In politics it is said, that when not fueled by hope there is a vacuum for fear to fill. Since artists turn to the muses, Clio, Euterpe, Thalia, Melpomene, Terpsichore, Erato, Polymnia, Ourania and Calliope we are exploring what they can offer us for inspiration to have the hope fueling politics.
"Hope is the last thing ever lost."
-Italian Proverb
“"Hope" is the thing with feathers –
That perches in the soul –
And sings the tune without the words –
And never stops – at all….”
-Emily Dickinson, c.1861
“Once you choose hope, anything's possible.”
-Christopher Reeve
Let us first turn to Calliope who might view this as her justice:
Slam dunk: Cop responds to kids 'disturbing the peace' by joining their game. (text and brief video)
http://www.upworthy.com/slam-dunk-cop-responds-to-kids-disturbing-the-peace-by-joining-their-game?c=upw1
Gives me a bit of hope, how about you (this was in FL)?
Would Clio claim this as historic?
Lego's new minifigure may be tiny, but its impact will be huge.

And another company doing something right:
For parents of kids with special needs, Target's newest shopping cart is a game-changer.
http://www.upworthy.com/for-parents-of-kids-with-special-needs-targets-newest-shopping-cart-is-a-game-changer
Are these good examples of how to spread hope for better inclusion?
Erato (love) would claim this one:
Hugs Cafe serves up jobs for adults with special needs | Humanity FTW (video)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?list=PL_W1Mq2lh4460rq1722xN9SvNybst52Cb&v=xspIHgrL-vY
Isn't this how it is supposed to be?
Calliope (multiple justices) would surely claim this one:
Her dad thought her clean energy idea was just a 'kid's project.' He was wrong. (video and text)
http://www.upworthy.com/her-dad-thought-her-clean-energy-idea-was-just-a-kids-project-he-was-wrong?c=upw1
Does it inspire hope in the next generation?
And then to Thalia (comedy video clip that horrifies Terpsichore)
Trump Around – Donald Trump Sings! (And it's not pretty)
http://therealnews.com/t2/component/hwdvideoshare/viewvideo/80264
I want humor, but maybe not so much this reminder type, how about you?
And some Terpsichore would find delightful (fairly short videos to make up for the earlier offense and enable recovery feel free to select types you feel an affinity with):
Traditional Irish Dancers (video)

Incredibly Talented Dancers on Ukraine's Got Talent (video)

2014 Euro Youth Latin | The Final Reel | DanceSport Total (video)

World Dance Sport Games 2013 – Boogie-Woogie Final (video)

Thiên Thủ Quan Âm (Thousand Hand Guan Yin) (Thai–video)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vs-H7xLnrs
2012 US Open Swing Dance Championships – Classic Division Champions (video)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0htEqpnKUE
Each an artistic triumph in its own way, does that inspire?
Which muse(s) might claim this final gem (video)?
Thank you dear reader for joining me on this journey of discovery and quest for hope

Calliope: When I was a kid, the neighborhood kids played outside all day. After our chores were done, of course. Kudos to Officer White, the GPD, and Shaq for playing with these children who were just having fun. Made some good positive memories too!
Clio: So glad to see this! Children w/disabilities deserve their own doll, or legos too!! Signed petition also.
20,352 supporters already. The shopping cart is also great for those parents/children who need better accessibility navigating the aisles and stores.
Erato: Aww….how wonderful !!
Calliope: This young lady and TGIF are going places!
Thalia: WoW! This was really good! I liked Thumpster getting Thumped.
Terpsichore: Talented young people, great videos. I'd hate to be a judge, as all of them were good!!
I don't know what muse it would be, but I can say that I found it very relaxing. What a marvelous experience to view them in their environment. No electronic devices, just you and the elements. Wonderful !!!
Fantastic post, JL. Many thanks, and a H/T to you! Enjoy your day.
Thanks Pat-I'm so glad you also found these to be wonderful!
Calliope – This is INDEED the way it should be. One swallow doesn't make a summer, and i pray for whatever it takes to get this to spread, and patience while and where it is spreading.
Clio – It was kind of a throwaway, but I just loved Lego referring to the new figure as "wheelie boy," I have an old Barbie-series doll in a wheelchair – her name is Becky and she is the school photographer. Needless to say I haven't opened the original box!
Target – And this is the same Target which advertised at Hallowe'en showing elsa with arm crutches. Good JOB!
Thalia – It's not NICE to thumb your nose at Terpsichore like that, dear!
Grizzlies are such majestic creatures – and like pretty much all other majestic creatures under threat from humans. I think I must support my right to arm bears.
Good ones!
Slam Dunk: Officer White should get himself a nickname soon because his attitude completely belies his name and the institute he's working for π Perhaps white men can't jump, especially not when in uniform, but this cop certainly turned that around and showed his colleagues how it can be done. Wonderful too that it was picked up by an NBA legend. The only drawback to the story was that they had to clean up some smoldering remains of someone who self-combusted in the neighborhood. That turned out to be the one who called in "the disturbing the peace" kids.
Lego: I don't think Lego is going to make much money on this new figure in a wheelchair, but it showed they listen to their customers and society.
Special needs kids: Nice going Target!
Hugs Cafe: Not new to me, we've got quite a few cafes and even restaurants staffed by special needs people.
Thanks for the last video, Judi. Seeing those bears in the wild in Alaska, unencumbered by those humans who just enjoy watching them being bears in their natural habitat, inspires me the most.
