Almost every week, Republicans join a competition to see who can say the most outlandish things, and in the process, they push the envelope on just how nutty InsaniTEA can become. As TC would say, I trust that you will believe it, when I tell you that last week was no exception.
Republican politicians and presidential aspirants fell all over each other this week, trying to be as offensive, spiteful and Islamophobic as possible. Let’s review some of the lowest of the legion of low-lights.
1. Ben Carson’s truly offensive and clearly intentional metaphor.
Reports of Ben Carson’s stupidity and inability to grasp foreign policy may (or may not) have been greatly exaggerated. But reports that he is an evil mother*cker have not. In his usual semi-somnambulant state, Carson compared Syrian refugees to “rabid dogs” this week in a piece of rhetoric that really does, no exaggeration, rival Hitler.
"If there is a rabid dog running around your neighborhood, you're probably not going to assume something good about that dog. And you're probably going to put your children out of the way," Carson said at a campaign event in Mobile, Alabama. "Doesn't mean that you hate all dogs, by any stretch of the imagination. But you're putting your intellect into motion and you're thinking, how do I protect my children?
Hmmm, let’s see, how many dog whistles can he blow at one time?
"By the same token, we have to have in place screening mechanisms that allow us to determine who the mad dogs are, quite frankly," Carson continued obviously pleased as punch with his metaphor. "Who are the people who want to come in here and hurt us and want to destroy us? Until we know how to do that, just like it would be foolish to put your child out into the neighborhood knowing that that was going on, it is foolish for us to accept people if we cannot have the appropriate type of screening."
The fact that these horrifyingly inflammatory remarks are uttered in Carson’s soft cadence, and by a doctor no less, somehow compounds their vileness. He’s fully capable of generating lots of metaphors, but he chooses this one. In what way exactly is that not evil?
Click through the rest of the Alternet article. It defies logic how some Americans can become so enthralled by these idiots. But then that is playing on fears, and they are masters of fear.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
AlterNet: Carson has lost his mind, or what's left of it. How extremely offensive and vile.
Trump, Cruz, Kasick = xenophobic, lying, bigots.
What amazes me is that rooms are packed when these clowns speak. That's what is really scary!!
Thanks, Lynn for posting.
The only problem with a single issue collection like this is that they all sound so alike. There is no attempt to actually see things or to actually think; the closes they get to creativity or even thought is to try to phrase the hate differently. Is that, for their base, a strength of the right? Does that base see us as confused, as not knowing what we think, as not having any actual plans? Yes, what I am saying here scares me too.
Has anyone read "What Do You Buy the Children of the Terrorist who Tried to Kill Your Wife?: A Memoir" by David Harris Gershon? I admit I have not, only read about it, but what I know about it keeps coming to mind as I read these … Republicans.
There are times I wish I could just put up a big emoticon with it's mouth hanging open wide, somewhere between flabbergasted and disgusted and be done with commenting. I've waded through all six of these comments before starting dinner, trying to save on barf bags, and had a very hard time picking the one which flabbergasted/ disgusted me the most: Carson's Rabid Dogs, Trump's Muslim Registry, Trump's Obama flooding the Country with Muslims with Evil Intent, Cruz's Lie that Muslims are compelled to Lie; it’s in the Quran, Kasich's Federal Agency to promote “Judeo-Christian” Values while banning Refugees or Roanoke Democratic mayor's Cool Internment Camps. By volume it should be Trumps, but I think it's a draw: they're equally vile and disgusting.
The Republican hopefuls have sunk so low that they not only cater to the views rabid base of extremist Islamophobes, they're also shamelessly using their language to describe the refugees and Muslims in general: derogatory, hateful and dehumanizing. They are not only trying to whip up fear, with their racist and demeaning language they're also whipping up hatred and violence.
What none of them realize is that they have allied themselves to Da'esh with their fear and hate mongering against the Syrian refugees. Da'esh hates and despises the Syrians who have fled their country because they have fled the Islamic Caliphate and by doing so show the world it isn't the perfect Islamic paradise they are propagating. Europe and America couldn't do Da'esh a bigger favor than not letting the Syrian refugees in. It is exactly what they want for these 'cowards' fleeing their caliphate instead of obeying and propagating it.
Carson: a rabid brain dead nobody at home dog. poor knowledge of foreign affairs and cultures.
Trump 1: reminisces of Hitler and his "management" of jews, gypsies.
Trump 2: a copier and thief of ideas. very limited foreign policy understandings.
Cruz: a secret and understated, "unwanted", immigrant who is a bigot himself.
Kasich: A GOP "KKKer" espousing "Christian" values such as "“Equality for women, respecting science and education, the importance of recognizing that every single life matters." LIAR! separation of religion and government.
Roanoke mayor David Bower: Inter thyself.
My feeling about certain candidates with the people packing the rooms, halls are there for entertainment and laughs on these so-called GOP candidates. What percentage are there just for laughs is unknown. These GOP candidates are NOT the best America has to offer; they are the worst bottom feeders the GOP has to offer at this point in time.
This is a great description, Jim.
Yuck!! What sickening Republicans!! You beat me to it!!!
You need more than one barf bag for this lunacy.
Embarrassed as I am to be from Roanoke, the home of the idiot mayor David Bowers, he has been roundly taken to task by the citizens of the city, as well as by the City Council. Our fantastic State Representative, Sam Rasoul, who emigrated from Pakistan as a child and is greatly loved and respected by the voters, held a community rally and hundreds of residents came and brought food, clothing, household items, etc. for imigrants. They soundly renounced our idiot mayor, and after this episode of ill advised insanity, his political career is over.
The City Council has discussed censuring him, and is investigating their legal options. This fool is NOT indicative of our city, as we have immigrants from 95 countries, and have a Local Colors Festival annually, with booths, food, dancing, as well as imformation about each of the countries participating. Insanity took over his "mind" and mouth, and he has been called to task, loudly and firmly.
Thanks, Beth, glad to know he does not really represent Roanoke.
The current collection of hate-mongering bigots trying to head the GOP is just WAY TOO DAMN SCARY!
The scariest part is how many otherwise sane people are voting for them!
There are, indeed, "So many awful thigs going on to keep track of," and they are coming from the hate mongerers!
I clicked through, and my mind is reeling with the BS with which I was confronted. I love the line about American values and "Wait a minute, has anyone told the Republicans about this?" How can these jackasses be so blind about their blindness?
The question put to Trump, by the interviewer from the right, is so much set-up line: "What do you think about Obama flooding the country with Syrians?" Flooding? This is like asking a diffrent version of the well known question "When do you think he stopped beating his wife?"
It all reminds me of another well known line: "You can't make this stuff up!"
From my still boggled mind, I can hear a word emanating: Whackadoodles!
As I said to Nameless, the scariest part to me is how many people will be voting for one of these nuts.
