This is today’s only article from me. Last night I woke up with a severe case of Republicosis. I had to go so bad that I was careless mounting the throne, fell, and Replicated in my pants. I had to call the building night clerk to help me get up and clean up. Later I took a shower with help from my friend. I’m hurting and pooped.
Short Takes:
From The New Yorker: A new study conducted by legal scholars indicates that Justice Antonin Scalia would fare better if he served as a judge at a court that was “less advanced” than the United States Supreme Court.
According to the study, Scalia’s struggles to perform his duties in a competent fashion stem from his being inappropriately placed on a court that is “too demanding” for a person of his limited abilities.
Andy should have noted that a more appropriate court for Sturmbannführer Scalia is the Nuremburg War Crimes Tribunal, as a defendant.
From Daily Kos: File this under “NOT The Onion,” or “Pottery Barn Rules,” or “Houston, We Have A Problem.” It doesn’t matter what you call it, the cat is out of the bag. On Tuesday, the front runner for the Republican nomination for President of the United States, appearing on national television, was asked the following question by George Stephanopoulos:
"You’re increasingly being compared to Hitler. Does that give you any pause at all?"
The man most likely to get the Republican nomination for President of the United States, answered:
No.
Compared to Hairball, Hitler was a a lightweight.
From Media Matters: A Fox & Friends demonstration where children neutralized a gunman during an active shooter situation offered dubious advice to parents, as experts emphasize that confronting the gunman should be "a last resort."
The Fox News segment never explained that in an active shooter situation people should prioritize [Faux Nuts delinked] escaping and hiding over physically confronting the gunman — only mentioning the first two actions in passing — and instead emphasized engaging the gunman in a physical confrontation.
The December 8 broadcast of Fox & Friends featured two krav maga [Faux Nuts delinked] instructors and three children who demonstrated martial arts techniques that could be used to disarm an active shooter.
Co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck introduced the segment saying, "In an active shooter situation five seconds can mean the difference between life and death. But there are some things that you can do, and your children can do, to make a difference" before asking the instructor to "display for us and exemplify what would happen in an armed shooter situation." The instructor then used a stapler as a prop while his co-instructor demonstrated how to disarm a gunman from behind.
This TEAbuggery was brought to you by the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
What a miserable night! I am so sorry! Hopefully better is coming.
New Yorker – Straight news again. You are right about the appropriate court. I once took a Girl Scout troop to observe a courtroom where the jusdge was about as competent as Scalia. This was in North Calolina, during the VietNam war. He made a traffic ticket sefendant (who BTW was white) cut his hair before dropping the fine – and adding insult to injury he decided the first cut wasn't short enough, and sent him back for shorter. The girls in the troop were pretty well all daughters of military, who in those days had a clue about the Constitution, and all were shocked.
DKos – Nothing else to say (although I have heard him being compared to Mussolin and called "Il Douche.")
Media Matters – Now if Republicanism were genetic, this would be hopeful news. Sort of "Kill them before they multiply." Unfortunately, my impression is that it is congenital but not genetic So this probably won't help.
Cartoon – Where is Cindy Lou Who when you need her?
PS I trust eveyone will want to vote for the right wing Equine Posterior Achievement Award. This link is to the article with the background and nominations, while this one is to the actual ballot if you already know.
NYer: Justice Scalia is guilty of saying racist, insulting comments. He'd mess up a traffic court too. He should be impeached.
DK: Yikes!!! A true Representative of the the GOP.
MM: The standard mo, for schools here, ..is to lock all doors, turn off lights, get farthest from the door, be quiet, and crouch. The SRO assumes leadership in a gun situation, NOT students/teachers. Unbelievable clip of these kids disarming a man w/a 'loaded gun'. Not good. At. All.
Cartoon: Of course! "All things Merry and Bright", said the Republicans….
Aww…so sorry to read of your experiences last night. Hope that you are all right. You need to rest.
Take care, TomCat. I sure do care about what happens to you. Hugs!
"Justice Scalia is guilty of saying racist, insulting comments."
We need look no further back then this week when Antonin said:

Well, I will say Scalia has a point in one instance:
Think how much better off the world would be if only “Dubya” Bush had NOT been admitted to an elite school by special preferences, and instead been sent to a school that was “less-advanced” for him.
Sorry you had such a bad night. Try to take your time more.
Short Takes ~ They are all full of crap; Scalia, Trump and Elizabeth H.
Sorry, TC – but I'm going to have to strongly disagree that Trump makes Adolf Hitler look like a "lightweight".
Hitler makes virtually ALL the "Top Ten Most Evil" Lists complied.
Ouch! Hope you found only your dignity was truly injured.
Scalia is scary as is the power he was mistakenly given. Almost as scary as Trump, who we thankfully have a chance not to make the mistake of giving him power.
If someone dies following Faux advice, I hope the family sues them into oblivion.
Too many who are Grinches pretending to be Christians.
My 99 y/o Mom had a similar accident in the middle of the night this summer at her Assisted Living apartment. Fortunately I happened to be visiting at the time.
She has a commode right next to her bed because she urinates so frequently at night. (Not during the day – only at night, which I find odd). But she goes to her bathroom for BMs. It was in the middle of the night & she was trying to make it to the BR – but didn’t. (The walker does slow her down.)
It took us a good half-hour to get her, her jammies and the floor cleaned up – so I can sympathize & empathize.
Of course you are the professional, but I certainly have read that night urination with age is very common because, again as one ages, the kidneys and bladder work more efficiently when is lying down. Not to mention they would get more blood flow so can do more work when everything else is at rest. My Mom, who passed at 93, had a bedside commode for at least the final ten years of her life. I'm still walking in the dark myself.
Well, as a Pediatrician, elderly physiology is a bit foreign to me (although I’m learning it more & more through first-hand experiences). But her Internist explained it in similar terms to yours: The dependent edema that ALL old folks eventually develop is easier relieved in the supine/recumbent position of sleep. And it makes perfect sense.
I also pee more at night.
Those damn cowardly Republicans, attacking when you're most vulnerable, causing you to fall and in need of assistance! But I'm sure there's no need to worry about needing help, both the night clerk and you friend will have understood the emergency and know you're still adapting to a new situation. I hope the hurt and the Republicosis are gone soon and you can enjoy one of my catnaps to catch up on some sleep.
The New Yorker: This one is bang on, Andy, fantastic. But I have to agree with Pat B, Scalia is so bigoted and racist that he'd fork it out to any minority that came before his bench except angry white old men like himself. And those wouldn't get there because the racial profiling of the (traffic) cops will have taken care of that.
Daily Kos: I've had no trouble calling Donald Trump a fascist and even would go as far as to say that all Republican candidates and the GOP as a party with fascist tendencies, but I think you're crossing the line when you call Hitler a leightweight compared to Trump, TomCat. Hitler had an ideology which led him to eradicate millions of lives. Trump doesn't have an ideology, only sound bites. He has an ideal, yes, and that is to become Emperor of the world, but for now President of America will do.
Media Matters: Why do I get the feeling that Faux News would have liked to have seen the whole group made up of African-Americans, but that would have been too obvious?
Cartoon: All those things that Republicans consider presents, right?
Thanks all! Hugs!!
and pooped out also . glad to hear you back on you feet with i hope a minium amount of damage , except maybe to your dignaty , which is probably the easiest part of you to heal .hopefully that was a one time affair . bewell TC .
