding, but some of his supporters do. http://www.alternet.org/comics/alternet-comics-jen-sorensen-dangers-democratic-smackdown
$6M reached by 5 pm mountain, goal upped to $7M, average donation $34.
Petition signed.
Thanks for the link, petition signed and shared.
Been there! Signed that!
Thanks for providing the important petition JD (already signed)
I thought the Superdelegates had to vote the will of the people, but it looks like they can be "bought" beforehand..?
That's right!
It seems to me that Super Delegates is a concept designed to keep the Party in control, regardless of the people's wishes as voted!
But, wow, what Bernie has done!!!!!!!
Mitch there are 3,253 Pledged Delegates, compared to 712 Super Delegates, so that tends to be the case ibly in a close race.
Super delegates is a bad idea from the get-go! They can vote however they want, regardless of the vote in election!!!
Gooooooooooooooooooooo Bernie!!!
I feel the same way about Super delegates as I do the Electoral College. Both take away the one person, one vote concept and should be done away with. I am not surprised that Ky has only One democratic super delegate.
Wow, this is some disillusionment for me, never having heard of Super Delegates before and believing there was some merit to the American voting system.
The Super Delegates have chosen Hillary over Bernie twice, not only when it was a virtual draw, but even when it was a landslide win for Bernie and that makes it very clear to me that Hillary is going to be nominated, no matter what the voters say. The establishment is about to turn the election of the Democratic candidate into a farce. Perhaps not such a big farce as that of the Republican candidate, but a farce never the less in my opinion.
At times like this I'm so glad I'm not an American citizen, who feels I must make use of my hard won constitutional right as a woman to vote, trying to bring back my country from the brink of disaster with my vote and trying to convince others to do the same, only to find out that the establishment, read corporate Wall Street, has made sure which way it is going to go. If not another Republican puppet, then at least a Corporate Democrat. Not the best from their point of view, but perhaps a lot better than unreliable Trump.
It also makes it very clear to me that in the unlikely event that Bernie should win the candidacy and becomes the next president, he'll have little or no support from his own party and is doomed to serve a term a la Obama, blocked in every possible way by the Republicans, with no help from Democrats in Congress.
Lona, please see below.
Thanks all. Hugs!!
Super Delegates can change their preferences, and there is one factor I should have mentioned yesterday. Party elites tend to be somewhat partisan, and several have said that there is only one Democrat in the race. Bernie has never actually joined the Democratic Party. Since he is running for the Democratic nomination, joining would be a good idea.
