That's right, it's . . .
After physio, I indulged in a drive about the area to take in some of the beauty that is too often wrapped in cloud and fog. A few pictures are below. I have a luncheon date tomorrow and after that a visit to the chiropractor to help the lungs to deal with this damn cold. If it is not one thing, it is another.
Puzzle — Today’s took me 2:53 (average 4:48). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes
Alternet — … they are doing what they can, right now, to transition away from fossil fuels and work toward an environmentally sustainable future.
We know that climate change and global warming are not hoaxes as many conservatives would have people believe. As cities and countries transition from fossil fuels to clean energy, we need to learn from each other and celebrate successes.
Politico — The field feels narrower all the time, with only Trump, Rubio and Cruz driving the race’s conversation. Chris Christie was at his best in Vegas, capping off a great month. But it wasn’t enough to siphon attention away from his better-polling rivals. And Jeb Bush had a moment, but not a lasting one.
I did not watch last night's Republican debate, but from what I have read in multiple articles, the winner was the Democrats while the clear loser was the American people. Certainly the latter sounds "as usual".
The Nation — The bottom line from the Kentuckian: “As commander-in-chief, I will do whatever it takes to defend America. But in defending America, we cannot lose what America stands for. Today is the Bill of Rights’ anniversary. I hope we will remember that and cherish that in the fight on terrorism.” …
When it comes to the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the basic liberties that define America, the truth is still as Benjamin Franklin described it: “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”
For being a party that rails against Obama for not respecting the Constitution, there sure are a number of Republican candidates that would change its very life blood. Are they taking their cue from Baby Bush, Cheney and their neocon cabal?
My Universe —
You have heard me talk about the rain, and more rain . . . well this is what today looked like here — sunshine, clear skies, crisp temperatures . . . did I mention the sunshine? It rained last night which turned into freezing rain, but snow on the mountains. Tomorrow is scheduled for more rain and wind.
Fountain in Lafarge Lake
Local mountains that I view daily
Local mountains from the main road.
Coquitlam River running high and fast as it descends from the mountains.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
AlterNet: So important for communities to adopt renewable power. Wind, solar, hydro, and bio mass.Kudos to those communities, that other areas should adopt, and follow their lead.
Politico: GO Bernie!! I couldn't bear to watch the debacle, I watched a Frank Sinatra old movie instead. I do pray that the Dems win this Presidential campaign.
Beautiful pictures! So serene. Pic of Kitty looking at his/her paws is adorable.
Enjoy your day, Thanks, Lynn.
Wonderful pictures, Lynn. You live in a very nice part of the world, a pity the weather has been so dreadful lately and has literally clouded your view too often. Good luck at the chiropractors, don't forget to take a coat. 😉
Alternet: Thanks for posting something positive on global warming, Lynn. While I'm not overly optimistic about it because I now live in one of the most badly performing countries in Europe (Netherlands) and in a few years time in one of the most badly performing countries in the world (Australia), video's like this do give me hope, especially when underdeveloped areas are allowed to make the transition from little (but fossil fuel) energy to sustainable energy in one step. The next step is to get rid of their coal or wood fueled (cooking) stoves and any cars or motorcycles not running on electricity. This also holds for the Western communities which can say they run on renewable energy completely when all their cars, and trucks, have turned electric. Traffic is still the number one CO2 emission contributor after factories, especially diesel powered trucks and kerosene powered planes, at least it is over here.
Politico: It's good to hear that the winner is still the Democrats, but that is only true if they win Congress too. Get out the vote!
The Nation: Things are really bad when of all people Rand Paul sounds the sanest of them all and apparently some Republicans in the hall even liked what he said. Now that's scary.
My Universe: But what do I do with them?
A hot date? Tell us more!
2:51 MY FISHY!!
Kudos to Burlington, Aspen, Greensboro, Dardesheim, Dharnai and more.
Amen.
Ben was spot-on.
Neat pics!!
4:06 The fish may be a carp, but my solving of this puzzle is crap.
Wednesday 4:05 (4:48) They are quite persistent.
AlterNet – Good for them. Yes, traffic worries me. The two big things (almost the only two things) I leave the house for are both things that public transportation can't handle. I combine trips as much as possible to cut down on miles, but still feel guilty. I do as much as I can to conserve in other ways, of course.
Politico – Sorry, I couldn't watch. I do better with reading anyway. Lona certainly put her finger on the need to win Congress.
Tha Nation – The terrorists already won. They won when the Patriot Act was passed. That battle is over. We lost. It may be a bit late to appeal to the Constitution when, after 14 years of living without it, many Americans have forgotten how it's supposed to look. Where was Rand Paul quoting Benjamin Franklin when we needed him?
Universe – Good caption. This pisture also begs for a caption that starts with "Invisible." "Invisible corncob"?
"I did not watch last night's Republican debate…." -Me neither; too many barf bags would have been needed. However, I will give Rand P. credit for his commentary on Trump and the constitution.
There never was a legitimate debate about climate change; there was science and the propaganda fighting it!
I will never, ever watch a Republican debate. I have enough health problems without deliberately making myself sick.
Well, viewing them as "The Comedy Hour" might prove therapeutic.
Alternet: Nice video. There was a segment on a village that went from dark at nightfall to light for 24/7 for having electricity for the first time with the installation of solar panels. Another example was a town that generated so much electricity that it now ships its excesses to the entire region with the use of its wind generators. Much more needs to be done and it is being done to get away from fossil fuels to clean and renewable energy sources.
Politico: I did not watch the GOP debate either. Too much of a temptation to need a barf bag, either a Dumya or Hairball bag would not have been enough.
The one part, which was not covered by the regular media, was the comment made by Senator Lindsey Graham. In Democracy Now!, He said in 1 min 20 seconds into the video: http://www.democracynow.org/shows/2015/12/16
By saying what he said, Lindsay Graham is no longer a viable candidate and he should take himself out of the nomination race. Lindsey wants Dubya (Bushy) back as President.
Nation: Rand Paul probably made his best showing at this debate than he has been in all of his previous debates, his defense for the Constitution and Bill of Rights and against Trump.
Universe: Thumbs… What are those?! lol. Thanks for the photos of your hometown.
